Sightseeing Log

Summary of Important Side-Quests Vol.2 image 168

General Information

The Sightseeing Log is a collection of Lore entries on various locations around Eorzea. Clues are listed in the Sightseeing Log for players to decipher and will unlock a bit of background information about each specific location when successfully completed.

The first 20 entries of the A Realm Reborn Sightseeing log are unlocked by completing a level 20 quest A Sight to Behold[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] , available from Naoh Gamduhla[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] at the Carline Canopy (11-13) in New Gridania. The next 60 entries of the A Realm Reborn log are unlocked upon returning to speak with Naoh after finishing the first 20 entries and receiving the Out of Sight achievement[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] . Heavensward's Sightseeing logs are unlocked by talking to Kester Ironheart[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] in Tailfeather after completing the above quest and do not require completion of the first 80.

In order to unlock an entry, you must find the specific location being hinted at and perform a specific emote. A Realm Reborn's logs also require a specific time of day under specific weather with the right emote. You will know when you have found the right spot when the message "You have arrived at a Vista." appears in your chat log. If you move too far away from that spot, the message "You have strayed too far from the Vista." will appear and you'll need to move back so the first message appears again. If you perform the emote at the wrong time of day or in the wrong weather, or if you perform the wrong emote, nothing will happen. If you do the right emote at the right time and under the right conditions, you will be surrounded in a nimbus of light and a large message in gold letters, along with a small picture of the location from your Log Book, will appear on your screen.

Heavensward Sightseeing Log entries are a lot more lenient. There is a glowing blue orb of light showing you the spot where the Vista is (the ARR log locations are invisible, hence the reason for the Vista message.) You also only need to be at the location (standing on that blue orb of light) and perform the right emote in order to unlock that Log entry; there is no time of day or weather requirement.

Completing the entire A Realm Reborn log will reward you with the Out of Sight Out of Mind [ffxiv.gamerescape.com] achievement, which gives you with the Fledgling Apkallu[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] minion when you 'Share a tale' with Jonathas[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] in Old Gridania (at Apkallu Falls.) Completing the 1-42 entries in the Heavensward Log will reward you with the Out of Sight Out of Bounds[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] achievement.

Unlike other quests or battles, the enemies you face here are other players, who will typically behave very differently from A.I. controlled monsters.

PvP only takes place in special instanced areas. You can not become hostile towards other players outside of these areas.

Duty Roulette - FrontlineFrontline is a large-scale, 3-way battle for domination, either in the Carteneau Flats or Seal Rock. The battles generally feature a large open area where three teams of up to 24 players each compete for control of a vast wasteland with allagan technology lying about. There are three modes across two different areas, the Carteneau Flats (CF) and Seal Rock (SR):

"Secure" (CF), where the goal is to be the first team to accumulate a set Tactical Rating score, which is earned from taking control points, defeating opponents, and killing special monsters;

"Slaughter" (CF), which is a team deathmatch mode where the goal is to aquire Tactical Rating purely by defeating opponents and special monsters;

"Seize" (SR), where teams compete to obtain valuable data from Allagan tomeliths which appear around the area.It also contains unique battle mechanics, including "Adrenaline" which is like a personal limit break system, and "battle highs" which reward kill streaks. It differs from The Wolves' Den in that it lasts to a certain score, rather than the last team standing.

Regardless of area and mode, Frontline is made to be accessible to all and has minimal requirements in order to facilitate party matching.

The Wolves' Den

Level 30 Sync - 1 to 4 player queue

Level 40 Sync - 1 to 4 player queue

Level 50 (Matched Party)- 1 to 3 player queue

Level 50 (Light Party) - 4 player only queue

Level 50 (IL 80) (Matched Party)- 1 to 3 player queue

Level 50 (IL 80) (Light Party) - 4 player only queueThe Wolves' Den is a simple, no-holds-barred arena contest for two teams of four players. No rules, no objectives, just fight to be the last team standing! The Wolves' Den is designed for more serious, competitive play and has strict party composition requirements- Each team must have 1 Tank role (Paladin-Gladiator-Warrior-Marauder-Dark Knight, 1 Healer role (White Mage-Conjurer-Scholar-Astrologian, 1 Ranged DPS (Bard-Archer-Summoner-Arcanist-Black Mage-Thaumaturge-Machinist), and one Melee DPS (Monk-Pugilist-Dragoon-Lancer-Rogue-Ninja).

Participation

To participate in any PvP activity, you must be at least level 30 and have met the requirements for a particular event to appear in the Duty Finder before you can participate (See each PvP area above for the requirements for each one). All PvP is accessed through the Duty Finder. There is no cost to participate; however, if you leave a PvP duty instance before it has concluded, you will be unable to participate in PvP duties again for 15 minutes upon exiting.

Once you meet the requirements, it is a simple matter of queuing up in the duty finder for the event and tier you want to participate in. You can join alone, or with a party. Players in the same party will be on the same side in the PvP duty.

Rewards

As you participate in PvP battles, you will earn PvP Experience. When you earn enough, your PvP Rank will increase. Each PvP rank awards Action Points which can be spent to unlock PvP-exlcusive actions and traits. If your current class/job is not level 60, you will also earn normal experience points from non-level 60 battles.

In addition, each PvP event has a selection of items and equipment with stats tailored towards PvP. See the specific content's page for the rewards associated with it. Some PvP equipment may have a rank requirement to equip, and if PvP gear has Materia slots, the materia placed in them will only take effect in PvP content. Outside of this restriction, however, PvP reward gear can be used in any content, with stats equivalent to other gear of the same item level.

Additionally, there is a selection of special mounts, titles, and gear that are earned from PvP-related achievements.

General Information

The Hunt is a system which offers rewards (aka bounties) for killing certain monsters across Eorzea. In A Realm Reborn, the Hunt Boards are found at each Grand Company headquarters and can be accessed only after completing the applicable Let the Hunt Begin[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] quest. For Heavensward, Hunt Boards are found in Foundation (at The Forgotten Knight) and the quest to unlock them is called Let the Clan Hunt Begin[ffxiv.gamerescape.com] . Once accepted, Hunt "Bills" can be reviewed as Key Item in your Inventory.

Non-Elite, Rank B, and One-star Clan Marks denote enemies commonly found in the wilds of Eorzea or as part of a specific F.A.T.E.. These marks can only be killed (generally solo) for their bounties after obtaining the mark bills from the Hunt board. Non-Elite and One-star Clan marks are refreshed daily, while B Marks are refreshed weekly.

A & S Elite Marks denote powerful enemies that only appear under certain conditions. A Ranks are typically able to be defeated by a single party, while S Ranks require multiple parties. In addition to the bounties listed on the Hunt board, elite marks will yield additional rewards. Players are free to pursue elite marks without procuring an elite mark bill from the Hunt board, but they will not be eligible for the bounties stated on the bill.

Allied Seals received from the Hunt can be exchanged for exclusive wares by speaking with the Hunt Billmaster at your Grand Company.
