About Me
Hello everyone, I'm a Grandmasters League of Legends player, gone rogue to become a professional Eternal Return Black Survival player, after the OPL got abolished. I'll be introducing some basic and simple concepts on how to play Chiara, due to my intense skill, and experience of getting usually 1 kill per game.
Why Should I Play Chiara?
Chiara is a fairly simple and also very powerful character. She's great for beginners, as she has easy to understand skills and little complexity. She has powerful strengths, few flaws and is amazing at all levels of play.
She is also one of the cutest, hottest and most attractive characters in the history of humanity, and if you don't think that, you're saying you don't like big tiddy goth gfs. (!!)
Abilities
Passive Ability: Stigma
When Chiara hits an enemy with an ability, she applies a stack of Stigma. Each Stigma reduces the enemy's defense by 2/4/6%. Chiara can apply up to 4 stacks of Stigma onto an enemy, and when the enemy reaches 4 stacks, Chiara's movement speed is increased for 6 seconds.
(Similar to The Black Cleaver)
Q Ability: Hand of Corruption
Chiara fires out an AOE cone damaging ability that slows enemy movement speed by 30%. Hold the ability down for 0.5 seconds, and fire a straight line projectile. Ability cooldown is reduced by 20% when using cone.
(Annie W, merged with Pantheon Q)
W Ability: Depraved Prayer
Chiara creates a shield that absorbs damage. She can hold the shield for 6 seconds, and after 3 seconds, Chiara can reactivate the ability again in order to explode it early to deal damage around her.
(Sion W)
E Ability: Mania
Chiara fires a projectile, dealing damage and attaching to the first enemy hit, linking them to Chiara. If the link is maintained for 1.75 seconds, she deals damage and roots the enemy for 1.5 seconds.
(Leblanc E)
R1 Ability: Plague
Chiara transforms, gaining increased attack range, increased max health, and deals AOE damage in a circle around her for 12 seconds. During this duration, she heals for 10/20/30% damage dealt. She also gains visions of enemies with maximum Stigma stacks, and can cast Last Judgement.
(Swain R)
R2 Ability: Last Judgement
Chiara teleports to an enemy with maximum stacks of Stigma dealing massive amounts of true damage, and ending the Plague. If this executes an enemy, reduce the cooldown of Plague by 50%.
(Garen R)
Weapon Ability: Quick Cut
Dash in a target direction and deal damage to enemies in the path. You can recast this ability if you hit an enemy.
Now, onto the Levelling order.
Spell Oriented build (Mistilteinn as main weapon): R > P > E > W > Q
Auto-Attack Build (Volticletto as main weapon): R > E > W > P > Q
notes:
You can put extra points into W if you want more safety with Mistilteinn.
Remember that you can do a very simple burst execute with this combo: Q, Weapon Ability, R2.
Holding R and E is crucial, as they are on long cooldowns and very important skills.
Execute with R if you can, as it goes on a lower cooldown.
Don't feel pressured to execute with R, if you need to gap close with it.
Always remember to use W2. Try to use it when the shield is low health, that way you get the most value out of it.
Use weapon ability to stick onto enemy
Weapons
The Good Rapiers:The Mediocre Rapiers
Mistilteinn
The most powerful weapon on Chiara, giving all the stats that you'd want, Skill Amplification, Cooldown Reduction, SP Regen, and a bit of Attack Power. However, although it is insanely powerful and gives a lot of exp on completion, it does take an incredibly long time to make, Taking at least 3 zones to complete, and usually 4.
Volticletto
Offers every stat you want on the auto-attack oriented Chiara build. Good Attack Damage, good Attack Speed, Crit amplifiers, and a bit of Cooldown Reduction. Extremely consistent, powerful and a hell of a lot easier to get than some of the other rapiers, with straightforward power-spikes in weapon upgrade. Takes 3 optimal areas to complete the item.
Durendal_mk2
A rapier that competes with Volticletto, exchanging attack speed for vision range. The vision range can be useful, allowing you to use Final Judgement to execute the enemies a bit further, or simply scouting out the enemy, giving you time to decide whether you want to fight. Comes down to personal preference, but be wary as you're sacrificing combat stats for utility. Takes 3 optimal ares to complete the item.
Joyeuse
Grants massive Attack Power, Critical Strike Damage, and a unique stat of increased movement speed. Very powerful, but doesn't actually give you Critical Chance, or any Attack Speed for the Attack Power. Also has a requirement of a rare material, Mithril, which may completely stump you and make you stuck at Fencing Rapier for the entire game. Good weapon, but you're much better with making a Mithril Chestplate rather than the weapon.
Meteor Claymore
Same thing as the Joyeuse, but gives 10% Cooldown Reduction instead of movement speed. However, it is much more consistent, as it builds from Apricot Sword, instead of a Fencing Rapier. Instead of Mithril as the rare material, you have a Meteorite, which is slightly more common, but can still completely stump you.
Gear
ChestHead
Arm
Leg
Accessory
Commander's or: Good for Spell-Oriented Chiara. Gives good defense and good damage, however it doesn't offer anything beyond that and damage isn't something Chiara is too worried about especially if you have a Mistelienn.
Amazoness or: Very tanky, gives good stats of defense, skill damage reduction and health. Allows you to survive which is good. Consistent and powerful.
Butler's Suit. Luxury item. Gives lifesteal, damage and a bit of movement speed. Alright, but doesn't offer enough tankiness.
Mithril or: The fattest tank armor. Hard to get as it requires mithril, but still the item that Chiara abuses the hardest in the entire game giving HUGE defense, making you an absolute menace being able to gain a disgusting amount of health pool with ult and sustain. Stats on dak.gg say if you get this on Chiara, your average ranking is #3.
Imperial Burgonet: Gives decent defense, and a good amount of Cooldown reduction and Skill Amplification. Very solid and easy to make. Works well with a more Skill-Amp build for Chiara.
Tactical OPS Helmet: Amazing for the Auto Attack variant of Chiara. Gives Attack Speed, and decent defense too.
Sword of Shah Ishari: One of the best arm sides for Chiara. Gives decent stats of damage and health and is easily made.
Mithril Shield: Extremely powerful arm equipment, but requires a high roll on a mithril
Creed of the Knight: Incredible stats for Chiara, but reduces movement speed, something which is very vital on Chiara, as she doesn't have any movement speed.
Draupnir: Very decent. Easy to make, and gives good stats for Spell-Oriented Chiara.
EOD Boots: Best boots for Chiara, easy and consistent to make, and gives you the defense and movement speed you need.
Mithril Boots: God tier boots, gives lot of movement speed and good defense.
White Rhinos: Very powerful boots especially against other Chiaras, and Jackies
Feather Boots: Good attack speed and good movement speed. Flaw is that it gives no tankiness.
White Crane Fan: Very powerful accessory, giving healing reduction, something that interacts with your R very well, and screws over enemy pots or skills that might heal them.
Uchiwa: Very nice option to finish off Auto-Attack Chiara. Gives lifesteal and skill amplification, both very powerful stats.
Veritas Lux Mea: Gives Cooldown Reduction and skill amplification, both very nice stats.
Emerald Tablet: God-tier item giving almost every stat you like. Unfortunately it's hard to get, requiring a Force Core.
This is the tanky amp Chiara build that is decently popular.
It is very powerful, as it is incredibly tanky, and does massive amounts of damage. It's also very flexible in its pathing, and there's no rare materials needed for this build.
However you can use the auto-attack build which is much faster tempo, allowing for a much stronger early-mid game. This is my more favoured build, as the weapon power spikes feel significantly better. *green > blue > purple.*
Route
This is the general route you'll be going. Hyperlooping (using the telephone booths) is a vital part of this build and is much harder to play without using it. Always remember to teleport from
Temple > Factory
Chapel > Forest
You can also go from School > Alley rather than Alley > School. This makes it a lot easier with pathing, going from Forest > School > Alley.
This is the general route for Auto-attack based Chiara.
Matchups
Adela:
Adriana: Has a dash, slows and decent damage. She can very easily kite you, avoid the oil she places down and avoid the fire that she shoots. Land E, fight her like normal and you will kill her.
Aya: A very rough matchup that typically favors Aya in the early game. She can dodge your E with her dash, can kite your advances with her W, and can usually outrange you pretty hard even if you have Plague active. However it gets a lot easier when you get your items. Try to step out of vision so that you can hit a close-range E, and then fight her. If not, avoid her at all costs.
Matchup: Avoid early game
Cathy:
Chiara: Skill matchup. Whoever hits more skills, auto-attacks more, or has better gear wins. However it's quite easy to avoid Chiara's as long as you land your E. Fight or don't, it's a skill test.
Matchup: 50/50
Emma:
Fiora: Has one of the most powerful burst in the game. Be very wary, as she can absolutely rip you. However, you should be tanky enough, provided you run the Tanky Amp build, and are able to ult in time.
Matchup: 50/50
Hart: guitar woman. She has 3 dashes, an annoying CC ult and decent damage. This is a good matchup for Chiara however, due to the fact that Chiara can land E and walk into her.
Matchup: Good
Hyejin: bow woman. Another reasonably easy character for Chiara to beat provided you land E. However, she is very dangerous if you miss E, and the player knows how to land her R's.
Matchup: Good
Hyunwoo: A very brawl character with decent CC and damage, meaning you should beat him. You're more tanky, and do more damage. Be wary that he is very tanky as well, and it'll take you a while to kill him.
Matchup: Good
Isol: Annoying gun man. Too bad for him your ult will reveal him, when he goes invisible, meaning he has almost no way to defend himself from you, so you should be able to smash him as long as you land E.
Matchup: Good
Jackie: A very powerful character right now. Can deal a lot of damage really quickly, and has a lot of sustain, especially with dual blades. As long as you kite her out with E, you will beat her.
Matchup: Decent
Li Dailin: Has a lot of damage, and has a very long silence. She is kitable, but is slightly harder due to the fact that she has 3 dashes. Fortunately, when she dashes with her q, she is stuck in an animation, so try to predict that and E in the direction she q's. Unfortunately for her, you're Chiara as well, so when you land your E, you'll probably win.
Matchup: 50/50
Luke: An auto attacking machine that is very popular in solos right now. Use your E when he dashes, and when you root him, use that time to create space between you and him and kite him out.
Matchup: Good
Magnus: A matchup that can be a bit rough to beat. He has a lot of innate tankiness from his passive, has good CC on his E, and has a very effective way of leaving with his R. If you hit your skills, you should beat him however, and he is kitable, provided you dodge his Q's.
Matchup: Good
Nadine: Another character that can kite Chiara out. But you're Chiara. Just don't walk into her traps and be mindful of her dash.
Matchup: Good
Rozzi:
Shoichi: Can be a hard matchup for Chiara. He has a lot of dashes, making it very difficult for you to land E and Q, and even to target him with auto-attacks. However, you have a lot of brute force with R and should still be able to beat him.
Matchup: 55/45
Silvia:
Sissella: Can kite you easily, except Sisella has slows and actual consistent CC. However, does not have a dash, making you able to kill her if you catch her with an E. Don't hold Final Judgement just for the execute, remember that you can also use it as a dash to stick onto her.
Matchup: 50/50
Xiukai: Fatty that does a lot of damage, is beefy, and also has more stronger pots than you. Try to sidestep as you fight him in order to dodge his attacks and you should be fine. Hold on to R a little long as well as it will take a while to get his health low.
Matchup: 55/45
Yuki: Be very wary of his ult. Try to dodge it by sticking near him and walking past him when he ults. If you dodge the fight you will win fairly easily.
Matchup: Good, unless he high rolls god tier loot.
Zahir: Very very uncommon character that can kite you. Has annoying poke. Fight him as fast as possible, or leave if you cannot land your E.
Matchup: Good, unless you let him poke you.
Ending
You are now ready to take on the world with your beautiful waifu Chiara. Go fight the world, and if you miss E on it, run away.
P.S. if you ever want to see the gamings of such character come to twitch.tv/slogdogs, i stream everyday.
