Making The Money
As long as you have the automatic car wash, money isn't an issue even if you have to go out. Set every part of the station EXCEPT the wash to closed, venture into the sewer, plunk your character in front of the shredder button, set clicks to every 10 minutes.
It's slow, but it takes little to no effort. Also builds up popularity.
EDIT: after 5 days(~47 hrs) away, I've gained approximately $120k and 65% popularity from level 8 to 9.
