Introduction
This guide was written with the intent to show players how to catch the Chub in Winding Rivulet and to cover bottom fishing and spinning techniques. I know that Chub can be caught on the float fishing as well but I am not a fan of float fishing in currents. Please remember that in our game Fish might change spots and baits. Those spots that I will show you might not work in the future and the same goes to the baits I used.
Species Overview
Chub Squalius cephalus is a European species of freshwater fish in the carp family Cyprinidae. It is a stocky fish with a large rounded head. Its body is long and cylindrical in shape and is covered large greenish-brown scales which are edged with narrow bands of black across the back paling to golden on the flanks and even paler on the belly. The tail is dark brown or black and the dorsal fin is a greyish-green in colour and all the other fins being are orange-red. The vertebrae count is 42-48. It can grow to 60 cm standard length but most fish are around 30 cm. The fish can live for up to 22 years in the wild.
It is most abundant in small rivers and large streams where there are riffles and pools. It occurs along the banks of slow-flowing lowland rivers in a large lake and even in mountain streams. The adult fish are solitary but the juvenile fish are sociable and occur in shoals. The larvae and juveniles prefer rather shallow habitats along shorelines and these smaller fish have a diet of aquatic and terrestrial animals and plant material while the large, solitary adults prey mainly on fishes. Chub is also feeding on worms, mollusks, crustaceans, and various insect larvae while large chub eat considerable numbers of small fish, such as chub, eels, common dace, common roach, gudgeon and minnows as well as frogs, crayfish, voles and young water birds.
Setups
I spend around 6 hrs over 3 days trying 4 different spots on Winding Rivulet map. I used 2 feeders (bottom tackle) and 1 UL setup (spinning tackle). Below you'll find the setups that I've used, the baits that worked really good and the lures that helped me a great deal.
Locations
The spots that I was fishing on:
Spot no.1 - Not many chubs :(
Spot no.2 - Chub was baiting mostly on my spinning setup - I used UL setup and twitching with my small wobblers - retrieve speed 15.
Spot no.3 - No chubs were biting for me
Spot no.4 - Chubs Heaven - Had a lot of Chubs here on my feeders using Cockchafers and Grasshoppers.
Validation
Chubs were biting all day and night but the most bites I had were between 2 am and 10 am (in game ofc) temp 12-14 C no rain.
Chubs will also bite on other baits - Red worm, Worm and Pearl Barley but Cockchafers and Grasshoppers were their favourite baits.
Looks like chubs on bottom fishing likes an area between deep and shallow water - just at the edge.
Chubs were biting for me on spinning the most on spot no.2 Looks like they like shiny wobblers and sunny weather, and for bottom fishing at spot no.4
Average Chub Keep net during those 3 days.

Conclusion
Chubs are really nice looking and awesome fish to target. Chubs can be caught all day long but there are most active in the early morning and night. Chubs will bite on all different baits but I had the most success using insects ( bottom fishing) and small shiny wobblers (spinning setup). Look for the Chubs on the edge of deep and shallow water and use light setups to catch them.
The data that I've collected has yielded much useful information. Nevertheless, there are still things to explore. I encourage the motivated anglers to pick up where I've left of.
