Comment

I'm not author of this better method, this is something a lot of people mentioned below. Also you don't need quotes " before and after the runelite.exe target link, but that sure does make it look better.

Previous guide was a quick one without any serious thought put in to it, it just was the first thing I tried after getting my hands on the new steam client. It works but whenever an update occurs it overwrites itself, it could be bypassed by making osclient.exe a read only file or disabling any incoming updates.

1) find your steam client location (...\Steam\steamapps\common\Old School RuneScape\bin\win64)

2) find your runelite client location (...\AppData\Local\RuneLite)

3) move all your runelite files and folders to steam client folder

4) rename the steam "osclient" to "osclient_old" or something else, or just completely remove it.

5) rename "runelite" to "osclient"

6) launch the game

FAQ:

Q: Would achievements still work like this?

A: No, achievements work only on the newest client. If you are a long time player most -if not all achievements would've been unlocked right after logging in the first time with the new steam client.

Q: What about steam-linked RuneScape account?

A: Steam linked RuneScape account must be also linked with an email in order to use RuneLite, this can be done at official RuneScape[oldschool.runescape.com] webpage by logging in with steam and adding an email to your account.
