Some Notes Before
Anyone playing on legendary will want to pick up the Tank Cannon Gun from this outpost to make Legendary or even LASO much much easier to complete. As I have heard that it is still there in LASO runns.
Take note that you cannot be hurt by the splash of the scorpion gun, so you can shoot any enemy without worrying about killing yourself, no matter how close the enemy is to you, but if they are too close, you may have to jump first to actually shoot them because of the way the invisible cannon is placed, ie, your shot might explode under the floor geometry instead of shooting the enemy.
Make sure that you do this your first time at the Outpost during the mission Outpost Tremonius. It has been confirmed that if you leave/finish the mission by either leaving the zone or boarding the Pelican, the Gun will not be there when you return to the outpost later, it Must be done during Outpost Tremonius mission
It should also be noted that I did all of this on Legendary and with the Pelican sitting on the Landing Pad waiting for me to get in to take me to the next mission because I had made sure to kill everything around me and "claim" the outpost before exploring it, so if it doesn't work for you, try to do it with the Pelican waiting on you after you have killed everything if you try it before that point and it doesn't work.
The Pelican is not in the Pictures because I came back to the Outpost later after getting the Gun to take Pictures of the Cannons for the Guide, Getting the Scorpion Gun must be done the first time you are at the Outpost
How To Get The Scorpion Gun
After you have killed all the enemies at the Outpost, or after doing the Orbital Strike Easter Egg, You want to take a look at the ruins of the Reverie on the Eastern edge of the Outpost.
At the front of the ship are 2 AA cannons and a button, you want to make your way to these cannons and press the button right beside the Southern Cannon.
Though the button is also for an Easter egg, I don't know if this button affects the Scorpion Gun spawning or not so go ahead and press it before heading to the Northern Cannon as I had pressed this button before finding the Gun, you can test if you need the button or not by just moving on to the next part instead of pressing the button, but please post here if it did or didn't work without the button being pressed.
(The button is located beside the south AA Cannon and is for sure for an easter egg that can be done before clearing the outpost, I am not sure though if you need to click the button beforehand to make the Scorpion Gun show up so go ahead and activate it for the hell of it.)
(Image is just showing both cannons, Button would be beside the left Cannon in reference to the picture, on the other side of the "railing", Southern Cannon by Compass directions, During the Mission a dead marine will be beside the button, if you come back later the button and the marine will be gone)
After pressing the button, Stand on the end/very tip of the Northern AA cannon's right barrel while facing North/The way the Barrel is pointed, and you will see a Pick up prompt which will swap out whatever weapon you are holding for the Scorpion Gun.
After swapping you will now have an invisible Scorpion Cannon gun (kind of like Scarab Gun in Halo 2)
(This picture is standing on the Northern Cannon, the one you need to be on, stand on the very tip of the right barrel, facing North, and you will see a Pick Up prompt which will be the Scorpion Gun
(picture is looking south, ie, the wrong direction but is pictured this way to show you that you need to be on the farthest North Cannon)
Scorpion Gun Info
The Tank Cannon/Scorpion Gun has Infinite Ammo and you can take it with you to the next mission and beyond.
As far as I can tell, the only way to lose the Scorpion Gun is if you swap it for another weapon, you can switch between it and your secondary weapon, but do not swap the Scorpion Gun with a weapon pickup or you will lose the Scorpion Gun.
You will still have it if you save and quit, so as long as you don't drop it, you will keep it for your entire playthrough, I have managed to keep it since picking it up in that mission (I have progressed quite a ways since grabbing the Scorpion Gun and still have it so far).
Using the gun has a few minor issues, One is you have no character animations when using it, so you can't melee, and you can't grab ledges while holding it, if you need to melee or grab ledges, you will want to change to your secondary weapon, and then change back to the scorpion gun when needed.
The only other issue is with shooting things lower than you are (assuming because of the way tank cannons work) so you might have to jump and then shoot, if you are on a ledge trying to take out enemies lower than you
Another quirk of the Scorpion Gun is if you have it selected and enter cutscenes where Chief is holding a weapon in his hands, the gun will be invisible and he will be holding air in the Cutscene.
(Added a few images, Cant add an image of the button since I came back to the area later with Fast travel to get pictures of the cannon)
