State Of Decay Story Mode & Breakdown ( Adding To The Guide As I Play )
It is in construction right now, any ideas added will be thrown in, or solved, as well as credit to those given aide in making this. I play a lot of games and working on my own game as we speak so give me time to always update this. I will update it as often as I can.
Introduction (main Missions)
In State of Decay, there are two types of missions:
main, story related
secondary, often repeating event to help other survivors
You will meet Lily in the church, she is your primary contact and will keep you up to date on new tasks.
State of Decay is not a perfectly linear game, instead of one main chain of quests you have few separate plots. Advances in each of these chains often depends on the progress of other tasks. Some of the mission may fail due to the death of some characters, some may be delayed by the appearance of other tasks, etc.
Find Help
As soon as you start playing, you'll be attacked by a small group of zombies, kill them and go (breaking through zombies or stealth) to the Ranger Station marked on the map with icon of green house. As soon as you get there you start a brief conversation with Thomas Ritter, who is asking for your help in searching nearby cabins and climbing the water tower, where you could look around the area.
Surveying, search the area from the higher ground
The Water Tower is located right next to the ranger station, at the top use the aim button to enter the observation mode. Check the question marks to discover new places. You have to fill the bar on the left side of the screen (Surveying) by checking the area.
Once you have completed survey start searching nearby tents and huts. Pay attention to the markings on the map:
This icon indicates that the place is fully searched.
Remember that white circle with a red stroke indicates that the area should be safe.
Distant gunshots
Head south following the sound of shots from a distance. You'll find Maya there, she needs help with fighting the zombies. Your task is to help a stranger defend against attackers, and then come back with her to the ranger station.
After getting back you will find that most of people there were killed or disappeared. When your friend starts to search the corpse of Thomas Ritter, he will wake up and bite Ed. In this situation, together with your companions, you'll decide to leave the location in search of help. Luckily, you have the keys to the car parked nearby and walkie-talkie, through which you talk with Lily Ritter, the daughter of a recently killed zombie.
Leave Mt. Tanner and get to the church
You have to go south along the road, problem is, there is broken bridge, you probably won't be able to cross. There is a small chance to jump the bridge with a car, but it is more likely that you'll end up in the river. If you won't make the jump, you have to find a rock staircase just west of the bridge, and climb up to continue the journey.
Rock stairs leading to the other side of the river
On the radio, Lily tells you about the church in Spencer's Mill, where there is a group of people who have managed to survive a zombie attack, to get there you must go to the eastern part of town.
Each base is marked with the icon of the green house with the flag
Along the way, avoid groups of zombies (Zombie Horde), the easiest solution is to drive the car. When you get to the church, Lily will show you around, and at the end of the tour you will get the task of finding a medical center to get medicine for your friend.
Look for a medical center
To find the location of the drugs you need to climb to the observation point (such as the tower, billboard) to look around the area, it is the task of a Survey.
Every time you see a tower or other object, on which you can climb, try to look around the area, marking the new map will make it easier to move around the world (this way you can see a horde of zombies and stronger opponents).
When you look around the area on the map there will probably be some new tasks (for example, save a group of survivors and bring them to the church). However, your main task is to help Ed, to do this go to the veterinary clinic, which will give you antibiotics.
Green cross in the western part of Spencer's Mill is veterinary clinic
Near the clinic Alan and Sam will be waiting for you. Help them find the drugs and return them to the church. Unfortunately, you can not go by car, Alan will be arguing that the noise of the engine will attract too many zombies. Going east, try to avoid the hordes (they are dangerous, even if you bring your companions).
After a while, Sam starts to complain that they are losing items out of the rucksack, so go get the car and drive Sam to the church (Alan will not go with you, but do not worry about it, he will reach the place).
Jacob Ritter
Shortly after finding the drugs you will get a mission to find Jacob, the brother of Lily. Jacob hides with Eli Wilkerson in an old barn. When you mark the mission icon on the map Jacob will contact you on the radio informing that he can not withstand long and needs help quickly.
Barn where Eli and Jacob are hiding
After reaching the place and watching the cutscene you will have to distract the zombies in order to escape with Jacob to the church. Prepare your car and choose from the quick use items firecrackers (Jacob will give it to you at the end of the previous conversation) or other object causing the noise, you can also just use a car horn.
When you stand in the right location you'll see progress bar "Distraction Progress" on the left side of the screen that fills up when your make noise (eg, repeatedly pressing the car horn).
Upon completion of this mission new quest chain will be available - Wilkersons.

Note you can also run and jump through a window if needed for a quick escape, this also works from the outside in and inside out... be carful too, this works from two/three story buildings so damage may be caused at the bottom! :P
Searching and Salvaging...
Reason most of us play this game for loot and treasure! Searchable items are always in a bright aura, glowing silver, this indicates the item can be searched. To search simply stand infront of the glowing item and hold the E key, once this is held down you will see the search begins.
You can speed up the search by holding down the E key, and pressing down left shift to begin searching faster, note this is nosier and may attract unwanted attention.
Once you have completed the search you will see your inventory on the left pop up infront of you and the contents on the item you have just searched are on the right... now from here you can use WSAD to move the item you want, then press space to take an item (note if you want to take 10 bullets, instead of pressing space 10 times you can press E to take a batch of 10).
Once you press space it should then move to your inventory on the left, if you want to put an item back, simply go to your inventory using W/A/S/D on the left side and press Space to click to put it back. (or press E to put 10 bullets back)
When salvaging you will also encounter materials, food, ammo e.t.c., this is always carried by your character in backpack form. This adds significant weight to you so your stamia WILL reduce quickly. So ensure you dont get eaten on the way home. You will also get situations where you need to carry two back packs, what you can do here is call for help, so a member of your team will run from home to your current location... To activate this, simply press the E key on the item and then use LEFT click to activate call for scavengers.
This can be dangerous if you leave your guy to do this alone, so it does give you the option to wait around and work together getting home.
You will also see this is a category view system and by default you are in ammo, simply press TAB inside here to take you to the next tab, weapons, first aid e.t.c....
Advanced Fighting Controls
Silent Kill = LEFT SHIFT & E or just Z = ((note for this to work you have to undetected by zombies and you also have to be crouching, quiet and behind them for this to work))
Dodge Attack = LEFT CTRL ((this has to be timed just as they attack you))
After a dodge you can counter in numerous ways, LEFT SHIFT & E will push a zombie away, or you can press space to jump and hit, LEFT SHIFT and Space will perform a jumping drop kick.
This combination LEFT SHIFT & E or just Z on its own can also finish off an enemy who is laying on the ground.
To perform a jump drop kick, press LEFT SHIFT + SPACE + E at the same time.
To add suppressor to the gun, make sure it's in your inventory and selected by using the mouse wheel, then simply press F to add it to your weapon. Note some guns need certain silencers / compatibility mode. (for those who do not know, silencers cut down the noise a gun makes)
Some rifles have a scope, this adds a zoom effect and can be activated by pressing the Q key.
When laying on the ground and being eaten to death by a zombie, it will say press A repeatable to get up.... "calmly" click LEFT MOUSE BUTTON AND HOLD IT DOWN (as if you are going to do an EMOTE) and repeatable press SPACE for your life! (press it very quickly like you're playing an old 80's game)
When getting your neck eaten from behind keep pressing LEFT CTRL or C as fast as you can to elbow/kick off the zombie.
XBOX Controls - Translated
Depending on your circumstances whether you are driving or on foot or inside a menu system these controls do swap and change, but this is the general emulation of the joy pad.
LB = SHIFT
RB = F
(A) = Space
(B) = CTRL
(X) = Q
(Y) = E
LT = Right Mouse Click
RT= Left Mouse Click
Character Development
Each person in your community has a basic set of skills:
Cardio - determines the stamina
Wits - allows you to search faster, quieter, and speeds up the process of surveying
Fighting - determines the amount of life and unlock special attacks
Shooting - makes it easier to shoot, each star reduces recoil by 10%, increases the accuracy
Each character also has additional skills specific to him or her. All the skills you develop by actions associated to them (running increases Cardio, fighting increases Fighting). Each skill has 7 levels (stars), when you reach a certain level you can choose the specializations associated with it, for example the ability to Double Kill allow the killing of two zombies at the same time (required to achievement).
There are many ways to develop your character: you can create hero for melee fighting and running, the other to fight at a distance, you can also balance each character in order to cope with different situations. But the truth is that ordinary hand combat and survival skills is paramount, so any development path that allows the survival will be good.

Leader/Front lines Warrior (Rick and Walter)Gun: Assault Rifle
Melee: Axe (splitting maul or brush axe, with a backup Hockey Stick in case the main weapon gets damaged)
Specialization: Heavy weapon (with low sweep)+ Assault Weapons.
Strategy: First into major combat. The ones who set up the base, deal with large amounts of attacking zeds, clear infestations, or generally go where there's likely to be a ton of zombies. Their heavy weapon low sweep makes them fearless in any situation. 30 attacking zombies? No problem. Found an area with 6 infestations? Sounds like fun!
(If I were on xbox with no mods it'd be the same idea/weapons, but just heavy weapon specialization with low sweep+ combat endurance)
Ninja/Scavengers (Leon, Diane, Hopkins)Gun: Assault Rifle
Melee: Wakizashi, Kama, or Machine Blade (depending on the survivor--each have their own preference)
Specializations: Edged weapon (with low sweep) + Assault Weapons.
Strategy: Once the base is set up and the outposts are set, these are the general warriors running the show. They prefer more one-on-one fighting with zeds, but are still deadly. With their edged weapons, they are great at slicing through any zeds they encounter and are great at handling a constant stream of zeds. They do the scavenging and general missions around the base or with others. They love being a ninja and enjoy the thrill in killing zeds, so sometimes they sneak around getting stealth kills for fun, kicking ferals in the face, or looking for juggernauts to taunt.
(If I were on xbox with no mods it'd be the same idea/weapons, but just edged weapons with low sweep + ninja.)
Badass/floater (Dan)Gun: Shotgun
Melee: Kukri
Specialization: Shotgun & edged weapons
Strategy: Dan can do either position above. With his shotgun specialization he can kill a ton of zombies in one shot, and with his edged specialization he's great at chopping through zeds too. In general though, he likes to go looking for trouble. He likes to find large amounts of zeds and lay waste to them with his shotgun, even if there's no benefit outside of his personal amusement.
(If I were on xbox with no mods it'd be the same idea/weapons, but just shotgun specialization + marathon)
Using Cars,Trucks, Etc
Spread the damage. Do not use just the front to run over zombies. Instead, use the back, the side doors when sliding, and the front ( in emergencys ). This way you can always have a ride for a long time. Rather then a couple front hits and it totals.
I want to thank for helping with this information. Napalminus
Community And Control Of Different Characters
State of Decay is a game where you have one important task - to survive . Your first character went along with a friend for an innocent fishing trip to Mt. Tanner, where he is attacked by zombies. From this moment the main objective is to escape from this terrible place, away from the living dead. To do this, roam the open world to find as many living and doing everything you can to keep them in this state by providing them with places to sleep, food, materials, etc. The purpose of your character is to search of abandoned buildings (houses, shops, clinics, etc.) and providing the base necessities of survival: drugs, ammunition and food.
Remember that State of Decay is not a linear game, at various stages you might come across other versions of events. A lot depends on whether all of the main characters survived or not. If you wait too long for the execution of a task the some missions may completely disappear or other quests will replace them. When one of the characters dies, you may not be able to complete quest. Although the goal never changes - you have to survive and escape from this cursed place!
You can choose from many different characters to play, this creates possibilities to choose hero for different game styles. During your adventure you'll find a single person or even a group of people who managed to survive, if you'll help them, you will be able to control them. Some of those will become your friends right away, others will require assistance in carrying out their tasks or personal wishes. When you're friends with someone you can talk to that person to change your main hero. Choose carefully, because if a character dies, it dies forever. Therefore, do not risk excellent sniper going on a mission that requires more melee combat or more risky exploration, for such a task better choose someone with a lot of life, stamina and advanced fighting skills. When you find yourself in a situation with no way out, without being able to heal, with small amount of health and a horde of zombies on your back, quickly pause the game and just leave the game. After re-logging you'll up in your base, safe and sound, although you will loose rucksack with resources if you had one, and progress in the mission may change (sometimes resetting it), but if you really want to rescue the active character - this is the only way.
Home Base And Outposts
In each new area you will find the base (or will be able to move it to given location), this is the place where it's relatively calm, where you have command center. In base you can store found resources such as ammunition, food, medicine, gasoline, or materials necessary for the survival, protection and development.
Information about the amount of resources, morale of the community, and the number of people who live in your base is in the upper left corner of the screen while on the premises - Home base and outposts - Tips - State of Decay - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Information about the amount of resources, morale of the community, and the number of people who live in your base is in the upper left corner of the screen while on the premises. In addition, you can access base information in your journal for details and more base options.
Points of influence (Influence) are another important resource, you earn them by completing tasks or putting items into Supply Locker - Home base and outposts - Tips - State of Decay - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Points of influence (Influence) are another important "resource", you earn them by completing tasks or putting items into Supply Locker. Influence is used when you send someone for resources, while moving the base to another location, building institutions or preparing meals for the group.
You can move the command center to another place in the later stages of the game. At the beginning, Ranger Station will be your base, after that - church, and later you will be able to move your base wherever you want to. Moving the base costs 100 Influence and the right amount of materials and the residents of the current database.
In your command center you can build different types of facilities, each of them has a purpose: to provide a place to sleep, storage space, place to train, to provide better quality food or faster treatment.
Outposts
You can build different types of facilities, each of them has a purpose: to provide a place to sleep, storage space, helping to train, to provide better quality food or faster treatment.
Cooking Area - Having a clean place for cooking preserves the health of residents.
Dining Area - A place where people can eat together, reduce the amount of conflict and tension in the group.
Garden Area - Here you grow plants that then go to the food resources.
Library - You can research new possibilities of production in library.
Medical Area - Accelerates regeneration of life and increases the chance of curing serious wounds.
Radio - Allows you to ask for help in the search for resources and survivals.
Sleeping Area - This creates the place to rest, reducing stress and tension in your community.
Storage Area - Increase the storage capacity of the base.
Training Area - Here you can train inactive characters and other enclaves, you can also activate bonus for melee combat experience.
Watch Tower - Allows for greater protection against zombies.
Work Area - Speeds up construction and allows you to create items, especially useful when you just start to build a new base.
Getting Resources And Construction
There are two types of items in State of Decay:
Items such as weapons, drinks, ammunition you can store in (Supply Locker), you'll get Influence points for that From the bank, you can always select items to take on a mission.
Resources required for the survival of your community at the base. They allow for the expansion of buildings, temporary strengthening your community etc.
Resources can be found in closed containers when searching different sites. When you find the package you can:
Open the container in place (holding down the attack button: Break Open) - typical items will then fall out of the container, such as those you find at every step.
Remove the container (holding the jump button:
Load Rucksack) and deliver it to the base. This will give you a resource for the community, but to have such a burden on your back quickly consumes stamina when running and fighting.
Call the radio "runners" who will take charge of the base (Radio Home).
Keep in mind that resources are important and crucial for survival. In the early stages you will need materials for buildings, then food and medicine, and in the end game you will start running out of fuel and ammo. So try every time you leave the base to go back with rucksack, and if you can - call runners.
In search of resources and survivors Lily, the radio operator will be very helpful - Getting resources and construction
In search of resources and survivors Lily, the radio operator will be very helpful. Just select last tab (Home ) in your journal, mark a Radio Room and ask for help in locating any type of resource. After some time on the map magnifying glass icon appears, it marks where to find the resources needed.
Constructing additional buildings apart of normal building materials, you will often require specific items. If materials resource will exhaust while building is in process Lily will tell you that they you need to find, for example, copper pipes, pans, bolts, or punching bags to finish your construction. This kind of items won't take place in a backpack nor you have to wear them as a resource.
Instead of looking for such items, you can use the "Construction Advice" on the radio, it'll complete the construction immediately, without the need to provide additional materials.
Every day your community consumes a certain amount of resources. You can create outpost in place, where there are some resources instead of running every time with loaded rucksack
To organize such a place you must clean out the zombies and complete search, do not take resources, do not call runners
To organize such a place you must clean out the zombies and complete search, do not take resources, do not call runners. For example, if the restaurant you can find 3-4 packages of food, select the radio option "Establish Outpost", so that resources left will be added to your base until exhaustion.
Outposts are marked on the map with green icons with a progress bar, list of all outposts is also available in journal - Getting resources and construction
Outposts are marked on the map with green icons with a progress bar, list of all outposts is also available in journal.
The journal icon for each of the outpost shows what kind of resource it provides. When the outpost runs out of resources the icon changes to watchtower, you should destroy it and search for new outpost (with resources).
Getting resources in this way is easier and safer than continuous running. If, for example, you will find six centers with materials and 2 of ammunition, you should not have any problems with the protection and expansion of the base.
What And How To Build?
The first thing about the expansion of this game, will hint you will be need for an additional place to sleep in the church. Apart beds, you should also think about upgrading the kitchen.
In the church you can, build the gym allowing you to improve your inactive character's skills. In this way, when your current character dies the rest of the characters will be a little trained and you will have better choice.
Selection of buildings is up to you and from you tactics of development. In the later stages of the game think about building the library and perform and do some research. This allows you to, for example, the production of advanced medicine, a collection of vegetables from the garden, etc.
No matter how many Influence points you have, how you organized your home and trained your hero, your character is always the exposed to death. Therefore, you must always carry some medicine, a cup of coffee (or something else to renew stamina), melee weapon (and one backup) and some optional extras in the form of firearms and ammo, bombs, or even firecrackers to distract the zombies.
Sounds
Zombies are not very smart, but in this game they are fast, and extremely sensitive to sound. Regular running or even searching some shelves can alert nearby horde. All the time you have to be alerted, even the smallest sound can lure a zombie, and the sounds of fighting will lure next ones.
Sounds can, however, be used to fool the "zombies", drop them firecrackers or set the alarm clock to concentrate them in one place. So a group gathered can easily be eliminated with a grenade.
Cars play an important role in surviving, if you're in the car, you are much safer and more dangerous. When you fight with a horde of zombies while on foot, you have a rather small chance of survival, in the car, however, you are deadly. Therefore, when you are dealing with a infestation or horde, use your car horn several times so zombies hiding in a building will come out straight under the car.
Remember that cars are not indestructible, fast Dodge is easily damaged after a driving through several hordes ... or a tree, slow pickups are more resistant, but harder to control. The best car in the game, forming a combination of strength and speed is police car.
Zombie Types
In addition to regular zombies you will have to deal also with more serious enemies, marked on the map with larger red dots:
Feral Zombie
yellow, strong and very agile opponent can knock you in the blink of an eye and hold on the ground. Such an attack can be fatal, especially when lying on the ground while other zombies can attack you.
Screamer
is not dangerous zombie, it have no arms, it won't attack you. His weapon is a cry that stuns form for a short distance, and most importantly alarms nearby zombies. Try to eliminate screamers in the first place, preferably from a safe distance with a headshot.
Bloater
Have a very unusual appearance, thin limbs and gat belly, it's not too dangerous opponent, but if you kill it, it'll generate "smoke" that hurts you and consumes stamina. This type of enemy is especially dangerous if you are in a car, because the stench of the Bloater stays is in the vehicle. Bloaters can also make your character sick and left unattended they can die/become a zombie themselves. That is actually the biggest risk of these bloaters.
-Zuul-
SWAT Zombie
the armed zombies are pretty strong opponents, especially difficult to kill because of the armor they wear.
Big Bastard (Big Un)
Dangerous of enemies in the game.
It will charge you, can tear you apart, it is very difficult to kill, car does a little damage to him and even shots in the head won't kill it quickly.
Big Un can be taken down with some Petrol bombs(2-3) and a Flame Fougasse(Pressure sensitive Fire Mine) The Big Un has to be lead in to the Flame Fougasse. This should be enough to kill him without shooting him or getting in a melee fight with him.
Thanks to (HummingWarrior)->> Try to avoid Big Bastards at all costs, and if you need to kill one, try to arrange it so that you will be on a mission with the other survivors to use them as a meat shield.. <---
*If you can shoot at Big Bastard's head few times, and when it'll get close hide in a house where he won't be able to enter, and continue shooting.*
Power Housing Character Traits
Reflex + Spin Kick = Anything that within arc of your character foot will fly 3 meters away, included Feral. Useful in crowd control since it use very little stamina to perform.
Reflex + Sweep Kick = Same as Spin Kick but shorter range of attack and almost 360 degree attack but unable to knockdown Feral, if you don't like zeds to fly around all over the place then pick this one.
Reflex + Edge = Look like Asian martial art ninja but you need to level up Edge weapon quickly because it deal so little damage and no knock back, bad at crowd control, i really don't like Edge weapon because of this and Edge unique skill suck.
Reflex + Blunt = Best combo if you ask me, both of blunt unique skill are useful.
Reflex + Heavy = Never try, i made Heavy weapon exclusive for Powerhouse character.
Powerhouse you get:
increased carry capacity
increased instant kill chance (significantly)
increased stackable count
one on one instant kill move that doesnt use weapons
makes your kicks stagger zombies
keep in mind:
guns for thinning the ranks, throwables for clearing hordes, and melee for everything else.
State Of Decay Lifeline Part 1 ( Detailed Focus )
First, most obvious, the map has changed.
The map is that of the city of Danforth. But the map is for a large part inaccessible. In fact the map consists basically of the road around the city and a about seven areas branching of the central road. There are therefore far less buildings to explore unlike the basic game, that had a lot of places to explore and to scavenge.
Second, the addon has only one base and thus there is no reason to try and look for another one. This base has only a few option to builds. Basically you have only four slots to build something.
Third, the addon story is interspersed with attacks on your base at set intervals. The attacks by zombies increase in ferocity. The first attacks will see normal zombies, more zombies and more special zombies will join in the attack as the game proceeds. To deal with attacks you will recruit soldiers, artillery support, mortar support , air strikes and static defense around the base. I never use them since I found another way to deal with the attacks.
Fourth, and very handy, change is that vehicles now can carry equipment and especially resources. This mean that you can now drive to a shack and transport the resources in that shack in your car instead of having you to drive back and forth between your base and the shack for each resource. This change also works in the basic game and in the other addon Breakdown.
Fifth, the cap for influence is 10.000. Which is different from the basic game and addon Breakdown, as there the cap very low and slowly rose throughout the game based on your performance.
Six, the price for hiring a soldier to come with you is twenty influence, which is very cheap as compared to the 100 you need in the basic game.
Seventh, you can summon supplies from your base.
Eight, munitions shop now make munitions.
Nine, you will be pressed for time as you have to do quests within a short time and there is little time left to do other things until the story lines have finished.
And lastly: this game revolves mostly around doing missions to either save people or to gather supplies.
Now we come to the tips.
Tip one: disobey the first order you get.
The first order you get is to head over to the base at one as it is under attack. Instead of going directly to the base you are better of to use the moment to establish some out posts and gather resources. The reason to do this is because at this moment in the game the zombie threat is the lowest and you have two companions with you. Also, unlike in the basic game, you can already establish outposts and you need to establish outposts to drop off the weapons that you find. Also you have ample time to scavenge as there is no deadline on the first quest.
Tip two: Build outposts, but build them to destroy hordes and make areas safe.
Hordes get to be a serious menace in the game as they are the cause of infestations and infestations will make quests harder to do as. The only way to effectively deal with them is having outposts destroy as many as you can get. To do that you need to place outposts at place where hordes pass and this is in contradiction with placing outposts at satellite uplinks, artillery and drone sites because these are almost all on the edges.
Tip three: forget about the latrine.
There is a latrine in the game and it is suggested that not having it will make your soldiers sick. Well, I have had times where half my soldiers were sick, but that is a rare occurrence. The soldiers will still help defend your base. The disadvantage of having a latrine is that it uses up a slot that can be put to better use.
Tip four: take a soldier with you.
Asking a solder to come with you cost twenty influence, which is cheap as compared to the hundred influence in the basic game. So take a soldier with you. In addition this is an important way to make them playable characters and you want to make them playable to equip them.
Tip five: don’t hesitate to use your car and Molotov to save people by driving into a group of zombies.
In the basic came driving a car into a horde of zombies attacking a refugee or survivor would cause you to loose influence. In this game you can do that unpunished and you need to as the zombies get tougher and can easily kill a refugee and survivor later in the game. So throw that Molotov cocktail and drive a car into them.
Tip six: don’t worry about supplies.
With the exception of materials you do not need to worry about supplies because you will get resource when you keep the gather supplies function on all the time. Materials you need at the start of the game to build your facilities. Once they are build they aren’t so important. You can break down all other resources.
Now follows four more tips that can be seen as game spoilers.
Tip seven: gather rocket launchers.
In almost all the games there are around five rocket launchers These are your key weapons to use in your defense as outlined below.
Tip eight: build a munitions shop.
You need to build a munitions shop to make 40 mm grenades. It might even be advisable to use a second slot for making another munitions shop so you can spent building your ammo on making more 40 mm grenades.
Tip nine: Make as many 40 mm grenades as you can.
Make as many 40 mm grenades as you can. If you don’t have ammo for 40 mm grenades make either silencers or flame fougasse.
Tip ten: don’t recruit soldiers.
You have only about 5 rocket launchers. So you need to keep the amount of soldiers low. Preferably not more than you have rocket launchers, but this is hard as the game will give you just a bit more solders then you want. Around two more on average.
The tactics that you now can use is equipping your small crew of soldiers(best is around six or seven) with grenade launchers. Because your npc never use and run out of ammo you have made yourself free artillery. The 40 mm grenades you make are for your own use as during most of the addon Sasquatch will be at the north gate and you can’t equip him and you will need to use the grenade launcher. In addition your npc grenades do little damage to Big Ones so you need to take them out yourself. In addition you have no control over how the soldiers will be positioned and this it might be you need to fill in the gaps.
Now go out and play.
State Of Decay Lifeline Pt 2 ( Main Focus Short )
So I've seen a couple posts where people are having a hard time in Lifeline so I thought I would share a couple things I do (and hopefully others will add theirs as well) to make life easier.
1. Call in supplies consistently. I call in building supplies every 6 minutes(or 12 I can't remember) on the dot in the beginning to get everything I need built quickly. Once everything is built and later in the game I call the jumbo drop. Maximize your efficiency!!! It really makes things a lot easier to you don't have to waste time scouting.
2. Set your people the "Thin the ranks" as soon as Ops is rebuilt. It gives you more time between sieges and doesnt send your soldiers out on time wasting missions. Any of the other modes gets your people out on scavenging missions and you have to go save them. Airdrops are quicker and more efficient then AI resource runs and the AI has never found anyone searching for people (atleast for me)
3.There are military assets you can commandeer as outposts at every off ramp on the highway (one per off ramp) Get these early! Like first 2 sieges early. You have time if you "Thin the Ranks" and they're very helpful during sieges and later on in-game.
4. Bring a gun with you when you go to save soldiers/civvies. I prefer melee builds but I've found most of the time I get there to save people and they're already taken down by the group of zombies and they'll be torn apart. Bring a gun and shoot the zombies so the person you're rescuing has a chance to get up. Zombies swarm more in this dlc than last.
5. In my opinion the new military truck is the best combination of speed and toughness of all the cars in the game. You can find 2 at your main base at a couple out in the field by some of the military outposts. Be good about preserving these! There are enough trucks around to drive if you're careful and moderate your use of them. I generally save them for the missions requiring me to travel long distances.
6. Be home for the sieges!!! I made that mistake early. Once the clock hits warning level 3 I head home. Equip the soldiers you don't use with some good weapons. I try to stick a couple guys with LMG's and a couple with shotguns and one with a sniper. Sieges seem to only come from two directions so it's a good combination for defense. Get on top of the store with a grenade launcher and bring the rain. The store has a supply chest up there for easy resupply.
That's it for now. Message me if I should add more detail.
A Quick Tip On Breakdown For Newcomers
On breakdown : a pro tip : First, always take the small base in the middle of nowhere, it has the most available space to find. Secondly, have an outpost in each town and leave your car at the outpost, never go alone. Thirdly, you want to raid the military stashes and cleo drops as soon as possible for the best weapons. Fourthly, get all the military trucks you can, then get police cars. When you get the large bases after that, you should be good for a while and only need to go out once in a while
Note:
Bring an expert for each room you build so that you get the most use from each room when you move up a breakdown level, but it depends on how you play, some people might just focus on the community whereas others focus on every community they meet, and the 2 large bases offer perks for each type of player so that needs to be thought about..
if you look at your map as well, you could potentially stop nearly every horde before it reaches your base with well placed defensive outpost.
In the end, tips are good for basic info but to truly get it right it would need to be looked at from each playstyle
Make sure you keep making big meals to keep vitality up and build a training area to keep stamina up. Don't forget you can keep the stamina and vitality up using this method.
