Jurassic Park - Multiplayer Mod

Jurassic Park - Multiplayer Mod

Basics

Jurassic Park is played with double city elimination, and is 75 turns long. All players are religious and expansionist, and start with an explorer. The tech slider should be set to 0% at game start.

There are two different factions in Jurassic Park: The Humans, and The Dinosaurs.

The Human players play the game very similarly to Future. They start with all techs unlocked, and only require resources to build more advanced units. They can draft, go into wartime, etc. Human players will also want to change governments on turn 0, and switch to either Republic or Fascism.

The Dinosaur players play differently. They unlock new dinosaur units every 15 turns, up until turn 45, and they require NO resources to build their units. To help with clarity and understanding of the new TWELVE units that are available, the comparable ancient version of the unit is in parentheses. e.g. "Parasaurolophus (Warrior)". Don't worry, it's much stronger than a Warrior :) Dinosaurs don't know any other government than Despotism, which has the slowest workers, but Despotism has no tile penalty!

The unhappiness penalty for drafting is only 15 turns, and all bombard units CANNOT crater tiles (they only destroy tile improvements). All units have +1HP (e.g. Drafted units have 3HP instead of 2HP).

For all players, the Palace in your capital city acts as an aqueduct, a granary, and a barracks.

Download Link, Hosting, And Basic Scoring

Current version is 0.1, as of 4/12/2023:

Only the host requires the .biq file to get the game going. Vitally, NONE of the other players need to download ANYTHING to get the full experience :)

Map settings should be the same as MPT, as all naval combat has been disabled. 60% water Pangaea, etc. Spawning on an island should necessitate a restart.

Map sizes are the following:

Tiny - 2 player

Small - 4 player

Normal - 6 player

Large - 8 player

Huge - 8 player

The game is played with double elimination. Lose two cities, and you're done! If you die, your decayed score is halved in both CTON and team games.

In CTON, taking a city that you did NOT plant is worth +50 points. If you take at least one city, but you die later, your points from city takes are not halved, only your endgame screen score is halved.

Players can be all random Civs, if they wish, then teams will be comprised of part human, part dinosaur allies. Optionally, a single team can be comprised of all humans or dinosaurs.

Humans

The buildable units for Human players look like the following:

Additionally, Humans can build temples, marketplaces, factories, all that good stuff. Humans also get the fastest workers with their government choices. The following worker moves are on flatland:

Republic:

Road - 1 Turn

Irrigate - 1 Turn

Mine - 2 Turns

Chop Forest - 2 Turns

Plant Forest - 2 Turns

Railroad - 2 Turns

Clear Pollution - 4 Turns

Fascism:

Road - 1 Turn

Irrigate - 1 Turn

Mine - 1 Turn

Chop Forest - 1 Turn

Plant Forest - 1 Turn

Railroad - 1 Turn

Clear Pollution - 2 Turns

Note that The Manhattan Project and Nukes have been removed from this scenario.

Dinosaurs

Dinosaur units follow this progression:

Techs are locked at 15 turns each, even at 0% science, so each tier of units becomes available once 15 turns pass after planting your first city. Dinosaur units require no resources to build.

Dinosaurs don't have any formal government structure, and are stuck in despotism for the game. However, there is no tile penalty, so you never have to worry about shields/food being lost that way when deciding on your worker moves.

Dinosaur worker moves are slower compared to Human players:

Road - 1 Turn

Irrigate - 2 Turn

Mine - 3 Turns

Chop Forest - 2 Turns

Plant Forest - 3 Turns

Railroad - Not Available

Clear Pollution - 6 Turns

Additionally, Dinosaur players get a couple of special buildings:

Nesting Grounds

Acts as a granary, barracks, and temple. 25 shields.

A superpowered, insanely stacked improvement, designed to be easily slaved in all cities. Since humans have an upper hand with mechanics such as wartime, bombers, and reconnaissance, dinosaurs get their power from raw growth. Note that this does NOT need to be built in your capital, as the palace serves as all these functions as well.

Watering Hole

Cheap aqueduct, 5 shields.

Genetic Enhancement

Small Wonder that makes citizen growth +2 instead of +1 in all cities (Longevity Wonder effect), and gives 2 happiness in all cities. 50 shields. Available after discovering "Jurassic Era".

Updates

4/13/2023:

Dinosaur stats and costs nerfed across the board. It took me 48 turns as a human player to kill ONE Dino civ on Regent AI difficulty, LOL.
