What Is The Legend Of The Veil Voyage?
The Legend of the Veil Voyage is a unique multi-chapter quest exclusive to Pirate Legends.
The voyage combines the unlimited replayability of Trading Company voyages with the storytelling elements of Tall Tales, offering an enjoyable and replayable experience without monotony.
Where To Obtain The Legend Of The Veil Voyage?
If you are a Pirate Legend, you can obtain the voyage from the Pirate Lord in the Athena’s Fortune Hideout. Players can also participate in the voyage and benefit from the rewards.
With the new Captaincy Update, you can also obtain the voyage from the Shipwright.
How To Complete The Legend Of The Veil Voyage?
How to Complete the Legend of the Veil Voyage?
To complete the Legend of the Veil Voyage, you must collect three magical Veil Stones belonging to the Veil of the Ancients. You will need to complete three different modules in one session.
Each module contains a challenging task with a unique gameplay experience. The four modules are:
Sudds Module: You will need to solve a puzzle-focused task.
Belle Module: You will need to overcome a land combat-focused task.
Shipwreck Graveyard Module: You will need to complete an exploration-focused task.
Haunted Fortress Module: You will need to defeat a sea combat-focused task.
Completing the task in each module rewards you with one of the Veil Stones.
Thanks to this modular design, each voyage offers a different gameplay experience. The modules may change, and each quest includes different variations. This means that the order in which you complete the quests, their locations, and the puzzles you need to solve will vary every time.
Although this may seem like a daunting task, you will receive help from the Pirate Lord, Sudds, and Belle throughout your journey.
How Much Gold Can You Earn From The Legend Of The Veil Voyage?
As you progress through the Legend of the Veil Voyage, you will have the opportunity to collect valuable Athena's Fortune treasures, including the coveted Athena’s Chest, which awaits you at the end.
At the beginning of the voyage, crews that raise an Athena's Fortune flag and collect all treasures along the way will have their Flag Value reach level 5 by the end of the journey. With a Flag Value of 5, the combination of high-value Athena's Fortune treasures you gather makes it the most valuable Pirate Legend voyage!
If you collect all possible treasures throughout the voyage and sell them, you can earn approximately 100k to 150k gold.
How Long Does The Legend Of The Veil Voyage Take?
Although the voyage feels like a Tall Tale, it can be completed faster than a Tall Tale. The duration of the voyage depends on how quickly you can complete the tasks given to you, with the journey typically taking between 30 minutes to an hour.
Step By Step Legend Of The Veil Voyage
Step 1: Start The Voyage
To begin the voyage, you will need to purchase it from the Pirate Lord[/b] ]at the Pirate Legend Hideout for 250 gold.
Once you vote to start the voyage, the Pirate Lord will appear on your ship and remind you of what’s at stake. The Veil of the Ancients Mask will also appear on your ship during his speech. You can find it next to the helm. This mask is where you will place each Veil Stone you collect.
The Veil of the Ancients Mask is permanently attached to your ship, so there’s no need to worry about losing it if your ship sinks or failing the voyage. However, you can lose the Veil Stones before placing them in the mask, so you may want to place them there as soon as you collect them.
After finishes his speech, new pages will be added to your Quest Book. Read these new pages carefully, as they will guide you to your next destination!
Step 2: Obtain The First Veil Stone
To find your first Veil Stone, you should follow the instructions from the Pirate Lord in your Quest Book. He will assign you to complete one of three modules:
Sudds module, Belle module, or Shipwreck Graveyard module.
If you are decrypting Sudds' instructions, you’ve received the Sudds module and will solve a puzzle to obtain a Veil Stone.
If you are searching for Belle, you’ve received the Belle module and will clear the Haunted Island to obtain a Veil Stone.
And if you are taking a stone from a Shipwreck Graveyard, you’ve received the Shipwreck Graveyard module and will explore wrecks for a hidden Veil Stone.
The module you receive is random, but you will not receive the same module twice during the same voyage. For example, in your first voyage, you may receive the Sudds and Belle modules. In your next voyage, you may receive the Belle and Shipwreck Graveyard modules.
Starting with the Sudds module, we will go over what to expect and how to complete each of the following modules.
Sudds Module
If the Pirate Lord has asked you to decipher Sudds' instructions, you’ve received the Sudds module, and you will need to find Sudds first. So, open your Quest Book, check the last page, and it will show you the island where Sudds is located. Set sail for that island.
Once you land on the island, you will need to locate Sudds' exact position. Again, your Quest Book will provide a clue on the last page about where Sudds can be found on the island.
After speaking with Sudds, he will give you his instructions. The instructions will be one of three tasks:
Zoomed-In Map Task
Pictorial Map Task
Deceptive Map Task
Each of these task types will test your knowledge of Sea of Thieves! If you need help completing any of the tasks, we’ll explain how to complete each type below!
Zoomed-In Map Task
The Zoomed-In Map Task is a more focused version of the X Marks the Spot quest. Instead of a task parchment showing the entire island, it will display only a small section of the island where the X is located.
To solve the Zoomed-In Map Task, you’ll need to use your knowledge of the Sea of Thieves islands to determine the location of the X from the limited clues provided. These tasks are randomly generated, meaning there’s an infinite number of maps you might receive.
Examine the image closely for hints like coastlines, types of fauna, and rock colors. For example, if the zoomed-in section shows red lava fragments, you’ll know the island is somewhere in The Devil’s Roar. Use the Map Table on your ship to match your Zoomed-In Map Task to the corresponding island.
Once you identify the island, sail there and dig where the X is marked. You’ll uncover an Ancient Chest containing a Veil Stone and complete the task.
Place the Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients on your ship to continue your journey!
Pictorial Map Task
The Pictorial Map Task is a two-page quest that requires solving visual clues to locate the digging spot.
The left page of the task contains drawings of key landmarks on an island in the Sea of Thieves. The landmarks should be distinctive enough to help you identify which island they belong to.
On the right page of the quest, there is a sketch of a less recognizable, specific location on the same island. The drawing also includes a symbol marking the exact spot on the island where you need to dig.
To solve the Pictorial Map Task, you must first determine which island the left page is referencing. Once you identify the island, set sail and search it for the specific location depicted on the right page.
When you find the spot, match the drawn symbol to the location on the island, and dig to uncover an Ancient Chest, completing the task. Inside the Ancient Chest, you’ll find a Veil Stone!
Place the Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients on your ship, and your journey will continue!

Deceptive Map Task
The Deceptive Map Task is a two-page quest showing a top-down view of an island with Ancient symbols drawn on it. The positions of these symbols correspond to real landmarks on the island. However, one of the symbols doesn’t actually exist on the island!
To complete the Deceptive Map Task, you’ll need to search the island for the symbols marked on your map. During your exploration, you’ll find a rock painting that doesn’t match the symbol depicted on the map.
When you discover a rock painting that differs from its map symbol, you’ve uncovered the deception. Start digging in front of that rock painting. If you’ve found the correct location, you’ll dig up an Ancient Chest containing a Veil Stone, completing the task.

Place the Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients on your ship to continue your journey!
Belle Module
If the Pirate Lord has asked you to find Belle, you’ve received the Belle module, and you must sail to the island mentioned in your Quest Book, where it says Belle is located.
Once you land on the island, you’ll need to find Belle. The Quest Book will provide a clue about Belle's location on the island.
When you find her, speak with her, and you will begin the Haunted Island Quest.
Haunted Island Quest
After speaking with Belle, she will give you the Magical Lantern. To complete the Haunted Island Quest, you must first light the braziers on six different Ancient Statues around the island.
Light the Six Ancient Statue Braziers
To start, first light the brazier on the Ancient Statue behind Belle. To light the brazier on an Ancient Statue, make sure you’re equipped with the Magical Lantern from the Quest Radial Menu. Then, walk towards the Ancient Statue, raise your Magical Lantern, and light the brazier.
Once you’ve lit the brazier, look at the sky for the swirling white beams of light. The remaining Ancient Statues around the island that still need to be lit will be beneath those white beams of light. Each time you light a brazier on an Ancient Statue, white beams of light will reappear to guide you.
The beams will only be visible for a short time, so be quick and scan the horizon!
Choose a light beam to follow and hold your Magical Lantern in front of you as you move in that direction. Don’t worry if you miss the light beams! The Ancient Statues will always emit a wave that you can see with your Magical Lantern.
It’s important to remember that you can only see the Ancient Statues when the Magical Lantern is equipped and visible. So, if you’re running around the island, your lantern will be invisible, and you might run past an Ancient Statue.
After lighting the sixth brazier, a massive swirling white light column will appear near the center of the island. That’s where the last Ancient Statue is, so head there and light its brazier. You will notice the Ancient Statue surrounded by Ancients. They will assist you in the upcoming battle.
Ancient Ritual Defense
As soon as you light the last Ancient Statue’s brazier, a Phantom assault will ambush you. Continue defeating the attacking Phantoms, and eventually, a Soulflame Captain will appear. Defeat the Soulflame Captain to end the battle and claim the Veil Stone.
Pay close attention to where the Soulflame Captain is killed. It will drop several Athena's Fortune treasures at the location!
Once the battle is over, an Ancient Priest will appear and give you a Veil Stone.
Place the Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients on your ship to continue your journey!
Shipwreck Graveyard Module
If the Pirate Lord asks you to retrieve a stone from a Shipwreck Graveyard, the Shipwreck Graveyard module is yours. If so, you must first sail to the area mentioned in your Quest Book as the Sunken Graveyard.
As you approach, look for a large flock of seagulls circling in the air. They will be above the Shipwreck Graveyard, much like seagulls circling over a single shipwreck.
Sail your ship close to the seagulls, jump into the water, and head towards the nearest Shipwreck.
To complete the Shipwreck Graveyard quest, you must find the Captain’s Cabin Key. The Veil Stone you’re looking for is inside the locked Captain's Cabin.
Find the Ship’s Log
First, you’ll want to search inside the Grim Fortune Shipwreck. It’s usually the most visible wreck and is always the white ship. Inside, you’ll find a ship’s log, which will tell you which ship the key is located on. The names of the wrecked ships are written in English on the wrecks, so you can identify it from there. It’s one of the many wrecks in the Shipwreck Graveyard. Swim from wreck to wreck, paying attention to the nameplates on each ship. When you find the Grim Fortune, you’ve found the correct wreck.
Upon reaching this wreck, you’ll notice that the Captain’s Cabin is locked. Inside the Captain's Cabin, you’ll find a Treasure Chest containing the Veil Stone. Once you’ve taken the chest, make sure not to drop it inside the cabin, as it may disappear!
There is also a Ship’s Log inside the wreck. It looks like a logbook and will tell you where to find the key to the Captain’s Cabin. Search every level of the wreck and interact with all the objects you can. You’ll uncover treasure pieces, including Athena's Fortune!
Once you find the Ship’s Log, interact with it, and you will receive new pages in your Quest Book. These pages will contain information about which ship the key is located on in the Shipwreck Graveyard.
Here’s an example of what each page could look like for different ships:
Find the Key to Grim Fortune
If you have obtained the Ship’s Log, read the log pages in your Quest Book, as it will tell you which ship holds the key. If you want to find it without the Ship’s Log, explore all the shipwrecks and interact with anything you can, which will allow you to obtain the key.
Once you’ve found the key, return to the Grim Fortune Shipwreck and unlock the Captain’s Cabin. Inside, you’ll find more treasure and a Treasure Chest containing the Veil Stone.
If you want to gather more loot and increase your Flag Rank, it will be worth spending time searching the other shipwrecks in the graveyard. Each Shipwreck will contain pieces of Athena's Fortune treasure hidden within.
Place the Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients on your ship to continue your journey!
Step 3: Obtaining The Second Veil Stone
After placing your first Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients, the Pirate Lord will appear again to direct you to your next Veil Stone. Then, as before, they will provide further instructions in your Quest Book.
The new quest pages will assign you to one of the remaining modules: Sudds module, Belle module, or Shipwreck Graveyard module.
For example, if you've already solved a puzzle with Sudds, you will either meet with Belle or search for a Shipwreck Graveyard.
Step 4: Obtaining The Third And Final Veil Stone
After placing the second Veil Stone into the Veil of the Ancients, the Pirate Lord will appear again to give you your final instructions.
While the modules and quests for the first two Veil Stones can vary, obtaining the third Veil Stone will always require you to take on the dreaded Haunted Fortress module!
Haunted Fortress Module
The Haunted Fortress module consists of a quest known as the Haunted Island Quest. This grand finale will have you face off against Flameheart's toughest forces amidst a supernatural storm!
Haunted Fortress Quest
The final quest in the Veil's Legend Journey involves an epic sea encounter with Ghost Ships, several Small Fortresses, and a massive Haunted Fortress in the Cursed Sea.
Not only your crew but all pirates can witness this encounter, much like a World Event. Therefore, you’ll need to watch your back, as the massive whirlpool at the center of the encounter will attract curious pirates.
To participate in the Haunted Fortress Quest, you must first destroy the three Small Fortresses surrounding the whirlpool. Afterward, you can take on the massive Haunted Fortress that guards the final Veil Stone!
Destroy the Three Small Fortresses
Each fortress is guarded by several Ghost Ships. Don't waste time defeating the Ghost Ships unless absolutely necessary. The Ghost Ships will continue to spawn around the fortress until you blow it up.
To blow up a fortress, you will need to hit it with five cannonballs. The number of cannonballs required may vary depending on your crew size, ranging from a maximum of 7-6 to a minimum of 3-4. Ensure you're hitting the upper part of the fortress, not the lower base. If your cannonball leaves a green hole in the fortress, you've successfully damaged it.
Once destroyed, the base of the fortress will remain intact, creating a platform you can climb. You'll want to search the ruins of the fortress to collect the remaining loot! On average, you'll find about 60 cannonballs, 60 planks, and some food.
After destroying all three fortresses, the spinning whirlpool will disappear, revealing the powerful Haunted Fortress!
Destroy the Haunted Fortress
To destroy the Haunted Fortress, you’ll need to blow up each of the buildings within the fortress. Like the Small Fortresses, aim for the upper part of the Haunted Fortress, not the base. Each building in the Haunted Fortress will require three cannonballs to destroy.
While battling the final large fortress, maneuver your ship around the base of the fortress so that only the Ghost Ships can shoot at your ship, and not the fortress. When needed, destroy the Ghost Ships, but be careful—if you destroy them too close, their explosion may cause your ship to be knocked off course. Also, watch out when approaching from the rear of the Ghost Ships, as they leave gunpowder barrels behind, and colliding with them can be fatal.
As with the Small Fortresses, the Haunted Fortress will leave behind a platform filled with treasures. Among the loot, you'll find a Legendary Chest and the third and final Veil Stone in a Treasure Chest!
Step 5: Place The Final Veil Stone On The Veil Of The Ancients
Place the third Veil Stone on the Veil of the Ancients, and the Pirate Lord will appear. He will congratulate you for a job well done, and you will have completed your journey.
If you lower and raise your flag before completing the journey, the quest may sometimes disappear without being completed!
