Road Map Of Developments
Updated 26/01/2022
Patch #15 - Build 19517
Added 21/02/2022
Today's patch has the much anticipated performance stabilization fixes for our last patch. We apologize for it taking so long to get a hotfix out, but our internal tests showed drastically improved performance so we hope that you all experience similar results. Let us know how it plays!
More information on Update 3 will hopefully arrive in the coming weeks, as we have lots of exciting stuff to share and show off.
Changes & FixesTracks & Railways
Fixed a few issues related to speed limits on sections near Gorzów, Dresden, and PragueGameplay
Inverted the colouring on the chassis weight comparison – Down good, up bad. Now down green, not red. Now up red, not green. This makes me want to do a whole series of patch notes written like a caveman. Maybe one day…
Fixed an issue with cars randomly disappearing – Technically this was not auto theft because nobody reported them stolen
Fixed an issue where there were incorrect images for some train parts – I tried replacing them with memes, but the coders caught meStability & Performance
Fixed an issue with culling volumes that were causing frequent FPS drops – No jokes on this one, let us know how your performance is!

FAQ's
Q: Can I Delete Saved Games And Careers?Q: How Does The Route Planner Differ From The Regular Map?Q: How Do I Hire My First Employee?Q: Can I Deliver Just Postage Without Passengers?Q: What Are Contracts?Q: What Is A Delivery?Q: Are Passengers And Postage Considered Contracts Or Deliveries?Q: Where Can I Get A List Of Keyboard Shortcuts?Q: Will We Be Able To Remap Inputs?Q: Will Mods Be Available In The Future?Q: Will We Be Able To See The Trains That We Manage On The Tracks?Q: What Does "Wait For Full Delivery" Mean In Employees Tasking Area?Q: Why Are ICE Trains Only Found In Scenarios And Not Free Roam?Q: Why Are ICE Trains Speed Limited?A: With the finalisation of our career customisation system, it will be very easy to manage careers as well as changing/modifying the difficulty of in-progress careers. Until now saves were stored in game's folder at Steam\steamapps\common\TrainLife\Saved\SaveGames. Hencefoth all save files will find a new home at this location: Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\TrainLife\Saved\SaveGames Deleting these saves files you do so at your own risk.
A: The Route Planner is used to specifically determine the stations you, the player, would like to visit for performing Passenger and Postage tasks. The regular map does not have any logical connection between the game modes, and functions as expected, with way-points and station information. We do have plans to simplify this in the future.
A: You unlock your first Employee Driver slot after reaching the first level, with more unlocking as you continue to level up. With the slot unlocked, you can hire an Employee and assign them a locomotive. At the start, this will require you to own more than one locomotive, so purchasing an additional one at a Service Centre will be necessary.
A: Absolutely! When adding wagons to your train, forego adding any passenger wagons. You can then travel to City Warehouses and perform Postage deliveries just as you would perform Passenger deliveries.
A: Contracts are timed, and specific, requests between two cargo stations. You will be required to take a certain number of wagons to a predetermined destination, and within a certain time frame. Being faster than that time will result in a bonus multiplier for your reward, while being slower will result in a penalty multiplier.
A: Deliveries are non-timed and 'free' transportation options, allowing you to take any number of wagons from a station to any other station that accepts that good. Rewards are still calculated exponentially based on distance but are not subject to the timed aspects of contracts.
A: We consider these deliveries, though the logic of Passenger and Postage 'deliveries' differ from that of Cargo. While Passengers and Postage have explicit destination desires and time requirements, like that of contracts, but because the player can freely set up their route, we find it more respectful to think of people and postage as 'deliveries' rather than 'contracts'.
A: All current keyboard shortcuts will be in the game's escape menu in the future.
A: Input remapping will be available in a future update!
A: This is something we would like to explore further in the future but have no plans for it now. Our core focus is to fix and finish the game, and we believe only then will we have customers who desire post-launch support and features.
A: Currently no, but it's something that we are looking towards.
A: The Employee will wait up to 5 real-time minutes to deliver as many wagons as possible, allowing other Employees or you, the player, to free up space in the station's storage without anything going to waste.
If enough space is made free, or at the end of the 5 minutes, all extra wagons on the Employee's train are removed and that part of the task is finished.
A: Due to licensing issues, the developers are only allowed to use them within Germany's borders.
The issue is that the program cannot load data to drives fast enough, if driving at a speed over a certain amount, and the world scale would make it very difficult to read the games signs/signaling system at those speeds.
Hints & Tips
1. Workers Perks And Skills 2. Simplified Goods Contracts Management TipAssign Perks for energy first, then distance, then intermediate stops and they will work longer, travel further and can call at more stops on the way. Of course you can also pile the perks on the amount of money cut, that you get from their takings, if you need to make a quick Euro or two, to purchase more trains.
To manage your goods traffic, this is the simple pathway to control it. Please note that at the moment, selection of manual and not automatic, will not update your city status, Known bug.
use your keyboard.
A (radio).
1-3 (your desired station).
3 Service.
3 Take...
2 Contracts.
2-3 (your desired contracts).
2 automatic. Now just drive into that station and park anywhere, literally anywhere, and then press U to hook up the wagons.
And then go to the destination and when getting close to your destination or stop at the entrance.
A (radio).
1-3 (destination station).
3 service.
3 delivery.
2 contract.
2 (your contract).
2 automatic. Then same, drive in, park anywhere, press U.
{Thanks to Boris for the tip]
Please note that if you take goods to an industry/warehouse in the same city area, you will not achieve upgrade points to that city.
