You need certain character types to do stuff, so to save yourself the hassle of going to the character menu each time you need to change your character, you can prepare the characters you are going to use. There are 10 slots in total. Two characters you can change between at any time and eight more you can quickly swap to. You can use any character from each type you need, most of them do the same things.

These are the characters I use, but you can use any characters you like

Bounty Hunter - Boba Fett

Hero - Padmé

Scavenger - Rey

Scoundrel - Chewbacca (not needed)

Protocol droid - C-3PO

Villain - FN-2199

Astromech droid - BB-9E

Jedi - Obi-Wan Kenobi

Now let's go a bit more in depth for each of the character type you will need.

Hero

There is only one type of interaction available for the hero characters - the hero console

Other than that, this character type has a grapple, which is very useful.

Villain

For heroes there is a hero console, and for villains there is a villain console:

Villains have an other use too, if you find a silver block, villains can throw a grenade to destroy it.

Protocol Droid

Protocol droids have 3 uses in total. A protocol droid console, a key console and disassembly.

There is a bug I know of, where you can't use the key console if you changed your key bindings. If you set them back to default it will work. You can change them back to your liking afterwards

Astromech Droid

Astromech droids have only one use, and that is the astromech console.

Scavenger

Scavenger characters are one of the more useful types of characters. There are 3 unique things only they can do.

Scavenger characters have a breaker blaster, which allows them to destroy cracked walls

They have a net launcher, which will allow you to climb towards your objective

And finally, they have a glider. The glider will save you so much time if you use it. So use it.

Jedi / Sith

You can have either a Jedi or a Sith. It doesn't really matter, both can use the force and both can mind control, which are the two things you will need.

Bounty Hunter

The last character you will need to use is the bounty hunter. Bounty hunters can destroy golden blocks simply by shooting them a couple of times.

Other than that, bounty hunters have a jetpack and a grapple gun, which is an overpowered combo. Using these two together, you can skip a big part of each jumping puzzle.

There are a couple of character slots remaining, you can fill these as you like. I also included a scoundrel type character. I can't recall a single instance, where you need this character outside of the main missions, but I included it in my selection nonetheless.

Tips

1/Complete all the main story missions first. This way you will unlock all the planets, and all the side missions also (some of them are locked until you complete a certain mission that unlocks them). And you will most likely have all the characters you need already unlocked after completing the story missions.

2/Use the glider and the jetpack. Using these, you can save yourself a fair amount of time. Do keep in mind however, that these have a duration of use. If you are in the sky for too long, you will fall.

3/Don't forget about capital ships. There are collectibles in these as well. If you have a capital ship unlocked, you can summon it from the ships menu while in space.

4/Some side missions will give you both a character / ship and a kyber brick. Trials (shooting, racing) can give you kyber bricks also. The same is with challenges, upon completion you will receive kyber bricks from them.

5/You can skip some jumping puzzles by using the force on another character to fly them there and then simpling switching to that character.

6/Get the collectable detector upgrade from the core upgrades menu. With this unlocked you will see where the bricks are. Some may consider this cheating, so use this only if you want to.

7/Some of the bricks are in buildings that are in a different instance than the main zone(s) of the planet. If you don't want to check every single building in the zone, you can go to the missions tab - puzzles. Here you can buy a rumor for the kyber bricks. With this rumor unlocked, you can use a tracker, which will lead you right to the brick you want. Each rumor costs 30k studs.

8/ Some side missions are unlocked only after you complete other side missions related to them. This means, that completing a mission on one planet can unlock a mission on a planet on the other side of the galaxy. If you feel like you did everything you could see, check the missions menu. If you buy a rumor for a side mission, you will see the prerequisites.

9/ If you don't want to buy all these rumors, talk to NPCs that have an info bubble above them. They will you give a rumor for free.

10/If you don't know what to do, just look around. There is probably something you can interact with or something you can break.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading! Hopefully you will find this little guide useful in your adventures in a galaxy far, far away.
