EZ Early-Game Gear and EXP

Introduction

In the early game, you have nothing but the clothes on your back and whatever is granted to you by your background. This guide seeks to remedy that.

Step 1: The Long And Lonely Road

Travel to Rivacheg. You may find the journey perilous, as it goes straight through Sea Raider (and, depending on the route you take, Taiga Bandit) territory. Just stay sharp, don't use Ctrl+Space and don't pick up unnecessary recruits - they will only slow you down.

Step 2: Rivacheg

Once in Rivacheg, look for the chest with the strange sword and armor. In case you aren't aware, it's hidden in a haystack down an alleyway - you can find many other guides detailing its exact location. If you don't have a shield, it is cruical that you buy one. Once you've done that, seek out the lord of the town - Boyar Meriga. If he's not in the city, the safest course is to wait for him to arrive - wandering around will only increase the risk of ambush by Sea Raiders. Since you can't mouse over parties while waiting, you will need to remember his banner - blue zig-zag waves on a yellow field.

Step 3: A Small Favor

Ask Meriga for a task. He is guaranteed to give you Destroy Bandit Lair - the task we're after. Now begins the most dangerous part of your journey. You must travel west along the northern coast of Calradia, from Rivacheg to Wercheg. Sea Raider landings are consistent - you are guaranteed to run into one on your way there.

Step 4: One-Man Wrecking Crew

Attack the Sea Raider landing. This is not only possible but very easy - I have tested it on 111% difficulty, as high as it can go without turning on Realistic Mode, and haven't taken a single hit. Your sword is very fast and most sea raiders don't wear helmets, so this ought to be a breeze.

Step 5: Invaluable Gear

Grab all of the worthwhile loot (that is, anything worth over 100 gold). You are guaranteed to get at least one suit of chainmail - an excellent addition to any early-game player's arsenal. In addition, you may find a Nordic Helmet (very good at +40 to head armor), nordic swords (far better than most starting weapons) and longbows (invaluable for a bow build). Now geared for battle, you may head back to Rivacheg to turn the quest in. This should jump you like four levels and give you over a thousand gold.

Step 6: Profit

You have now received a very considerable boost on your path to greatness. From then on, farm tournaments until you can afford a weavery and dyeworks in Rivacheg - it can produce up to a thousand gold per week, which, along with mercenary payments is able to maintain most mid-to-late armies.
