Here is a list of favorite companions in the A World of Ice and Fire Mod.

Why This Group?

This is the best mixture of size and character type that I've found in the game. You'll be able to have the most companions with a diverse skill set who all have "good" character archetypes. Enjoy!

The Companions

In no particular order, here are the 12 companions:

  • Ser Barristan Selmy (Frontliner)
  • Brienne of Tarth (Frontliner)
  • Dacey Mormont (Frontliner)
  • Hagen the Beautiful (Frontliner)
  • Mya Stone (Frontliner)
  • Syrio Forel (Frontliner)
  • Ser Beron Grey (Archer / Frontliner - he has good proficiency at 1h and archery)
  • Kuleket (Flex)
  • Gendry (Flex)
  • Podrick Payne (Flex)
  • Val (Support)
  • Sylva OR Qyburn, but not both (I prefer Sylva because she approves of Ser Baron Grey) (Healer)
Kingsguard

You can recruit every single member of the Kingsguard. They have to have bee taken prisoner and you must rescue them. I have no idea if there is another way to recruit them. Anyways, there are 8 Kingsguard and they all are eligible (as far as I know) to become a member of your party. They NEVER have a problem with the companions in the above list but they do not necessarily have good personality types. Each member of the Kingsguard is pure infantry and they're amazing troops to have. this brings your companion count to 20!

To Clarify

Frontliner: I just mean that they they start off as great infantry to have.

Flex: These guys start at low enough levels that you can mold them to to whatever you need.

Support: Val is good at archery, but she has also has secondary skills that are beneficial to the party. I call her support because she isn't a pure fighter due to her party-related skills.

Healer: They heal. Surely you don't expect me to have to explain this?

Other Notes

I know Sam is in this mod, but I haven't run across any event/quest to get him so I have no idea where he fits on this list. As for the other companions, they don't make this list because they have issues with one or more of members listed above. As an additional benefit, some of these companions have leadership skills, which do stack in this mod. Combined, I think they add around 100 or so to your total party size, which is pretty great. As I noted earlier, they all have positive personality types.

Little Clan Piece

Super quick: I started a GoT themed clan named House Brightfyre. We'll play all kinds of mods and we accept anyone regardless of experience or skill. We're looking to have a fun time while we wait for Bannerlord rather than being tryhards at the game. While we're a relaxed group, we do have structure and rules in place to ensure the best experience for all. If this sounds like something you'd be into, message me on Discord at Ecgtheow#0861. You MUST have a mic and the Discord app.
