Doors Of Arithmancy
These doors are scattered throughout Hogwarts. These are puzzles to be solved, but the doors cannot be opened until you find the solution key. Here's how to figure out what's behind their intriguing allure.
Jump out of the Fireplace Flame next to the divination classroom in the library annex and you'll be near the doorway under the ceiling. Go through - and on the right you will find a divination class door, which is also one of the puzzles. Saying "Revelio", you will see the task of arithmancy. The door will be opened by the correct combination of numbers and runes with the image of animals. There is a spinning lock next to each door that must be rotated to the correct animal symbol in order to complete the challenge.
In this case, you do not need to remember the meanings of the characters. There is a cheat sheet in the drawer next to the board, which shows all the animals and their corresponding numbers. This cheat sheet is located in the Quest Items section of the Field Guide. Now you will never get stuck on these puzzles again, and behind each door there is a lot of loot waiting for you, which will be a real help in the first few hours.
Lumos Paintings
You arrive at Hogwarts already knowing the Lumos spell, which allows you to light the tip of your wand and use it as a torch. This spell also sheds light on another Hogwarts mystery.
Portraits hang on the walls of Hogwarts, black as the heart of Argus Filch. These ovals are little puzzles for you to solve. Let's start with the fact that after casting the Lumos spell on the picture, a work of art will appear, which will be some place in Hogwarts not far from this picture itself.
As soon as you find the appropriate place, after casting the Revelio spell, a secret moth will appear near it. Use Lumos again and lead the moth back to his painting, which he will sit on and complete the artwork. This procedure will restore the artwork and give you some experience points.
Tickle Pear Portal
The closest point to this Fireplace Flame is the Grand Staircase. If you go through the corridors again and down the stairs, you will see a spiral staircase made of leaves. It leads in the direction of the Hufflepuff common room, but unless you are a student of this house, you will not get there. However, you will pass by a still life with fruit. One of the pears in this picture is ticklish, and if tickled long enough, it will turn into a doorknob.
Then the picture will swing open - and the Hogwarts Kitchens will appear! A rarely seen part of the castle's lower levels, where house elves prepare food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner day and night before magically teleporting it all to the Great Hall.
This room has a wonderful view of the living quarters of the elves - a pile of barrels that they converted into tiny houses.
Chamber Of Secrets
Unfortunately, you will not be able to visit the huge reptile sanctuary that the students will open later. But the passage will still be there if you know where to look.
The closest point to this Fireplace Flame is the Lower Grand Staircase. You will be at the top of the stairs. If you run down and to the right and further down the corridors, you will eventually reach a corridor with restrooms. Moaning Myrtle's bathroom is located on the right side of this corridor. The room can't be opened right now, but one of the faucets has a snake engraved on it.

Toilet Cake
Ugh. WOW! One would expect Gryffindor's restrooms to be such a crowded place, given how often the students in this establishment are in danger. It is for this reason that this discovery confuses us. In the south wing on the lower floors there are two toilet rooms. One is closed because the poltergeist Peeves likes to play pranks on people. In fact, the first time you get there, he will be singing a song next to a soaking wet student, yes...
Another restroom will be open and all stalls will be openable. In the penultimate booth, there will be what can only be described as toilet cake - someone is sitting on the push and chewing on the cake.
In addition, it is the only non-flush toilet. There's also a mirror in the bathroom that comments on how you look, but after encountering toilet cake, you might want to avoid that.
Polyjuice Potion
Many of these potions are associated with the toilet. In the Astronomy Wing, one flight of stairs down from the chimney exit from the Spells Room is another Hogwarts latrine.
In the last stall of this toilet, there is a bubbling cauldron of green slime, around which are various herbs and a few pages torn from some books on powerful magic. This is clearly a reference to the Polyjuice Potion brewed by Hermione in the Chamber of Secrets, although this time in a different part of the castle. Can you imagine if Hogwarts teachers took lessons in secret toilet stalls instead of the boring classrooms they run? Then no student would fail their TOAD (Terrible Academic Brilliance) exams.
Faculties Hourglass
During the academic year, each student can collect points for their faculties. Points are measured by a large hourglass located at the entrance to the Great Hall. Each hourglass represents one faculty.
Rubies for Gryffindor, diamonds for Hufflepuff, sapphires for Ravenclaw, and emeralds for Slytherin. The faculty with the most points at the end of the year wins the faculty cup. Hall Of Trophies
There are several neat Easter eggs in the Hall of Trophies. The Fireplace Flame point for this room is on the Grand Staircase. Outside the hall, you find yourself surrounded by the impressive awards that Hogwarts teachers and students have collected over the years. Here is a chest with the Goblet of Fire. In the trophy hall is a goblet that selects students for the Triwizard Tournament. This is a rather imposing tower made of ancient metal structures, but, unfortunately, it does not select the player. And we are happy about it. We're bad at mazes.
The answer to a question that no one has ever asked: how big does a troll's armor need to be? You can find this out in the hallway next to the Hall of Trophies, which contains an imposing specimen. Toad Statue
Travel to the House's Fireplace Flame in the south wing. Start running and go down the left stairs. At the bottom of a curved staircase is this statue of a toad with a clue.
When interacting with the statue, it will swallow you whole and spit you out into a room that cannot be accessed by any other way. It's kind of like a stick crafting area (which you can't use) with sticks on the walls, sticks on the ceiling, and bundles of firewood all around.
You can exit through the toad statue or open the door and return to the bottom of the stairs near where you entered.
Chorus Of Frogs
Leave them to the song; that's what they say. This room has several entrances. The easiest solution we've found is to go to the Fireplace Flame in the courtyard of the Bell Tower. From there, just go up the right stairs. You will find yourself in a hallway - it will lead you to a music room with a small cluster of frogs that will sing to you when you interact with them. A magical moment brought to life in deafening detail, even though the game claims they sing better than most students.
There is a lot more. But this is something you have to find on your own. It is possible to explore each of the common rooms, but only if you are a student of the correct house; otherwise, you will not have access to them. On the first floors and surrounding areas there is a lot of things. Visit the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade and many other wonders of the wizarding world.
Cast Revelio Often
Revelio is among the first spells you learn while playing Hogwarts Legacy, and it will prove to be very useful during your whole adventure. This enchantment highlights all the interactive elements in the area, such as loot chests, hidden objects, puzzle items, and much more. Revelio also points out any enemy nearby, even through walls. Use it as much as possible, especially in unexplored locations, because it lets you immediately spot any relevant object you may want to collect or interact with. This spell is always at your disposal and has a dedicated button whether you are playing with a controller or a mouse and keyboard, so don’t forget about it. Revelio will definitely save you some time while looking for treasures.
Explore Everything In Detail
As you would expect, Hogwarts and its surroundings are full of mysteries. You will find plenty of side quests to tackle, bandits to defeat, animals to rescue, puzzles to solve, potion ingredients to collect, and the list doesn't end here. In fact, Hogwarts Legacy could take completionists more than 100 hours to finish. This game has a lot to offer, and you will be able to learn more about its lore if you take your time to explore this magical world in detail. Certain chests, for example, are hidden behind some small puzzles or require a spell to be opened and can easily be missed if you are in a rush. Plus, you will be able to earn extra XP that will help you level up quicker, unlock Talents and equip better gear.
Don’t Neglect Side Quests
As you progress through the game and interact with different characters, you will unlock plenty of side quests to tackle along the main story. Some reward you with gold, while others allow you to get new appearances and even learn new spells. You will also be able to discover further details about the wizards and witches you speak with, from students to professors. If you miss side quests, you will soon find yourself behind the requirements for the main story missions and will most probably struggle during combat.
Unlock Floo Flames Spots
Hogwarts Legacy’s map is pretty big, and moving from one location to another can often be time-consuming. Fortunately, Floo Flames come in handy, allowing you to fast-travel to any discovered spot. When you check the map, you will notice that available Floo Flames are colored green. Grey Floo Flames, instead, highlight the location of flames that are yet to be found.
You can unlock them by visiting that area and walking by the Floo Flames. They are quite noticeable, so you should be fine with spotting most flames. However, some are hidden behind closed doors and sections that can’t be accessed until later in the game, so take your time and try to unlock most of them for every accessible location. This way, you will have no issue reaching even the farthest spots when you need to do that. To fast-travel, simply open the map and select one of the Floo Flames that best match your destination.
Sell Gear You Don’t Use
You will obtain lots of gear during your playthrough, which will be extremely useful to help you boost your stats. This includes cloaks, hats, glasses, gloves, vests, and more. However, the Gear slots are limited to only 20 at the start of the game, and filling them up doesn’t take up much time. You will soon find yourself unable to take new gear and have two options: you can destroy your items or sell them at any shop. The latter is obviously the best choice because you will earn some gold as a reward. And don’t worry about the outfits you have unlocked so far. Hogwarts Legacy lets you customize your character’s appearance, so any Gear you have previously acquired will always be available as a cosmetic item. You just need to select Change appearance in the Gear menu for every garnet listed here.

Many of the rewards you get for completing quests and challenges aren't really equipment, just looks. The reason for this is that Legacy of Hogwarts has a transmog system from the very beginning, but it's kind of hidden in the equipment menu. So, in order to enable transmogrification, you must have a piece of equipment for this slot, such as gloves; then on the main gear screen hover over an item slot and you will now find the option to change the appearance. Using the transmog system will allow you to keep your preferred appearance without losing important equipment stats that will help you in combat encounters.
As you progress through the main story, your connection to Ancient Magic will allow you to unlock talents, which are unique upgrades to your combat abilities, core abilities, stealth, spells, and more. Talents are unlocked with talent points, with one talent point rewarded each time you level up your sorcery starting at level 5. Luckily, if you're over level, you'll earn compensation talent points for every level above 5.
If you change the pitch of your voice in the character editor, you may find that it sounds a bit like a robot because a post-processing filter has been applied. Check the Challenges menu frequently for completed Challenges as rewards may not be claimed. Without receiving rewards, any transmogrifications or equipment upgrades, such as inventory space, will not be automatically available to you.
If available, complete all The Appointment of a Professor side quests. These important side quests will be critical to unlocking new spells.
When tracking the main quest, its bright gold waypoint will always take precedence over your personal waypoints on the minimap - they are colored purple. These personal waypoints will not appear until you deselect the main quest.
With that said, when browsing the quest menu, you will be able to preview all the available quests that you can complete. Instead of firing spells individually, focus on combos. For example, Incendio can only be used at close range, so you can use Levioso to start juggling regular spell shots, use Accio to yank an enemy towards you, and then use Incendio to set them on fire.
Aside from Ancient Magic attacks or Stun, enemy shields can only be broken with a spell of the appropriate color: purple, yellow, or red. This can easily get overwhelming, so it can be a good idea to map each face button to a specific color, even across different spell sets that you might end up switching to with the D-pad. For example, on Xbox you can use B for red spells, Y for yellow and X for purple as they are close to blue. Just find the system that works for you and stay consistent!
Speaking of ancient magic, the meter fills up quickly when combined with your main shots, so be sure to use it. Throwing items at enemies (especially red barrels) or hitting both bumpers at the same time can break shields and deal massive damage, often even killing the enemy. You can even choose some talents that will fill up the gauge every time you perform certain actions.
First deal with the enemies standing above you. They like to stay on the edge of the field and pelt you with stuff, so bring them down to your level quickly!
Use stealth whenever you can! Using the Disillusionment spell and Petrificus Totalus, you can sneak around enemy camps and take out enemies stealthily, excluding them from any future fights. You can also use invisible potions during fights to activate stealth even after being spotted.
Visit the Enemy Collection menu for important information about certain enemies, including moves that can be used, weaknesses that can be used, and certain spells that an enemy may be most vulnerable to. Some of them are very context dependent, like blocking a troll's boulder to send it back into it.
It's easy to focus on just the symbols above your head so you know whether to counterattack or dodge. But enemies can also use AOE, even jumping high into the air or burrowing underground to disguise their attacks. So keep your head on the swivel and keep an eye out for a good escape route if things get too difficult.
Almost every time you parry, you have to keep the counter button pressed to make sure you're using Stupefy. You can upgrade Stupefy with certain talents, like giving him the ability to curse enemies or even deal damage on his own.

The Hogwarts legacy is full of secrets, so be sure to read any field guide pages you find. Some even drop clues to use certain spells on the statues to reveal secret passages from Hogwarts to the Sweet Kingdom.
Travel the beaten paths, especially in caves and dungeons, to discover unmarked loot chests - sometimes they can contain valuable items that you can later sell to vendors for quick and easy money.

Note: We will add that later you will not be able to completely change the appearance of your hero, so you should not approach the choice of appearance too lightly. However, you can change individual elements, for example, in hairdressing salons you can change the color of your hair or hairstyle.
Choice Of Difficulty Level
You can choose from four difficulty levels:
History - no tests. You can fully enjoy the story, spending minimal effort on the gameplay. For example, enemies will deal very little damage, and puzzles will no longer have a time limit.
Easy - easy tests. The timer will return to the riddles, and the enemies can cause visible damage, however, even beginners should not have significant difficulties in passing.
Normally balanced tests. The puzzles and combat should not cause much difficulty for experienced players, but can be an insurmountable obstacle for beginner gamers.
Difficult - the real test. Complicated puzzles and strong enemies will be waiting for you.
If you consider yourself an experienced player, but you are playing Hogwarts Legacy for the first time, then we recommend that you select the Normal difficulty level. Veterans of the genre who want to feel a real challenge should immediately select "Difficult".
Faculty Selection
As in the books, the choice of faculty (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin) plays a big role in this project. Firstly, the hostel in which your character will live depends on it. Secondly, each of the faculties has its own separate quest chain (however, it practically does not affect the ending of the main plot).
Thirdly, in each of the faculties you will find a unique companion with whom you can develop friendships. Plus, it will depend on how other students will treat you. For example, Slytherins will be more willing to help their own than students from other dorms.
You won't be able to change Houses after you've made your final choice when putting on the Sorting Hat, so don't take any hasty steps. In a separate guide, we reviewed all the features and benefits of each of the faculties.
Basics Of The Combat System
Already at the very beginning of the game you will encounter various magical creatures. Then, throughout the story, you have to fight with dark wizards, trolls, goblins and other types of enemies. For this reason, the sooner you get comfortable with the local combat system, the better. Be sure to talk to Lucan Shumbsi, the leader of the Crossed Wands Dueling Club, to practice casting spells on the mannequins.
Spells Have A Cooldown
You will deal the main damage to enemies with the help of spells, however, most of them have a rollback time, that is, after using them, they need a certain amount of time to recharge. You can find out when the magic is ready for use again by the icons located in the lower right corner of the screen - if the icon is not yet filled, then the spell is still on cooldown.
We advise you to definitely study the information on how much time it takes to recharge a particular spell (usually the stronger it is, the longer its cooldown time), so that you can correctly build your battle tactics. Don't rely on just one "spell" - always have several spells ready so you can quickly switch between them.
We also recommend that you brew a few concentration potions ahead of time to reduce the cooldown of your most powerful spells.
Focus On One Enemy
Quite often you will have to fight with several opponents at the same time. In this case, we advise you not to spray your forces on all enemies, but to destroy them one by one. To do this, aim at one opponent (he will be highlighted with a white aura, and his name and health bar will appear at the top of the screen), and then start attacking him to the bitter end.
Watch Out For Enemy Attacks
However, in group battles, you should not leave other opponents unattended, because they can still attack you. If you see that a golden halo has appeared above your hero, then this means that the enemy will soon hit you. You can defend against a hit with a Protego or counterattack by stunning your opponent with Stun.
At the same time, do not forget that not all attacks can be defended against - if you see a red halo, it means that the enemy is using an unblockable attack. In this case, you should dodge the blow so as not to take damage.
World Exploration And Quests
Listen to student gossip
While walking around Hogwarts, you will often encounter students talking to each other. We advise you to listen to these conversations, as you may well find out useful information and supplement your knowledge about this universe.
Explore locations and open chests
There are many secrets to be found in Hogwarts, so we advise you to carefully examine every corner of it for valuable collectibles and riddles that hide various treasures. We add that butterflies can also lead to the treasure, so try to follow them.
In addition, when exploring various locations, you can find chests that often contain gold coins needed to purchase various items in merchant shops. By the way, an interactive map of the world can help in finding chests.
Use Spells To Interact With Objects
As you walk around the school, you will probably notice that some objects have a white outline for a short time as you approach them. This indicates the presence of an interactive object nearby or a riddle that can be solved using spells.
For example, you can find "Manual" pages (provide experience points, which speeds up leveling up) by using Revelio on certain objects, as shown in the gif above. We add that you will receive this spell already in the first half of the game and you can use it to reveal various secrets, ranging from secret doors to hidden chests.
Unlock Flying Flame Points For Fast Travel
Flying Flame allows you to instantly move between different locations, which will save you a lot of time when you need to move from one region to another. However, before you can use them, you will first need to find them, so we advise you to pay special attention to finding these "teleports".
Use Quest Tracking So You Don't Get Lost
Open the quest log and make the required quest active so that a dotted line appears on the mini-map leading directly to the area you need. A task marker will also appear on the screen, making it easier to find the desired object.
You Will Not Be Able To Get To Certain Locations On Mounts
There are quite a few areas in the game that you can't get into on a mount, such as caves with small passages. Therefore, you will have to first get off the mount, and only then enter such zones.
Don't forget to collect rewards in the Challenges tab
Open the main menu, and then go to the "Tests" section. Here you will find information on the various challenges available in the game. These, for example, include the collection of pages of the "Manual" in various locations. By completing them, you will receive rewards, which you can just pick up on this tab.
Check The Difficulty Level Of The Enemies On The Map
At the very beginning of the game, you can only wander around Hogwarts, where there are practically no dangerous opponents. However, later you will be able to go to more remote locations. We do not advise you to visit regions that do not correspond to your level, as the enemies there will be able to kill you with one or two hits.
You can check the level of enemies in a particular region on the world map in the upper right corner. The screenshot above shows the corresponding setting.
Sell Excess Equipment In Hogsmeade
As you progress through the game, your inventory will accumulate all sorts of "trash" that you are unlikely to use. We do not advise you to store it for a long time, as this will subsequently complicate your search for the necessary items in your backpack. In addition, you can get extra money to upgrade your used equipment by selling all this junk to merchants in Hogsmeade.
