Playstyle
This is the party build - bright colours, disco lights, flashy swirls! You'll mostly be running around throwing bombs and watching things die whenever they come close to you.
This build focuses on inflicting elemental status damage on enemies via melee attacks, bombs, and our many auras. The paladin tree helps us inflict statuses (poisoned, burned, frozen, paralyzed) with melee attacks, the bombs tree helps us inflict statuses as well as proc damaging, defensive, and healing auras when we use items, and the supplementation from the spells/elemental and Crown of Thorns/Shield trees helps us inflict even more statuses for even more damage.
You'll only need to pick up bombs (though you'll have extra inventory space for props so you can pick up any additional potions or scrolls that you like), and bombs are blue-quality, so you can drop your screen clutter and loot-sorting time by disabling all but blue items from showing up in the Settings menu, if you like. If you find yourself running out of one particular bomb type, just switch to another one until the other one builds up again - doesn't matter what status type we're inflicting, as long as we're inflicting it :D
With the bomb tree talents you'll be picking up a LOT of bombs, and will get free uses of items, as well as bonuses to using items like extra healing - so you can pretty much stand there spamming bombs and watching your auras proc. We've even got a talent that lets you use items for zero stamina if your stamina is below 10% - bombs away!!
For maximum damage though, supplement your bombing with melee strikes and uses of your weapon skills; the talents we've unlocked will give extra skill uses, so you shouldn't find yourself running out a lot, but if you do, you can just rest at the campfire (where we've taken skills that improve the bonuses we get from doing that, too!).
Auras for days!
CLEARING TRASH
Alternate throwing bombs with holding your block button to increase defense (if necessary). For easier targets you can pretty much just straight through them while casually throwing a bomb or two, and they'll fall over from all your damaging auras. For elite trash, spam your bombs a bit more.
OVERLORD/BOSS STRATEGY
Stand close enough so that the boss is in your aura range, hurl bombs at it, and cast your weapon skills on cooldown. I've found bombs more efficient at damaging the overlords than melee attacks, so focus on that. If it's swinging at you, dodge out of the way - you shouldn't have stamina problems, we're specced to improve stamina use and regen stamina.
Abyssal Knowledge Talents
Our main talent lines are the Paladin's one-handed hammer Judgement tree, and the Bombs/Props tree down to Aura Avatar section; to supplement the status effects and auras we'll be dipping our toes into the elemental spells tree, and finishing off going as far down the Crown of Thorns/Shield tree as we can for extra defense and reflect.
JUDGEMENT:
Take everything in the end loop for some extra auras and AoE damage.
These are the important talents here:
The cluster of four talents leading up to Hammer of Judgement all increase our chance of inflicting status effects on the target, and then Hammer of Judgement itself increases damage to targets with a status effect.
Further along the Judgement tree there are a few talents that have helpful auras, and then Holy Sceptre at the end inflicts paralysis - another status effect!
It's up to you whether you want to take the Mastery Weapon Judgement at the end here; if you've got the soulstones and boss materials for it, it'll see you through to l120, but you can also save your materials (and recoup a talent point to use elsewhere) and just use normal weapon drops with the appropriate stats/skills/etc.
BOMBS AND AURAS
Pick up everything heading downward after Treasure Hunter splits .
These are the important talents here:
Everything in this pentagram circle buffs your auras and offsets your stamina loss. Everything leading up to this section makes your item use more efficient, meaning you'll pick up big stacks of bombs and be able to use them at almost no cost.
This little cluster involves auras that inflict status effects - MOAR STATUS EFFECTS!! MOAR AURAS!!!!11!1
THAT'S ELEMENTAL!
We'll poke our noses up the Elemental Talents tree just high enough to get Elemental Orb, and the few talents preceeding it that help us with - you guessed it - status effects weeeee!
Increased chance of applying status effects, improved status effects, and then orbs that circle around you to deal more damage!
CROWN OF THORNS
From here on out, put your remaining talent points along the Defense/Crown of Thorns tree, as far as you can go. With the talent points you gain from clearing every 10th dungeon floor, you should be able to go down pretty far and pick up some nice reflect talents that'll add to the amount of passive damage we do :D
Gear
IMPORTANT TIP
When you start getting L100 gear, as soon as you find a piece of gear that's an upgrade, head to a lower level floor where the mobs won't be a problem, and just run through finding the shrines to soulbind your new gear. I do this at level 50. This build is susceptible to burst damage and can be caught unawares, so you really want to make sure all your gear is soulbound just in case.
We'll be using a one-hand hammer as our weapon, along with a one-handed shield. In general, you want to look for attributes that inflict or improve status effects, and on weapons, look for skills that can inflict status effects, like stun and poison. You'll also find that you're fearing enemies a lot, so you can look for attributes that increase damage against feared targets, as well as those that increase damage against other status effects.
One of our talents does damage to nearby enemies equal to our regeneration:
While we have other talents that increase our regeneration, we can also look for gear that improves on our regeneration percentage.
Since we'll be using bombs a lot for extra application of status effects, you can also look for attributes on gear that improve bombs and props.
Possible weapon skills that work well;
Look for orange attributes that involve status effects:
You can supplement these effects with any that generally increase your damage, or your survivability, depending on what you feel you need.
I've found this attribute on a few pieces of gear that's fun since you'll be standing still throwing bombs a lot;
As you pass floor 100, you'll want to make sure your gear has rune slots - but by then, you should have plenty of materials available to unlock rune slots and tweak attributes at the blacksmith.
Gems
MASTER WEAPON GEMS
These gems deal extra damage against burning, poisoned, slowed, and paralyzed enemies, as well as boost our shield strength and duration, improve damage while equipped with a shield, and heal us when we use light attacks.
In general, you'll want to socket gems that improve chance of applying status effects and increased damage on targets suffering from status effects, gems that increase regeneration (remember we have a talent that does damage based on our regen), and gems that improve item use for our bombs. If you're struggling with survivability you can socket gems that enhance shield and defense.
Runes
Follow the same principles with rune slotting as you do with your gear in general; remember that you want to inflict status effects, and deal extra damage to enemies suffering from status effects.
There are some runes that can synergise nicely with this play style - runes that increase drop chance of items, increase damage or defense while standing still, and things like this:
The playstyle of this build revolves around inflicting poison, fire, frost, and electric damage, as well as physical from our weapon, crushing, exploding - so this rune should work quite nicely!
I'll add examples of other runes that should complement this build as I find them, but play with what you've got and equip what best suits the build :)
