Magical Gold Guide

Magical Gold Guide

Intro

Update 26 added in severan achievements with the "Magical Gold" achievement being the hardest out of all of them; not only do you have to farm for multiple Golden Bloons, but you have to do it with Magic Monkeys only. Luckily, this guide will make the grind for this achievement somewhat easier, although, unfortunately, not short.

Disclaimer

For most of the maps, the first two Golden Bloons (Waves 21-40) are able to be popped. However, the later waves are only able to be done reliably if there's enough space to set up multiple Ninja Monkeys for Shinobi Tactics and good coverage for Flash Bomb. Maps like Cubism are great for this, due to the potential for both 20 Shinobi Tactics Ninjas at once and good map coverage. Even when completely prepared, it's possible to fail popping the Golden Bloon due to heavy RNG, where the Bloon can move forward or backward if attacked. It's also worth pointing out that Golden Bloons event isn't always up, changing availability with Monkey Teams every now and then.

Golden Bloon Properties

Golden Bloons are immune to added damage, meaning that towers like Sniper Monkeys, Crossbow Dart Monkeys, and Arcane Mastery Wizards only deal 1 layer worth of damage as opposed to the multiple layers that other Bloons would take. Any attempts to instantly kill (ie Druid of The Jungle) will only deal one damage

Upon taking damage, Golden Bloons become temporarily invincible, moving at 3.5x speed of a Red Bloon

Golden Bloons will spawn randomly once every 10 waves, starting at wave 21 and ending before Freeplay begins, regardless of difficulty.

When attacked, Golden Bloons will move backward or forward.

Contrary to the Bloons wiki, Golden Bloons can have their Camo properties stripped.

Golden Bloons can be stripped of Fortified properties, and it does decrease the amount of pops required. Defortified Golden Bloons still give the Monkey Money bonus that Fortified Bloons have on pop. https://youtu.be/70WYGatl0Ek

A table of Golden Bloon HP and immunities for Hard Mode is available for convenience.

Underlined Health values represent values when Fortified, if stripped the values will be decreased.

Wave Layers/HP Properties 21-30 8 N/A 31-40 10 Camo 41-50 12 Lead 51-60 14 Camo, Lead 61-70 21 Camo, Lead, Fortified 71-80 23 Camo, Lead, Fortified, Purple

Maps are assumed to be Beginner maps. Depending on the map, stopping at Wave 40 is preferable to going all the way to Wave 80. Hero used should be Benjamin because he doesn't interfere with the Golden Bloon plus cash generation. Video demonstration is on Frozen Over.

WAVES 1-10Set up either a Wizard near spawn or a Ninja at an area with good coverage.

Set up Benjamin if you have enough cash for him.

WAVES 11-20If you couldn't afford Benjamin previously, place him down immediately. Set up a 01x Alchemist at spawn. Set up 012 Alchemists across the map in order to cover the track with Acid Pools.

WAVES 21-30GOLDEN BLOONS BEGIN TO SPAWN

Make sure you upgrade your Wizard to x03 before Wave 31 because the Golden Bloon will have Camo properties that needs to be stripped to have Alchemists target it, or if you don't mind spending Monkey Money, deploy a Camo Trap at the beginning of the map. Optionally upgrade the Alchemist at spawn to 023 to deal with Fortifieds and to make cash off of Leads.

WAVES 31-40GOLDEN BLOON HAS CAMO PROPERTY

If you're going to stay until Wave 80, upgrade your Ninja to 103 to pop the Golden Bloon and begin deploying 5-6 Ninjas for Shinobi Tactics. If not, just keep setting up anti-Golden Bloon measures for the remaining rounds.

WAVES 41-50GOLDEN BLOON HAS LEAD PROPERTY

Upgrade your current 000 Ninjas to 030. Only upgrade to 130 if the Ninja cannot reach the Flash Bomb Ninja without it.

WAVES 51-60GOLDEN BLOON HAS CAMO AND LEAD PROPERTY

Get another 103 Ninja within the radius of the Shinobi Ninjas to deal with Golden Bloons. Keep placing down x30 Ninjas to further boost the Flash Bomb Monkeys. If needed, replace one of the Shinobi Ninjas with the Flash Bomb.

WAVES 61-70GOLDEN BLOON HAS CAMO, LEAD, AND FORTIFIED PROPERTIES

Make sure your Alchemists are 022 so they can strip Fortified property off of Golden Bloons.

Get at least one of your x30 monkeys to x40 to help slow down the Golden Bloon when it appears. Get a 104 Ninja and upgrade your Flash Bomb Ninjas to Sticky Bomb to deal with MOABs.

WAVES 71-80GOLDEN BLOON HAS CAMO, LEAD, FORTIFIED, AND PURPLE PROPERTIES

If your Flash Bomb Ninjas still need more Shinobi boosts, set up more x30 Ninjas for the boosts. Set up more 104 Ninjas if needed. At this point the only thing you need to worry about is if RNG will favor you or not.

Note that even when prepared I missed half of the Golden Bloons.

Outro

This achievement will take a while to grind due to RNG affecting both the Golden Bloon's spawn wave and direction it moves upon being damaged, don't be disappointed if you don't pop the Golden Bloons all the time, especially if you decide to stay on certain maps versus jumping to a new, better map to grind for. Good luck grinding!
