Introduction
Hello, guys.
Not long time ago I decided to watch "Narcos" series and after few episodes I was so excited about South American setting so I wanna play in something like this. Recently I remember that this game, Ghost Recon Wildlands, is perfect for my search.
So, I download it, launch it - and see the Russian. It's okay, I live in Russia my whole life but now I'm studying English at "hard-mode" and I wanna keep the games I play and the videos I watch only on English.
And it is real shame that Ubisoft decide to leave Steam RuCIS and China versions only with few number of localisations - Russian and Chinese languages of interface with full English voies (the voices selection are real mystery, cause this game also have Russian voice localisation).
Why? What is this? Some kind of segregation?
People around the world said Ubisoft made this to separate players from RuCIS and China from other players, who paid full price. Okay, there product - their rights. But the language story is real shame.
So, I decide to solve this mystery and END this inequity.
Problem Solving
So, how exactly I solved this problem?
1. Renaming
First of all, you need to go to your steam games folder, e.g. "C:\GAMES\Steam\steamapps\common" (you can have different path).
There is a "Wildlands" folder. You must rename it. Just right click on it, select Rename/Whatever and print this - "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands".
2. Add Trial Version
When you buy any Ubisoft game on steam, you also buy this game on Uplay. So Uplay trial version has no differences with Steam version you've already bought - except language selection. So, what you need to do. Try two options:
2.a Via Uplay
Some lucky persons can just add trial version in Uplay client and go to the third paragraph of this guide.
2.b. Via Ubisoft Store site
Other guys (not so lucky), like me, must go to this webpage
https://register.ubisoft.com/ghost-recon-wildlands-trial/en-US
And add pick PC version tab. You are breathtaking not yet. Then go to Uplay Client.
3. Game path checking
Now you need to go to the Games tab in Uplay client - and, you can see, you are now lucky owner of two different Ghost Recon Wildlands - not trial at all! Its's great, isn't it?
The next step is changing your steam files with you Uplay files.
Select "Download" in yout second GRW page and when it is time, check "Locate game files". Then you need to paste path to steam games folder e.g. "C:\GAMES\Steam\steamapps\common", not the path to game!
Wait 10-15 minutes, while Uplay add missing language files and now you're breathtaking! You can launch the game both via steam and via Uplay and play at language you want.
4. Shame on you, Ubisoft
