Tips for surviving in Muck

World Creation

so lets start with making the world. i recommend easy first, and maybe trying the harder difficulties if you can beat easy mode. you can also enable creative mode, which disables automatically spawning mobs/bosses at night, decrease enemy hp, and also makes days not pass. but we're going to assume you will select survival mode.

The Start

when you spawn into your world, you should first find a rock. you can use the rock to destroy trees (only the ones with green leaves). when you have 10 pieces of wood from the trees, make a workbench. this will allow you to make things like wooden tools, bowls, bark, and chests. first, make a wooden pickaxe and axe. with these tools, you can mine other ores. Heres a list of what ores and trees there are and what tier of pickaxes and axes you can destroy them with.

wooden pickaxe / wooden axe : iron ore / birch trees

iron pickaxe / iron axe : mithril ore / fir trees mithril pickaxe / mithril axe : adamantite ore / oak trees adamantite pickaxe / adamantite axe : obamium ore, dark oak trees

all of the mentioned tools need bark to be crafted.

also, you can keep making worlds and exiting them until you get a world where you spawn by a village. more on that later.

another thing you should do is scavenge for food. while you are looking for resources, you may see purple, yellow or orange (maybe red) mushrooms. some may also be multicolored. you should pick them up, because they can restore some of your health, stamina, or hunger. red ones restore your hp, yellow ones restore your hunger, and purple ones restore your stamina. the multicolored ones fill up all of your bars. you should also pick up apples.

speaking of bars, lets talk about stamina, hunger and hp. stamina is used for running and jumping. if you have no stamina, you cannot jump or run. hunger refills stamina when stamina is used. if you have no hunger, no stamina will be regenerated. hp is the amount of hits you can take before you die. its important to keep your health at full, because if you die, you cant respawn (unless a friend uses a revival statue, which we will also talk about more on later.)

Fighting Enemies

when nighttime is present, enemies will spawn and try to kill you. Heres what enemies will do, and what you can do.

goblins

goblins are green humanoids that carry bones. they use these bones either for battering you or throwing them as a ranged attack.

hp: 60

speed: 7.5

an easy way of killing them is by kiting them. basically, attacking them and quickly retreating. and if they use their ranged attack, run away and go in another direction while jumping. this makes it harder for the bone to hit you.

they can drop wood, coins, sometimes gold ore. their rare drops are ancient bones and sword blades / sword hilts. its extremely unlikely you will be able to get a sword blade or sword hilt let alone one of them. ancient bones are less rarer and can be used to make an ancient bow. the ancient bow uses 3 arrows instead of one arrow.

dave

daves are bipedal, green creatures. they bite you to attack.

hp: 40

speed: 14

if you use a bow against daves, they cant really do anything about it except get closer and try to bite you. the only thing they even drop is coins.

golems

golems are grey, stony creatures. they have a ranged attack and a melee attack.

hp: 150

speed: 5

golems have a weakness to pickaxes, so you should use them if you are fighting one. theyre also slow, so you can probably escape and have some time to prepare. you can also run away and jump if they use their ranged attack.

they drop rocks, coins, flint and sometimes iron ore.

wolf

wolfs are extremely fast, and can overpower you if not prepared.

hp: 60

speed: 26

weakness: fire

because they're so fast, using a bow is kind of meaningless since they can easily catch up to you, unless if the bow does more damage than your melee weapon.

elemental daves (fire, lightning and water daves)

hp: 100

speed: 8

weakness: fire (lightning variant), water (fire variant), lightning (water variant)

these daves have more hp, and also a ranged attack, but less speed. its ranged attack can take a huge chunk of hp if not careful. one way you can combat them is you can make some stairs that go up (about 4 or 5), and then shoot the daves with arrows. just keep in mind that they can break the stairs (its good there isn't fall damage in this game). you can also circle them so that it makes it harder for them to attack you.

Fighting Bosses

bosses are something you will need to worry about, as they will automatically spawn every few nights. 6 days on easy, 5 days on normal, and 3 days on gamer.

big chunk

big chunk is a very large golem.

base hp: 700

speed: 14

weakness: blunt

big chunk used two attacks:

using its giant club arm to smash you

or

jumping and sending debris flying

its a bit slow though, so if it looks like its about to jump or swing its club arm, run away.

the debris attack can be tough to avoid, but if you're quick, you can place some stairs.

if you defeat this boss, you can get coins, rocks, coal, chunkium ore, an ancient core, mithril ore, and a hammer shaft.

gronk

base hp: 600

speed: 29

gronk is, in my opinion, the nastiest of the bunch. he has speed that's faster than the wolfs (which also makes him the fastest ground unit in the game), and also has hard-hitting attacks. its almost impossible to get to a safe distance from him, because he will eventually catch up. and its going to be a challenge especially if you arent prepared.

he has three attacks:

repeatedly slashing at the ground, doing heavy damage,

charging up his sword and then dishing out 5 sword projectiles,

and throwing his swords at the player.

you can block the sword throwing if you stand behind a tree or house. you can also dodge the "sword shockwave" attack if you get a powerup that upgrades your jump. strafing from left to right can also work.

if you manage to kill him, you can get coins, oak wood, ancient cores, dark oak wood, a sword blade or hilt, an ancient bone, and gronks blade.

chief

base hp: 650

speed: 26

i dont have a lot of experience since with this boss, but i will try to point out what he can do.

his attacks include:

slashing his spear,

spinning,

slamming which is marked with a red circle,

and throwing his spear at you, which can inflict high damage. you might be able to block the spear with a wall or tree.

if you defeat chief, he can drop coins, oak wood, ancient cores, dark oak wood, spear tip and chiefs spear. oh, and he also drops a power up. how nice of him.

Villages And Buildings

in muck, there are villages and other things like totems and buildings. (that rhymed.)

wildcards (woodmen with white pants) have random trades of each villager.

also, note that if you attack a villager, or open the chiefs chest, the villagers will attack you.

now that we discussed villages, lets talk about structures.

loot chests come in black, white, blue and gold colors.

black chest cost: 0 coins commonly drops: common items (but sometimes rare or legendary

white chest cost: 25 coins commonly drops: common items (but sometimes rare or legendary)

blue chest cost: 80 coins only drops: rare items or legendary items

gold chest cost: 200 coins only drops: legendary items

the prices can increase as the days pass.

wooden cart: contains 1-3 chests containing basic items.

battle shrine: summons 3 buffed enemies. if all summoned enemies are killed, it turns into a power up.

warning: in the later days, battle shrines may summon 3 buffed bosses.

respawn totem: only useful in multiplayer. if a player has been killed, another player can revive them for 20 coins.

huts: usually spawn in villages. may contain chests that have different loot depending on what job the owner has.

smith huts have mining-related items.

jack huts have axes and wood.

pitman huts have mining-related items.

fletcher huts have arrows and bows.

cook huts have food and sometimes coal and wood.

looter huts have chests that have common powerups in them. the chests do not require coins to open.

boss totems: like battle shrines, except they spawn 1 boss. the boss it spawns depends on what boss the totem shows.

shipwreck: an abandoned ship that can be repaired. used to leave muck.

caves: contains ores and rubies. they also have chests sometimes.

trader camp: has woodmen, huts, and a cheifs chest. has piles of wood and stone.

A Few Tips

here's some tips that could help you out:

walls can block ranged attacks. they eventually break, though.

sell iron ore and dark oak wood to villagers for coins.

its better to buy weird soup instead of the other soups, because weird soup only costs 5 more coins, and aids in hp, hunger and stamina a lot.

if you can, buy adamantine tools from the villagers. they can be used to make obamium tools and armor.

The End.

this is the end of this guide. i hope it helped you survive in muck for longer.
