Fastest Guide to 100% Achievements: Dead Space Remake

Quick Guide

Total Achievements: 47

Type of Achievements: Offline (47), Online (0).

Minimum Number of Runs: 3

Missable Achievements: (At Least) 13. There is no free roam after finishing the game. However, you can back-track to any location until end of the Chapter 11 during your playthrough. You must get some achievements in the designated chapters. Not everything will be moved to your next playthrough.

Difficulty-Dependent Achievements: 2

Glitched Achievements: 0

Disclosure

I am proposing this guide for all-around users to unlock 100% of achievements in the fastest way. I know that you can reach 100% even faster in some games for a professional gamer. However, I am aiming for guides that will also benefit users with no experience with the game. So normally, there are no suggestions like doing the first run in the hardest difficulty.

SPOILER ALERT is in order as some details about the story of the game will be revealed here.

First Run

Fastest Guide to 100% Achievements: Dead Space Remake image 11

In this run, you are going to enjoy the story in the minimum difficulty, “Story”, and get 34 out of 47 achievements along the way. Time-wise, this would be your longest run and you should investigate every corner of the game for side missions, weapons, logs, etc.

For this run, I am breaking the achievements into two groups:

1. “Continuous Achievements” are the achievements that you must do and trace in different parts/chapters of the game.

2. “Standalone Achievements” are the achievements that you must do in a specific location of the game.

Some notes for this run:

1. Remember to save a lot so you can backtrack if something is missed.

2. Until the end of Chapter 11, you have the option to backtrack to almost everything. Anyway, I am listing the achievements below in the possible order that they will probably pop up for you.

3. I have put the word "MISSABLE" for some of the achievements. That is the case for achievements that you have to do in one run. I strongly suggest doing these achievements either in the first run or in the second.

4. Don’t get too easy with your spending. Try to gather as many as resources you can to put together some good money. You will need this to buy some stuff from the store for your first and second runs.

5. There is an achievement to complete the game using only a specific weapon, Plasma Cutter. That is the first gun you will pick up in the game. On the other hand, you have to kill 30 enemies for every type of weapon to get some other achievements. I suggest using only Plasma Cutter for your first run and using all other weapons in your second run. This way you get more prepared for your third run. Anyway, the choice is yours.

6. If you are going with Plasma Cutter, try to upgrade it to the max. Also consider upgrading your RIG to the maximum. If you are going with other weapons, upgrading them to the max will be in order then.

Collectible Achievements

Marksman

Dismember 50 Limbs.

Chapters Involved: Any.

You can use any weapon to dismember body parts of the Necromorphs. Plasma Cutter is probably the best choice, however, it can be done by other weapons as well.

Raise The Stakes

Pin an enemy.

Chapters Involved: Any.

You need a sharp metal object to perform this attack on an enemy. You can grab graters, ceiling fans, or pipes using your Kinesis and then throw them off to the enemies. This will grant you the achievement. If you are stuck on this, here is a link to a video to show you how that is done easily:

Brute Force

Kill a Brute.

Chapters Involved: 4 and onward.

Not directly part of the story, but you need to kill one of these in Chapter 4 of the game. You need to get behind the Brute to finish it off.

Pack Rat

Place 25 items in Storage.

Chapters Involved: Any.

You will get upgrades on your inventory as you proceed through the game. Just remember to send some items to your storage as your storage slots grow until you have 25 items there and the achievement is yours.

Surgeon

Dismember 500 Limbs.

Chapters Involved: Any.

Similar to the Marksman achievement, you have to use any weapon to dismember body parts of the Necromorphs. Plasma Cutter is probably the best choice, however, it can be done by other weapons as well.

Exterminator

Kill the Leviathan.

Chapters Involved: 6.

Part of the story. You have to kill it to go through the story.

Get Off My Ship!

Kill the Leviathan Remnant.

Chapters Involved: 8.

Part of the story. You have to kill it to go through the story.

Front Toward Enemy

Survive the Shooting Gallery.

Chapters Involved: 9.

MISSABLE!

This achievement can only be done in Chapter 9 of the game while you are in USM Valor, hence a missable one. Once you are in the armory, just head to the shooting gallery and start the sequence. There will be some targets popping up which is irrelevant to the achievement. Just wait for enemies, not targets, to show up and defeat them all. Then you will have your achievement. If you need more help, I have made a dedicated video on this and the link is below:

Freeze

Use Stasis on 50 enemies.

Chapters Involved: Any.

This is rather an easy one as you just have to use Stasis on enemies in your run. Just remember to pop it up as you go through the game and the achievement is yours.

Z-Baller

Complete Level 6 in Zero-G Basketball.

Chapters Involved: 10.

In Chapter 10, when you are in the crew's quarter, you need to head to the game area next to the Cafeteria in the Crew Deck. You cannot miss this one as you need to pick up a battery for a lift in this room.

For the achievement, you need to shoot a ball with Kinesis into four hoops. Please note that if the hoop is glowing, you will get 10 points. Otherwise, you will get 5 points for each successful shot. You will get extra points for completing each level. To complete the level 6, you need to score 220 points. From level 3 onward, some hoops might get closed with a random chance. Your time is cumulative so try not to miss any shots at the beginning. You will have a lot easier task to do if you focus on scoring the glowing hoops, so aim for those if you can.

By the way, after your first try, there will be some enemies spawning in the game room, so finish those off before actually trying for the achievement. If you need a visual how-to, I have linked a video below to show you can easily get this one done:

There's Always Peng!

Find the Peng Treasure.

Chapters Involved: 11.

Rather an easy one, this one it is. You have to get a log in Chapter 3 to know where to look for this treasure... which turns out to be in Cargo Bay, reachable in Chapter 11. One can consider this one as a missable because soon after this area, you will be leaving Ishimura for good. Just follow the guide below to pick it up and selling the item will earn you 30,000 credit points in the game:

Backbreaker

Kill 10 enemies with a stomp attack.

Chapters Involved: Any.

Perhaps the best time to stomp enemies is whenever you have used Kinesis on them. Doing so 10 times will earn you the achievement. Two notes here, one being that you need to finish the enemies with a stomp attack. So you can weaken the enemies in other ways and finish them off with stomp attack(s). The other note is that you need to perform lots of these attacks in "Impossible" mode for your 3rd run, so I suggest doing some training.

Mindless Prey

Kill the Hive Mind.

Chapters Involved: 12.

Part of the story. You have to kill it to finish the story.

Story Teller

Collect 75 Logs.

Chapters Involved: All chapters.

MISSABLE!

There are 188 logs in total in the entire game. If you follow the story properly as indicated in this guide, you will get 104 logs just by following the story. So this achievement should be a breeze for you. If you need help finding the logs anyway, I made a proper full guide for all 188 logs and the link is below:

Full Arsenal

Own every weapon in the game.

Chapters Involved: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

MISSABLE!

Every time you pick up a new weapon, there is a short scene in which Isaac picks it up and examines it shortly. There are 9 weapons in the entire game, out of which you will get 3 as part of the story. If you happen to miss a gun, you can go back and collect it before end of the Chapter 11 or you can collect it in your "New Game +" run. Anyways, if you need help finding the weapons, I have made a guide on this in the video below:

Final Regeneration

Discover the Hunter's origins.

Chapters Involved: 5, 7, and 8.

MISSABLE!

In Chapter 5, when you are done with the Hunter, there is a sample tissue remaining that you can collect. By doing so, you will trigger a side mission, named "Premeditated Malpractice".

For this side mission, you have to discover the hunter's origin to uncover a side story about the game. There is no combat involved here and you just have to interact with logs and holograms to complete the mission.

Once you pick up the sample issue after defeating the hunter, the mission will be added to your objective list. You have to collect all the logs in one playthrough as the missions are not going to be carried over to your next run. This side mission is back-trackable up to Chapter 11 and the chapters shown above mark the first time you can do those mission objectives. I have linked a guide below showing the steps in the order they will show up in the game as you make progress through the story:

Full Clearance

Create the Master Security Override.

Chapters Involved: 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11

MISSABLE!

For this achievement, you have to get all the RIGs of Ishimura's high ranks to unlock the "Master Level" clearance. This side mission is a little different as you get the first collectible of the mission in Chapter 3, and then the objective actually starts in Chapter 4 where you meet Hammond in the Captain's Nest. The side mission unlocks when you interact with the administrative console in Captain's Nest, and it is called "You Are Not Authorized".

For this side mission, you have to gather 7 different RIGs and bring them back to Captain's Nest to have the master security override for Isaac. Doing so will grant you access to some resources and weapons upgrades, which you need for other achievements (more below). For a few of the RIGs, you need a clearance level 3, which will be unlocked after Chapter 7. For a few others, you have to backtrack and freely roam the Ishimura.

You have to collect all the RIGs in one playthrough as the missions are not going to be carried over to your next run. With that level of clearance, you get a chance in Chapter 10 or 11 to freely roam the Ishimura and get those upgrades. This side mission is rather important as it will help you achieve two other achievements:

1. "Maxed Out" Achievement for which you have to fully upgrade all weapons and equipment.

2. "Built To Order" Achievement for which you have to install every weapon upgrade.

I have linked a video guide below that will show the location of RIGs in the order they will show up in the game as you make progress through the story:

In case you are wondering what other stuff a "Full Clearance" or "Master Level Override" will bring for you, I have made another video just to show what can be achieved:

Merchant

Collect all Schematics.

Chapters Involved: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

MISSABLE!

For this achievement, you have to get all the Schematics in the game. Schematics are collectibles scattered in the game that will open an upgrade for your weapons or your RIGs. There are 13 Schematics in total. Most of them are back-trackable, except the one in Chapter 9. You require a 2nd-level clearance for the 11th Schematics, which is doable after completing Chapter 7.

Once again, this collecting mission is back-trackable up to Chapter 11 and the chapters shown above are marking the first time you can get the Schematics.

I have linked a video guide below showing the Location, Chapter, and Objective of the Story of the time best to collect the Schematics as you make progress through the story:

I got the achievement earlier in the video because I had to backtrack for 4th Schematics. So it might be that my map on the video is not showing the objective provided as a hint on the video, but that is completely okay as it does not affect your playthrough.

Legend Teller

Collect 150 Logs.

Chapters Involved: All chapters.

MISSABLE!

There are 188 logs in total in the entire game. If you follow the story properly as indicated in this guide, you will get 104 logs just by following the story, as mentioned for the Story Teller Achievement.

For the rest of 46 logs, you need to do some detours. Some are fairly easy to find as they are usually on the tables or thrown on the ground at the corners. Out of that 188, there are 118 audio logs, 30 video logs, and 40 text logs. Also note that there are 172 logs related to the main story, while there are 16 logs related to side missions.

Anyway, I made a proper full guide for all 188 logs and the link is below. The video guide will cover ALL the logs that can be found in the Dead Space Remake.

There is also one additional log that is not listed in the game itself. If I understood correctly, there is a log that has two versions, depending on how you do a sequence in the game (Log 85).

Whole Again

Pursue Nicole's investigation.

Chapters Involved: 2, 3, 7, and 10.

MISSABLE!

In Chapter 2, when you are in the Main Lab, you can easily spot Nicole's office. There is a log there that you can collect. By doing so, you will trigger a side mission, named "Scientific Methods".

For this side mission, you have to pursue Nicole's investigations to uncover a side story about the game. There is no combat involved here and you just have to interact with logs and holograms to complete the mission.

Note that you have to pick up the first audio log from Nicole's office to start the mission. I wanted to express this part as it will help you find the location of logs later on. You have to collect all the logs in one playthrough as the missions are not going to be carried over to your next run. This side mission is back-trackable up to Chapter 11 and chapters shown in the video are marking the first time you can do that mission objectives. I have linked a video guide below showing the steps in the order they will show up in the game as you make progress through the story:

Built To Order

Install every weapon upgrade.

Chapters Involved: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11.

MISSABLE!

For this achievement, you have to gather all weapon upgrades in the game. To unlock the achievement, you must install all the upgrades onto the weapons via the Bench. Please remember that only picking up the upgrade or buying it from the Shop will not earn you the achievement.

There are 21 weapon upgrades in total, out of which 7 will be unlocked when you pick up a weapon. This will open a new item in the shop after picking up the weapon. You need to go to any shop, buy the upgrade, and carry it in your inventory when engaging with the Bench. All of the weapons/upgrades are back-trackable until the end of Chapter 11, but you need to collect the Plasma Cutter for story progression so that is not really missable. If you happen to miss one of them in your playthrough, you can collect the rest in your "New Game +" and still earn the achievement. There is a carry-over for the weapons/upgrades.

Some of the weapon upgrades require the Master Security Clearance. For that, you need to complete a side mission named, "You are not authorized", which will grant you the "Full Clearance" achievement as well. With that level of clearance, you get a chance in Chapter 10 or 11 to freely roam the Ishimura and get those upgrades. Once again, I have linked a video guide below to show the weapons/upgrades in the order they will show up in the game as you make progress through the story:

One Gun

Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter.

Chapters Involved: All Chapters.

Since Plasma Cutter is the first gun you are going to pick, then you have to stick to that one for the rest of the game. Not to worry though as that is one of the most powerful guns in the game. You have to aim properly for smaller enemies, but generally, that is a powerful gun.

I suggest upgrading the weapon every chance you get. In the difficulty of this run, I propose upgrading the gun over the RIG.

Important note here is that if you pick up or equip other weapons, you are completely fine with this achievement. Firing the other guns will ruin the achievement. I suggest not equipping other guns not to have them fired by mistake as well.

Congratulations! You are ready now for your 2nd run of the game.

In your second run, you are going to redo the game in a "New Game Plus" mode and unlock 11 achievements out of a total of 47. You are doing this run to finish the game in the minimum difficulty, Story, to see the alternative ending. Naturally, you will have all of your items from your first run, such as stash inventory, upgrades, and nodes. Please consider the following points for this run:

1. Since we used only the Plasma Cutter in the first run, in this run we are using all other weapons to kill 30 enemies with each. Once you get the achievement for a weapon, switch to the next one. My main weapons for the run are Contact Beam and Plasma Cutter.

2. With all the nodes gathered in the first run and the second, you will have more than enough nodes to upgrade all weapons and equipment. Anyways, I suggest having Contact Beam, Line Gun, or Force Gun equipped all the time as this will cause enemies to drop ammo for these weapons which have higher selling prices in store. This will enable you to buy back more nodes in the store. You got to upgrade the RIG level 6 for the achievement.

3. Remember to gather all fragments and place them in the designated place before the end of Chapter 11 for the alternative ending.

In the following video, you can see a full walkthrough of how this can be done:

I am listing the achievements in the order they will show up in your second run according to this guide:

Marked

Pick up a marker fragment for the first time.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter, except 9 and 12.

MISSABLE!

There are 12 markers in total in a game of "New Game Plus". This achievement will be done whenever you pick up a marker fragment for the first time. These 12 markers will trigger the alternative ending, earning you the "Reunion" achievement.

I am linking a video guide below to help you find the location of any markers of your choice:

Autofire

Kill 30 enemies with the Pulse Rifle.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

Please see the comments for the second run above.

Pusher

Kill 30 enemies with the Force Gun.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

Please see the comments for the second run above.

Wishbone

Rip off a dangling limb usisng Kinesis.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

You have the option to perform the maneuver on an enemy. However, you can do this way easier by performing an act on one of the dangling RIGs in the evacuation rooms. You can simply perform Kinesis on the legs and have the achievement in your listing. I marked this achievement in the full video guide above as well, in case you need to see how it is done.

Live With The Hot Ones

Kill 30 enemies with the Flamethrower.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

Please see the comments for the second run above.

Full Contact

Kill 30 enemies with the Contact Beam.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

Please see the comments for the second run above.

A Cut Above

Kill 30 enemies with the Ripper.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

Please see the comments for the second run above.

Eviscerator

Kill 30 enemies with the Line Gun.

Chapters Involved: Any Chapter.

Please see the comments for the second run above.

Maxed Out

Fully upgrade all weapons and equipment.

Chapters Involved: All Chapters.

MISSABLE!

As mentioned in the first run and also in the second, you need to save a little on your money and also have the weapons equipped which cause the enemies to drop the highest-price-selling ammo. If you have followed that, it is definitely going to guarantee enough nodes to upgrade all the weapons to the max. You should have all the weapons and the schematics from the first run already. I assume you have Plasma Cutter and RIG up to the maximum already from the first run.

As you may have seen in the full guide video above for this run, I have gathered an extra 140 nodes by late last chapter of the game. That allowed me to upgrade all weapons fully to their maximum and earning the achievement.

Reunion

See the alternative ending on any difficulty mode.

Chapters Involved: All Chapters.

MISSABLE!

There are 12 markers in total in a game of "New Game Plus". This achievement will be done whenever you pick up a marker fragment for the first time. These 12 markers will trigger the alternative ending, earning you this achievement. Needless to say, you have to complete these achievements in "New Game Plus" sessions as the marker fragments only show up in a "New Game Plus".

You do not need to collect all the marker fragments in one run as there is a carry-over for them, but you get the alternative ending only when you have all 12 marker fragments placed in Captain Mathius's room. The marker fragments can be collected at any time before the end of Chapter 11 and the chapters shown in the video are marking the first time you can collect the markers. I have linked a video guide below to show the steps in the order they will show up in the game as you make progress through the story:

Trusted Contractor

Complete New Game Plus on any difficulty mode.

Chapters Involved: All Chapters.

So with whatever mentioned for this run, this achievement will be in your pocket by finishing the first run. Again, you have to do this on minimum difficulty and getting all markers to have the alternative ending as well.

Congratulations! You are ready now for your 3rd and final run of the game. Buckle up as that is not an easy one!

Third Run

Fastest Guide to 100% Achievements: Dead Space Remake image 319

Fastest Guide to 100% Achievements: Dead Space Remake image 321
Fastest Guide to 100% Achievements: Dead Space Remake image 322

In your third run, you are going to do the game in a "New Game" mode and unlock 2 achievements out of a total of 47 at the end. You are doing this run to finish the game in the maximum difficulty, Impossible. Naturally, you will lose all of your inventory so no carry-over from your last game, so get ready for your hardest run. In the Impossible mode, you have one slot of save and if you die, your Impossible run is over. Your game will turn into a Hard difficulty game and you have to start from the beginning to do the Impossible mode. You are free to use that one slot of save as often as you like.

The objective here is not do die. Nothing else. The difficulty-related achievements in Dead Space Remake are stacked. So if you achieve this one, then you will get the other achievement for which you have to beat the game in Medium difficulty or above. Please consider the following points for this run (times are referring to the video guide shared below):

1. Impossible Mode in Dead Space Remake means NO DEATHS. So obviously no rushing, no running with an empty weapon, no walking without a Stasis charge, keep your health to the fullest as soon as you can, always prefer a health package to ammo if your inventory is full, and always have a health pack in your inventory (Example: 2:42:25), know the keystroke to immediately fill the health with available health packs, use Kinesis to hit enemies with sharp objects (Example: 0:33:40), and try to save ammo and get loots when no enemies are around.

2. It is extremely hard to comment on enemies in this game as there is a strong RNG (Random Number Generator) and because of that, enemies can pop up from anywhere. That said, whenever you are close to a Stasis charger, use Stasis on enemies and try to stomp them. A good example of that is Chapter 1 in the Tram Repair Room (0:15:00).

3. Considering point 2, make sure that at ALL COSTS, you always have at least one Stasis charge in your RIG for emergency runaways (Example: 2:35:33).

4. I am doing the run with three weapons so I would only need to upgrade one weapon, the Contact Beam. You really need to upgrade your RIG just once as shown in the video (0:29:30). For weapons, upgrade the Contact Beam only. Other upgrades are unnecessary.

5. Be ready and fully reload your weapons before the Tendril grabbing parts. They are unforgiving. Examples are 0:57:15 and 3:38:44.

6. For the Wheezers, remember to exactly follow the video (1:55:02) so you can make it a little shorter and avoid some death scenarios.

7. For this boss fight (2:54:47), do as shown in the video. Do the first canon. Then use the second cannon to perform 8 shots after its shield is gone, but do not destroy the target. Go to the third one, finish that off, and then come back to the second for the last three or two remaining shots.

8. Skip all side missions. They are not worth it for this run.

Set A Benchmark

Complete the game on Medium difficulty or above.

Chapters Involved: All Chapters.

Untouchable

Complete the game in Impossible Mode.

Chapters Involved: All Chapters.

Wrap-Up

Hope that helps you secure 100% of your achievements in the fastest way. Please feel free to comment or add me for any questions regarding this guide.

Please rate up this article if you liked the guide or if it helped you in any way.

Many thanks and enjoy your time doing the challenges.
