1. There are no scenarios where you can justifiably shoot the pistol as of writing this.

2. You can turn off the shooting penalty in the Settings menu under game. Be aware that your shift will still end if you shoot cars or people.

3. Reloading the pistol at any time will result in losing every magazine.

4. A successful aim will cause your officer to shout at the suspect or the suspect will put their hands up.

When To Use Your Gun

1. You can justifiably aim your firearm at wallet snatchers. They usually either grab people or run with brown wallets in hand.

2. You can aim your gun at fleeing suspects, including vandals and wanted persons (indicated by a "this suspect is fleeing" message).

3. You can aim your pistol at suspects who resist your attempts to frisk or search them.

When Not To Use Your Gun

1. When you see a wanted suspect, don't immediately pull out your gun even if the description says they're armed. Zoom in by holding the left mouse button (or whatever key you use) to make sure, and just approach them to detain.

2. If you see drug dealers or vandals, don't aim at them unless they start to flee.

3. There are some "suspects" that run to the point where you can't interact with them up close, but they don't show a fleeing message, Don't aim your handgun at them off the bat. However, if you aim at them with a taser, but they still flee, then you can aim the gun.
