How to: Haven Online

Quick Start With The Combat Tutorial

Here is a quick walkthrough on how I would like to spend my first 30ish minutes as a new player.

After spawning in, learn about the game from tutors and the Haven Mentor nearby. Most importantly talk to combat, crafting and butchery tutors, cause those skills are useful for later parts in this walkthrough. See Tutors section below in this guide for more help.

Start progressing through the tutorial by following the marker in your compass.

After puncing some training dummies, you are taken to a graveyard with some zombies. Follow the tutorial until you have to go "find the pigs"

Before leaving for the pigs, this is good time to test different weapons against the walking dead, and also gather some gold. In addition to selling the heads to the vendor, you can also butcher the corpses, and sell the Bone Tissue.

Your goal is to get to at least 5.5 total gold. You can farm the rest at the pigs, but the zombies give clade xp, so the choice is up to you.

Proceed to the pigs, and complete the combat tutorial.

Butcher the pigs for as much Fullgrain leather as you can carry. This is also a good spot to level your butcher appliance skills later, because the table is so close to the pigs. You can sell all extra materials to the ranger vendor by buying only 1 arrow, so he'll give you the rest in coin.

Now with 5.5G and inventory full of leather, return to town

Bank your leather for now. Banks in town:

Go to the library with your 5.5G. The library is in the Northen part of town. Use the compass if you're having trouble with orientation.

At the library, buy Reading book (50s) from Common librarian, Tindremic Guard Armor from Crafting librarian, and Quality Leather Lore from Animal material librarian (upstairs)

First start reading the Quality Leather Lore book. Right click to read.

Start progressing the crafting tutorial until you learn how to find Cotton (you can complete it now or later). Gather a few thousand units, and try to remember this spot for later.

Now you can start crafting Kallardian Padded helmets to level your soft armor crafting to 30. The helmets give best xp / material. Armorcrafting station is at the market square, near the crafting tutor. Use Fullgrain leather as the core material, and cotton as padding. Keep all extra material sliders at 0%, because they won't give any extra xp. The sliders will be used to make maximum protection armor when your skills reach at least 70.

When you reach level 30 in soft armor crafting, cancel the reading of Quality Leather Lore in your Character Sheet window [C].

Start reading the first levels of Tindremic Guard Armor crafting. Wait for "Skill increased text in your chat", the first level takes a minute.

After you got your first levels in Tindremic Guard Armor crafting. Cancel the reading in your Character Sheet window [C].

Start reading the book "Reading". Read this fully (~10 IRL hours)

Now you can start crafting Tindremic Guard helmets to level your armor crafting. The helmets give best xp / material. Armorcrafting station is at the market square, near the crafting tutor.

When you run out of Fullgrain leather you can start gathering Quality Leather from Springboks. The best place with starter gear would be the final combat tutorial spot near the ranger vendor, because the Springboks there have less hp, so the killing is faster. The tutorial Sprinboks can even be killed with melee quite easily.

With these instructions you can create pretty much max defense armor for Haven, when your material lore and crafting skills reach 70. Skills over 70 only give you more durability when crafting, so leaving the level at 70 is fine until you learn more about other skills, and what you want to do in Mortal Online 2

The final result (which will be way past 30 mins lol) will be a full Quality leather (core & padding, 100% sliders) Tindremic Guard Armor set, making you well prepared for facing your first bandits or bears.

Simplified /endtutorial version for Haven veterans Get at least your main combat, armor crafting and butchering skills from tutors

Farm at the graveyard for gear upgrades, gold and if you want, 1-2 clade levels

Farm nearby pigs for as much Fullgrain leather as you can carry. Note that you can sell the extra mats to the nearby ranger vendor.

Have at least 3 Gold before starting your trip back. An ideal amount would be 3.5G for Rugged Garments user, or 5.5G for Tindremic Guard Armor (best possible in Haven)

Haul your gold and leather back to town and bank the leather.

Go to the library, and buy Reading (50s) from Common librarian, Quality Leather Lore from Animal material librarian, and Rugged Garments (50s) or Tindremic Guard Armor from Crafting librarian

Learn the armor skill of your choice, then the Quality Leather material, and finally start fully reading the Reading book. Remember to wait for the skill ticks on the first two books

Go get some cotton, and start leveling your armoring by crafting helmets, with cotton as a padding material, and both sliders at 0%

After running out of Fullgrain leather, go hunt some Springboks for fresh quality leather. Ranged weapon advisable.

At 70 relevant lore and crafting skill, craft a full Quality Leather set (no cotton!) with 100% sliders. You'll need roughly 700 Quality Leather

You're now pretty much at max armor for Haven. Go kill some bandits if you didn't already!

Tutors

Fabernum has multiple skill tutors available, that provide you help with game mechanics, and also provide some free skill points. Not every skill is covered by these tutors, but it's well enough to get you started in Haven. I highly recommend reading the dialogs.

Note that in order to gain all the skills, you have to click through all the dialog options. The skills gained can be seen in your skills chat tab.

Learning all the possible skills at the start won't put you into a disadvantage, because you can easily reduce skill levels later in the skills menu [L], if you start running out of points to spare.

Changing Or Leaving Haven

The Haven island has two locations where you can change your Haven instance, for example in order to play with friends, and one of these locations also let's you leave Haven permanently for Nave. Nave is what the world of MO2 is called, and Myrland is one of its continents.

These actions are performed by interacting with theirs respective statues. Note that it is perfectly safe to interact with these statues. You won't be sent to Myrland for simply touching. Interacting with the statues shows you a dialog with additional confirmation steps.

Changing Haven instance

You can change Haven instance by interacting with the statue near the market square. You can also see your own Haven instance code by interacting with the statue on the left.

You can also change Haven instance at the fishing village, where the Nave statue is located.

Travelling to Myrland

Nave statue for travelling to Myrland is located on the southern coast of Haven island. The road there consists of Bandits and a possible wolf pack, so leaving your game unattended on your way there is not advisable. But don't worry, you can easily outrun these enemies if you find yourself overwhelmed.

It is also possible to change your Haven instance at the fishing village.

Managing Your Bodyweight

Disclaimer: My current knowledge is quite limited on this subject, so the numbers I present may not be completely accurate. My claims were inspired by this video:

https://youtu.be/a3s0vqdLXOQ

So here's what I think I know after a little weight loss experiment:

Using your health or stamina reserves is the key for losing weight

When trying to lose weight, try to keep your reserves below 50% at all times (this translates to a 30% greybar @ 50% reserves). Needs more testing though.

Drawing a bow you don't have the STR for, drains stamina reserves very fast

You do not lose weight when AFK and hungry

The process is very slow to execute, maybe around 30min / kg, needs further testing

Gaining weight happens when eating at max health or stamina reserves. It might even be that being close to max reserves is enough, needs testing

For gaining weight, the hunger meter is the bottleneck, so eating the strongest health/stamina food possible is advisable. You get more hungry when your reserves are used, so: "food eaten" > "reserves spent when trying to get your hunger up"

Armor Crafting

Springboks

At the time of writing, you are limited to only 3 different armor sets in Haven, and they all belong to the soft category. The armor categories go as follows:

Soft

Laminated

PlateLaminated and Plate Armor crafting can both be learned in Haven by reading the books from the Crating librarian, but the skills themselves are pointless in Haven without the armor set "recipes". These two books, costing 2.5G and 10G respectively, serve only one purpose, which is to learn the skills in advance to kickstart your armor crafting career in Myrland

How to, and what to craft The armor crafting station is located at the market square, next to the Crafting tutor.

Core material defines the look, and has a strong effect on durability

Padding material has more effect on the protection values

All pieces give the same amount of xp, but helmets need the least materials, so craft those for xp.

Using more material does not give more xp, so keep the sliders at 0%

You can use cotton as padding to save your precious leather when leveling.

100% slider for maximum protection, adjust and experiment if you need to hit a specific weight target.

A full set at 100% sliders costs around 500-700 units of material.

Armor crafting levels and crafting qualityThe quality of your crafted armor depends on your obvious (soft) armor crafting skills, but also on the relevant material lore skills, depending on your choice of material. You have to learn it before you can properly work it, so in order to make the best possible armor set from your new choice of material, you first have to have the patience to either read the lore book, or learn by butchering or crafting with it.

When your crafting or lore skill reaches the effective level 70, you've reached the maximum armor value you can craft. Further levels only give you more durability, so keep that in mind when you start prioritizing your skill point distribution.

Haven armor material rank listTop 4: Name Gathered from Book cost Properties 1. Guard Fur Bears (rare) 10g Highest pierce and slash defense, hard to get 2. Quality Leather , also from other aggressive animals 2.5g Very easy to get, only slightly (~5%) weaker in pierce/slash armor than Guard Fur 3. Guard Fur Bears, Wolves 2.5g Highest blunt armor, heaviest 4. Fullgrain Leather (Bush) Pigs 10s Useful for leveling new armor recipe skills

Gathering Quality Leather requires you to first learn its lore skill from the book. The price is 2.5G from the Animal Material Lore librarian. Note that this only required for Quality Leather

If you like to play the fashion game, and don't mind a slight decrease in armor, you can swap out the core material for different looks. Try it out! My personal favorite so far has been Alvarin skin. The clean surface and light color really makes you stand out compared to the standard High Quality leather.

Haven armor set rank list Name Book cost Properties 1. Tindremic Guard 2.5g Overall best for Haven due to highest slash armor 2. Kallardian Padded 50s, learned from tutor 25% lighter and has 5% higher pierce defense than Tindremic Guard 3. Rugged Garments 50s Very light, "mage robes"The books are bought from Crafting librarian.

Taming

You

In Haven the uses of taming are quite limited due to the lack of key equipment and skills, so passive animals such as Springboks are only useful as a source experience for leveling r Creature Control or Taming. Only animals that are aggressive towards when approached in the wild can be used as attack pets. In Haven there are only three types of aggressive animals available:

Wolves

Razorbacks

Black bears

Out of these three, the Black bear would be r ultimate Haven endgame goal

Skills available in Haven from Common librarian and Taming tutor (see Tutors section for location)

Skill Price Used for Domestication 10s, free level 25 from tutor Secondary - Parent skill for all beast master skills Taming 2.5g, free level 25 from tutor Required to tame stronger animals Creature Control 2.5g, free level 25 from tutor Increases r maximum pet control points Veterinary 5g Healing pets with bandages. Should be paired with Anatomy skill

Leveling TamingI highly recommend to get started by talking to the Taming tutor, because learning the skills from books would be quite expensive, and I was unable to learn them by action, even though the UI hints that it should be possible...

However I do recommend to read the Creature Control skill book while leveling Taming, so 'll be more prepared for r Black bear when the time comes. You wouldn't wan't to cause accidental deaths of other players, when r shiny new bear breaks its leash in town - right? :)

In order to tame need to get close to r target and hold r interaction key [R]. Note that with aggressive animals need to get them to the mercy state (low hp) first in order to attempt taming. Mercy state also helps with passive animals running away.

The taming process consists of 4 "dice skill checks", happening every 25% of the progress circle. At each point get 9 Taming experience, sometimes even if fail. So passing all 4 checks gives a maximum of 36 xp per tame.

If succesfully tame the animal, can abandon them from pet menu [P], and start immediately taming it again. Alternatively can always stop taming at 75%, to minimize interruptions and extra clicks.

1-35

Tutorial animals refer to the Pigs and Springboks east of Graveyard, near the ranger vendor, which was introduced in the combat tutorial. The tutorial Springboks are way easier to approach, and don't even have to mercy state them.

Animal | Max effective level to be gained

Tutorial Pigs | 20

Taming Tutor | 25 base skill

Tutorial Springboks | 35

Note that the skill level breakpoints for the end of xp gain are based on r effective skill level, so attribute (INT/PSY) bonuses count. This makes it possible for to abuse easier tutorial animals for longer, if start r Taming journey at low INT/PSY. Not sure if this is intentional, so it might be fixed in the future.

35-At this point the training gets more difficult and quite RNGish. You can no longer go to a specific area and mindlessly tame everything at r sights. This is because animals all have different ages (levels) when they spawn, older animals require higher Taming level, and too ng don't give any xp. For example a herd of Springboks may have ng, adult and elder Springboks, and all these age categories differ greatly in Taming difficulty.

Okay, so dividing in to 3 age categories seems simple, and this information is already displayed as a part of the animal's name, so what's the problem? Well, in my experience even a ng category has internal age differences causing a variance of up to 10 taming levels to the skill breakpoints. So a lot of trial and error is required for to find r next taming target. Forming detailed stat tables would take a lot of research, which I don't have the time for, so the following recommendations are based on my own subjective experience when leveling:

Levels Animal Notes 35-45 Young Springboks Chasing these is a pain. It's possible to go higher than 45 with springboks. These can be found pretty much anywhere. 45-60 Young Wolves At around 45 skill no longer have a "low chance" against a level 1 Wolf. I love wolves cause they find first, and get to choose the best one to tame. Easy to find at the southern part of the island. To be continued - maybe At this point likely understand the trial and error aspect of Taming, so go explore!

Tips for leveling You can use weapons while taming, which makes it easy to keep the animal permanently in mercy state.

Honestly leveling Taming is such a chore, might as well read the book and level Creature Control by leveling pets while doing other activities. You can get a wolf quite early at 40 ish Taming.

Pet experience & levelsNote that the relevant skills for improving pet leveling speed are not available in Haven.

At 1000/1000 loyalty r pet gains 101 experience every 10 seconds. So roughly 15 minutes per level.

Attacking walking dead at Haven graveyard with a level 13 Wolf yields an estimated total xp rate of 5 minutes per level.

Attacking training dummies does not give experience.

Higher level pets requires more pet control points.

You gain Creature Control skill experience when a pet levels up. Creature Control gives more pet control points.
