My Theory

In this universe the entire universe something happened that caused all habitable planets and stars to disappear and only very few people that are still alive are in star ships or space stations.

And you are playing as a prisoner going to explore a newly found blood ocean on a moon they found and since you are a criminal you are expendable so to speak.

And now comes my theory

When you are sent down to the ocean there is a computer on your submarine that gets updated BEFORE you enter the ocean and there is a bunch of info on it.

If you type specific words or names you get info about those things and what intrigued me the most is that when I typed in "monster" something came up on the computer with a bit of info but the rest is redacted.

In the game you see a sort of monster through one of the events in the game but if you are the first one down there how can there be a monster entry on the computer about the blood ocean if you weren't the only one? Because there was a previous sub that was there that you can actually find broken on the ocean floor and if you type it's name in the computer (I am not going to name it since it is a spoiler kind of) it shows that I was correct and they knew something was down there,

But what they don't know is that there is an anomaly or something inter-dimensional down there because there are no existing entries stating that so they must only know about very few things there and what the entry says might mean that if you weren't eaten you could have been saved and showed the evidence.

And what I think caused the rapture might have been the anomaly or something similar. All planets disappeared or vanished but this does not mean destroyed so they could have been teleported somewhere else. And the blood ocean itself is an anomaly and there seem to be structures down there which might mean the blood ocean wasn't always there.

So what I think is that some weird anomaly or something happened that made them all vanish and other anomalies create these oceans. What I don't really know is how the hell did nobody know about these oceans before the rapture meaning that the rapture must have made them and also the monster there doesn't seem to belong to our universe because it must have also been created with the rapture.

whatever the reason it is, it is utterly terrifying to think about happening in real life, imagine in the far future in a space station where in a blink of an eye everything changed.
