Core Keeper Music Theory

Basics

The music staff the games uses starts on the note "C" which is the "Z" key. (or the "Q" key for a higher octave). I won't get to deep into music theory.

The in-game staff has 4 lines and 3 spaces. Each line and space is a note.

Starting at the very bottom line

B-------------------------------------

A

G-------------------------------------

F

E-------------------------------------

D

C-------------------------------------

(C-D-E-F-G-A-B)

On the keyboard, this translate to:

Z-X-C-V-B-N-M

1 octave up =

Q-W-E-R-T-Y-U

B(M/U)-------------------------------------

A(B/Y)

G(B/T)-------------------------------------

F(V/R)

E(C/E)-------------------------------------

D(X/W)

C(Z/Q)-------------------------------------

Opening Music Doors

The first note is a "G" on keyboard that is "T" (or "B)

The screenshot would be played as follows:

B-Z-C-V

Z-C-V-B

or (octave up)

T-Q-E-R

Q-E-R-T

Flats & Sharps

The 2-3-5-6-7 and S-D-G-H-J keys are flats (b) & sharps (#)

If you see a note having a "#" next to it, that means the note is "sharp."

C# = 2 (or S)

D# = 3 (or D)

F# = 5 (or G)

A# = 6 (or H)

B# = 7 (or J)

If it has a "b" next to it, that means it is a "flat" note.

Db = 2 (or S)

Eb = 3 (or D)

Gb = 5 (or G)

Ab = 6 (or H)

Bb = 7 (or J)

There is no flat or sharp between the notes E and F.

If you see an E#, you'll play an F. If you see an Fb, you'll play an E.

Using the same screenshot as an example.

If the 2nd note on the first half had a # sign after it and on the second half, the 4th note had a b sign after it.

It would play like this:

T-2-E-R

Q-E-R-5

If you are familiar with the piano layout. The keyboard is set up similarly to that.
