How to Dorfromantik

Understanding Basic Fundamentals

Let's not go over the basic guides like how Dorfromantik plays like. That you have to build certain village-eal stuff.

Basic gameplay loop of the game is to place the hexagonal tiles till you run out of it. However, this will fall short if you want to score good points. The game will reward you points (and tiles) by either completing the quests, making perfect placements or completing flag quests.

Quests in general (the ones where you need specific numbers) are of two types. The one with exact numbers and the one which have '+' in the end. Try to prioritise '+' ones, as they'll be easier and less messy for you to attain. Go for exact number ones only when possible, otherwise you'll end up wasting the tiles for you. In nutshell, prioritise '28+' quests over '28' quests. Completing quests gives you 5 tiles.

Perfect tile placement occurs when all 6 edges of a tile connect to the like parts, like forest with forest or fields with fields. The perfect tile placement gives you 60 points and also adds one tile to your collection. This can be a game changer. The map has to be sorted and well divided to make it a less messy iteration of the map and also easier for you to complete the quests. For example, you wouldn't want to have rails and river together because you'll need a station tile for placement, and that area will be rendered futile for a long time and will remain futile if you haven't unlocked the station tile.

The flag quests will come when you complete some normal quests. The goal is simple. You have to close down the area, and it will just worm like a normal quest — give you points and also 5 tiles. I'd suggest to wait till you get 2–4 flags so that you can use it to your advantage.

The game while a Zen game can be extremely stressful and tedious multiple times. So worry not to take your time and understand the game.

Understanding Game Modes

The game modes however are of a few types:

Classic mode

The generic mode in which you have to place tiles till you run out of them and can unlock special tiles. This is one of the few modes which have scoring system and also a few which features achievements.

Creative mode

As the name suggests, you have infinite supply of tiles and have freedom to create whatever deems you fit. This has extra features like having privilege to create specific tile (by pressing 'M') and also the privilege to copy the specific tile for the ease of placing it somewhere else

Quick mode

It's classic mode, but with half the amount of tiles you have in classic mode.

Hard mode

It's classic mode but harder. Quests are in less numbers and also have complexer tiles.

Monthly Challenges

Devs release a seeded game each month, in which you have to score the maximum and compete with others in leaderboards.

Custom Mode

It's Creative Mode but with far more freedom and customisability like setting themes, specific seed etc.

Specialised Tiles

In every game session, you'll get at least three pseudo-tiles to which you'll have to reach, fulfil its quest to unlock the achievement. When you're new, you might think that it'll be better to just spam the tiles to that quest tile. But in a longer run, it can be detrimental for your run. Try to get to those tiles organically and then fulfil the quest to unlock the achievement to complete. This can however take time. I suggest going for it slowly and steadily.

After you fulfil that specialised tile quest, you'll unlock an achievement and if you complete the achievement(s), you'll get extra tiles exception being the "Place the tile x times" for it unlocks the theme for the game until the 6th phase.

And this is it. Have fun with the game. Good luck.
