How to Add a Video / Audio Delay After Saving a Recording

How to Add a Video / Audio Delay After Saving a Recording

Introduction

After recording a video in Animaze you can download and install OpenShot on your PC. It's a free open source video editing tool.

We are aware that, during Early Access, videos recorded via the "Record" button in Animaze may result in video files with out-of-sync audio, regardless of voice effects. Until we finalize and optimize the video recording feature, this guide will present two methods to improve video-audio synchronization.

Before starting your video recording, remember to properly light the room and calibrate the tracker to improve the tracking accuracy. To learn more about lighting and webcam setup, check our FAQs on our site animaze[.]us/faq.

Record the video in Animaze, and then sync the audio using a 3rd party audio/video editor with an audio-offset.

The sound latency varies depending on the microphone and driver combinations. Combinations result in the audio playing faster than the video. Other combinations result in the reverse. Counteract sound latency by resyncing the Video and Audio by adding a bit of audio delay/offset as follows:

1. Open OpenShot video editor and drag your Animaze Recording over the "Project Files" tab.

2. From the "Project Files" tab, drag the video to one of the Timeline Track.

3. Right-click on the video in the Timeline tab and go to "Separate Audio->Single Clip".

4. Move the audio bar to sync with the action in the video.

5. Export the video in any format you choose.

Capture video and audio using a 3rd party AV capture software.

Alternatively, if you are a more advanced user, consider using an external video capture software suite such as OBS to capture your video and audio. After finishing the recording, adjust the sound delay in OBS.
