The Appearance Of The Game.

PUBG: Battlegrounds (formerly known as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of the Korean publisher Krafton, formerly known as Bluehole. The game is based on previous versions for other games created by Brendan Greene under the pseudonym "PlayerUnknown", the concept of which was inspired by the Japanese film "Battle Royale" (2000). As a result, this led to the creation of an independent game, where Green acted as the lead game designer. The game has up to 100 players who land on the island, after which they search for equipment and weapons to kill other participants and at the same time stay alive themselves. The available safe zone on the in-game map begins to decrease over time, making the available space more cramped and the probability of a player collision higher. The last surviving player or team wins the round.

PUBG: Battlegrounds was released on Steam under the Early Access program on March 23, 2017 for the Windows operating system. During the first seven months after its release, more than 13 million copies of the game were sold, and the peak number of players reached more than 2 million by the end of the year, making it one of the most popular games on Steam. On October 31, PUBG sales exceeded 18 million copies. The full version of the game was released on December 21, 2017. The release for Xbox One under Microsoft Studios publishing took place on December 12 under the early access program, on September 4, 2018, the official release took place. On March 19, 2018, a free-to-play version of PUBG Mobile was released for Android and iOS. The PlayStation 4 version was announced in November 2018 and released on December 7, 2018.

Gameplay

PUBG: Battlegrounds is an action game in which no more than a hundred players fight in the "Battle Royale", a large-scale "last man standing" battle in deathmatch mode, where players fight among themselves to become the last survivor. Players can choose how to enter the match: alone, in pairs, in a trio, or in a squad of four. In any case, the last surviving person or team wins the match.

Based on Green's experience in the battle royale genre, an island was chosen as the first map, which is a mixture of unusual spaces, known as Erangel[8]. The purpose of the map design was to offer players a variety of possible strategic and unique gameplay options. Some buildings and structures were designed in the style of constructivist architecture of the Soviet Union

in the 1950s[9]. During early access, additional maps were planned, for example, one that takes place on a fictional island in the Adriatic Sea. Green stated that in his opinion, the Erangel map seems to be fragmented, and sought to implement more holistic ideas in future maps.

Each match begins with all players parachuting from a C-130 aircraft over a map marking a territory with an area of 1x1, 2x2, 4x4, 6x6 or 8x8 km. The flight route of the aircraft is randomly selected at the beginning of the match, which requires players to quickly determine the best moment to jump with a parachute[7]. Players start the round without any equipment, except for customizable clothing, which has almost no effect on gameplay. Once players land, they can inspect various buildings, structures, and other structures in search of weapons, vehicles, clothing, armor, tactical equipment, medicines, and other items. They are distributed throughout the map at the beginning of the match, with certain zones containing more of the best equipment. Killed players leave their equipment at the place of their death. Players can choose a first-person or third-person view, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages in the combat situation and analysis of the current situation; however, before the start of the match, the player can select settings for the server, allowing them to choose to use only one type of perspective for all players in order to eliminate some advantages (for example, an overview of the terrain from shelters).

Some time after landing, the game area begins to shrink in a random place every few minutes, while any player who finds himself outside the safe zone will start taking damage, which eventually leads to his death and the end of the match for him if he does not manage to reach the safe zone in time; in the game, the player sees the border The areas are like a shimmering bluish wall that narrows over time. As a result, the safe playing area becomes more and more limited, in turn increasing the chances of meeting other players. Also, during the match, a red zone appears in random areas of the map, which is bombarded, which poses a threat to players who remain in this area. In both cases, players are warned a few minutes before these events, which gives them time to move to a safe place. In addition, an airplane will periodically fly over various areas of the game area along a random route, parachuting a container with cargo containing items that are usually inaccessible during gameplay. Landed cargo is marked with a red smoke bomb, which attracts interested players and creates additional confrontations. On average, a full round lasts no more than 30 minutes.

At the end of each round, players receive in-game currency, as well as rating points based on the survival period, damage received, and the number of players they killed. The currency is used to buy boxes containing items of clothing and shoes, hats to customize the appearance of the character.

Development

The concept of the game was developed when lead designer Brendan Green, under the pseudonym "PlayerUnknown", began working as a modder on Arma 2, later creating his own game mode, which is now called "Battle Royale". This game mode was later implemented in other games, for example, H1Z1: King of the Kill. After seeing the commercial success of this genre, Brendan Green decided to make his own game in the "Battle Royale" mode. The game was released as part of the Steam Early Access program in March 2017. On December 21, 2017, the game was fully released.

October 16, 2017 Mail.Ru The Group has become the official distributor of the game in Russia.

On January 12, 2022, PUBG: Battlegrounds switched to a free-to-play model.
