Hantu Island/Lost Island

Hantu Island/Lost Island

Intro And Location:

This a conclusive guide on the 'secret' island of Hantu in Just Cause 2.

The island is located at: X:2290; Y:2220 and is famous for being occupied by 100 year old Japanese Soldiers who still think that World War 2 is being fought.

Mission:

Hantu Island is first brought too many players' attentions with it's apperance in the Mission 'Stranded'.

~SPOILER ALERT~

The mission is orchestrated by the Ular Boys, one of Panau's three gangs and involves recovering a drug shipment from an Ular Boys' plane that has crashed on Hantu Island.

The mission begins with Rico being tasked with hijacking an aeroplane from Teluk Permata airport, which is then flown to Hantu Island. During the flight, Rico is informed that the island is very myserious and said to be cursed, meaning that even the government won't going there, making it the perfect smuggling route for the Ular Boys.

However, when your plane reaches the island, it mysteriously crashes, so you must parachute out and meet the pilot of the drug smuggling plane, that has also been brought down in a similar way.

The pilot informs you that the Japanese army have created an electrical pulse generator, which can bring down aircraft, so Rico is tasked with cutting the power supply.

This is done by fighting off Japanese soldiers so that each power supplying tower can be infiltrated and hacked. Once this has been done, the main tower (housing the pulse generator) must be climbed, so that you can destroy the pulse generator can be destroyed.

After the pulse generator has been destroyed, you then return to the pilot of the crashed Ular Boys aircraft and must drive a truck containing 8 drug crates to the area where they will be picked up, along with the pilot, by a helicopter. You will be met by fierce resistence at multiple checkpoints by Japenese soldiers and in order for the mission to be a success, you must arrive at the pickup point with at least 3 drug crates.

~PLEASE NOTE:~

UNTIL THE MISSION HAS BEEN COMPLETED , YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ENCOUNTER SOLDIERS ON THE ISLAND.

At the top of the eastern power supply tower.

At the EMP tower.

3 Vehicle Parts:

1 Armor Part at the Ular Boys Bering I-86DP crash site X:2786; Y:2400.

1 Cash Stash at the EMP tower.

History:

Many years ago, Hantu Island was likely to have been inhabited by Cannibal tribesmen, who eventually died off. Leaving the island to be inhabited by the Japanese island in World War 2.

Map:

Above is a detailed map of the island.

However, the aerial view of the island, seen from the map, is slightly unaccurate, in ways such as:

The river that starts in the middle of the island and goes west is in reality only half as long and doesn't go that far inland.

There's a river that doesn't show up on the map. It starts in the middle of the island and goes south.

The river that, on the map, starts in the middle of the island and goes east, is actually longer. It goes further inland from it's map end. The real end is to the north-west of the map end, near the main tower.

The island extends about 300 to 500m further into the south than the map shows.

The smaller island, in the middle of the western coast, isn't a separate island at all. The small river on its southern side doesn't exist.

There's a lake at about X:2650; Y:1830, that doesn't show up on the map.

The island extends further into the north north-east, on the map, than it does in reality.

Interesting Items Found In Hantu Island:

Crashed Bering I-86DP. The aircraft components are scattered. This is a possible Lost reference. There's a sign on the beach, next to this plane - "SEARCH →". 1270 3490

Another crashed Bering I-86DP, next to 2 tower devices. 2760 2430

The "EMP" weapon (highest tower). There's a lot of smaller towers and things around it. 2290 2220

Another tower device. There's a collectible item over 100 m to the west. 3460 3180

More tower devices. 2980 4170

Another tower device. There's 3 small bunkers in the immediate vicinity. 2666 3515

Another tower device. 2480 3276

A large row of tower devices. The coordinates represent the approximate ends of the row. 2790 1464

3380 1510

The Lost hatch. 1770 4350

An enormous field of red flowers similar to the red Higan flowers that are said to mark the boundaries between the realms of the living and the dead in the Japanese Shinto religion.

The Mystery Of The Smoke Monster:

An unarmed panau miltray soldier, named the 'Smoke Monster' can be encountered on the island at the co-ordinates: x-1300 y-2000. The 'monster' is supposedly a reference to the TV series 'Lost' and he is always followed by a trail of smoke and smoke even remains if he is killed.

Japanese Equipment:

List of Japanese military equipment found on Hantu Island:

3 x Fengding EC14FD2. X:2990; Y:4150. Two are usual (other than the Japanese markings), but one doesn't have the wooden walls that make the cargo compartment edges higher.

1 x Wilforce Trekstar. X:2770; Y:2450.

1 x Wilforce Range X. X:3260; Y:1495.

1 x Wilforce Trek II. X:3265; Y:1495.

2 to 3 x Hamaya GSY650. These appear along the road that connects the Ular plane crash site to the north-east beach.

H-62 Quapaw. X:3080; Y:1590. The Japanese don't use it. It's parked on top of a bunker.

If you approach the main tower with a helicopter (after the mission "Stranded"), you might see how some of them use parachutes. They have the same kind of round parachutes, as Panauan paratroopers.

The Japanese miltary also use modern submachine guns.
