Getting A Suitable Part

The first thing is to find a suitable part for restoration. In this case we need a rusty body part, if its not that rusty the price will be high and it wont be worth restoring, the ones I have found are generally around £10, some up to £15. This is an example of a body panel with a suitable amount of rust.

Step 2 is to buy it, so click it, and through the power of magic the scrapyard will take money out of your wallet and move the part to the front on a pallet where you can pick it up.

Getting The Part Back Home

There are a couple of ways to do this, the most convenient way is to use a car and trailer, however walking home in the rain is an acceptable way if its all you have.

After a long and semi uneventful journey, we return at the garage all dry and ready to start restoring.

Now comes the part of the actual restoration. First things first is to walk across the road and to buy a rust removal disc for the grinder, the big yellow round one. (The disc not the grinder)

Once purchased, take it back and put it onto the grinder.

Now to assault the rust, take time to remove as much of it as possible, after a while when most of it is removed the rest will be removed automatically, this process will damage the paint though so be aware.

Once done, the part can be sold, so heading out of the garage, heading past the petrol station then down the hill behind the garage and onto the docks then turning into the pawn shops shipping crate, its the one with graffiti and a massive "pawn shop" sign on the door , theres a couple of TVs and a pallet inside. I got a decent price on this and made a little over £30 when the cost of the disc and the part was factored in, but since you don't need to buy the disc every time then that profit will be greater with more parts.

Finally just a note, the paint condition does not seem to affect the price. I bought some paint, carefully made sure it was fully sprayed and still got the same price, minus the cost of the paint I would have barely made any profit, so don't respray de-rusted parts.
