1- Types Of AI And Basics.
Welcome to this guide! All this information is from personal experience, and not from actual knowledge of the game's code.
Before we get to the important stuff, I need to make it known that there are currently two types of Enemy AI in the game,
Guarding AI
Aggressive AI
2- Guarding AI
Guarding AI are the first type of AI you will likely encounter in TAVR.
Guarding AI are usually:
Stationary. They often do not have any sort of patrol route.
Slow. It will take them a good second to aim and shoot you.
Able to hear. Some of the time, Guarding AI will hear your gunshots. This is inconsistent, however.Guarding AI also includes the special AI on Sever Snake and Trident Lightning.
Typically, these AI spawn as light enemies from my own experience, but will sometimes spawned Armoured. More info on armour in Section 5.
When these enemies detect you, they will raise their gun and fire whilst remaining stationary. If they cannot shoot you, they will either rush your cover or fall back, which can lead to them flanking you. These AI are different from Aggressive AI, however, as they do not have an innate knowledge of where you are.
On top of this, these enemies are the most likely to use cover out of the two types.
3- Aggressive AI
Aggressive AI are the second type of AI that spawn in TAVR.
Notably, these AI only spawn as part of certain objectives.
These are:
Triggering Extraction.
Completion of the main mission objective in certain missions.
Triggering the computer on Trident Lightning. Some notable traits of this AI type are:
Fast. They can quickly fire out of you and even break out of stun faster.
Omniscient. They know your rough location at all times, either that or they head towards the objective.
Wandering. If spawned in whilst there is no objective and no nearby players, they will wander around the map. This sub type of AI appear in Hidden Forest on the mountains. There isn't much to say about these AI, really. They are the second most basic AI type in the game, just above the Hostage AI.
Very important note: These enemies cannot hear at any point, but they will react to gunshots landing next to them. This trait is shared with Guarding AI, too.
Notably, these enemies hardly ever use cover, they will often stand still and shoot at you.
4- Bugs With AI
There are a few bugs with the AI, this list will be updated as and when they are fixed or if they are not a bug.
See-Through Debris - Enemies can see through door debris, not a bug, but really annoying.
Glass - Some glass will be treated like walls by enemies
John Wick Bug - Enemies having insane accuracy randomly. Likely isn't a bug, just bad RNG. Going to do more research on this. THIS APPEARS TO BE ADDED AS A FEATURE AS OF THE MOST RECENT FULL RELEASE BUILD!
Night Vision Bug - Enemies can sometimes see as if they had night vision, even if they don't. This is a limitation of the game's AI, not technically a bug.
5- Misc
This section will contain Miscellaneous notes on the AI, of all types.
Armour:Some enemies will spawn with armour. This can usually be told by them having a Helmet, or lack thereof.
Light AI: Armour on torso, blocks low calibre rounds for 2 shots. Reduces damage of Intermediate rounds allows them to survive 1 shot, and does not block anything higher.
Head shots always kill.
Heavy AI: Armour on Head. Helmet blocks 1 pistol round. ONLY BLOCKS WHERE THE HELMET IS, BALACLAVA IS STILL ONE-SHOT.
Armour on Torso. blocks low calibre rounds for 3 shots. Reduces damage of Intermediate rounds, stopping one shot, and does not block anything higher.
Guarding AI Wanderers:Sub-type Guarding AI which patrol around the outside of areas on seemingly set paths. Only on a few maps:
Singleplayer Sandbox
Hidden Forest. (Needs Checking, as AI move seemingly at random.)
More alert, will respond to gunshots and incoming fire more frequently.
Misc AI Features: Enemies can open and close doors without the lock being changed to off for players.
Enemies will melee at close ranges.
Enemies have a random chance to go prone in combat. If an enemy goes down, be sure to double tap them to prevent this.
