Normal Balance
Here I will go over why each piece is balanced or why they aren't.
DISCLAIMER: This will include some opinions (duh) and may be inaccurate at some points.
PAWN
Baby's first fight.
The pawn is a good generalist, employing both movement, marksmanship, and sustained fire.
Not much to say, honestly.
KNIGHT
The normal knight is boring but very underrated. With the ability to instakill a king and to kill anything else in 2 shots, you cannot, under any circumstance, let your guard down or get too cocky. One slip up and you're gone. Oh, and good luck landing headshots.
However, the knight can be easily shut down by simply staying far away OR moving super fast, thus making it balanced.
BISHOP
The most (practically) broken piece on the board. With wings of light blinding any rook, and unmatched mobility, your fate is sealed.
The bishop's only weakness is board mobility. In combat, however, that is un-so.
By simply gliding down and up repeatedly in a (learned) pattern, you can gain infinite speed. However, the acceleration degrades with use. This would be balanced if you couldn't simply clip an object before re-entering glide to reset acceleration degradation, as well as increasing and maintaining speed.
Not to mention that the glide makes the bishop immune to the king's pull.
NERF IDEA: Give gliding a cooldown of maybe 5-8 seconds. That way acceleration will degrade as normal after extended use.
ROOK
The second most (theoretically) broken piece. A perfect headshot is an instakill, no questions asked. This can be refuted by blocking, thus making rook (mostly) balanced.
QUEEN
A noob's best friend...
The Queen is actually quite balanced, with good mobility and DPS but a large window for weakness if you can survive, as well as one of the largest head hitboxes. She may be considered a "Prince(ss) Rupert's drop cannon"
KING
A good king can be as badass as an anime protagonist if you get good at them. Problem is, it's hard to get good at King when you, y'know, loose the whole game if you loose a fight?
Of course, he is otherwised balanced by the fact that he's melee, and has a 5 second long window of weakness if he's caught lacking.
Shiny Balance
Refer to the disclaimer in the previous section
PAWN
A fun piece, possessing a surprising amount of mobility.
They may suffer the same problem as the normal king (melee issue), but they do have some compensation.
The clones can give the player more survivability through confusion and deception, as well as offering a way to double jump and close the distance.
Not to mention the fact that the clones can deal damage, move at a faster base speed, can block (as can the player).
Also it's funny to get instakills by stacking in a corner and throwing the sword.
KNIGHT
Somewhat similar to the normal knight in that you cant let your guard down.
Also has similar weaknesses, those being distance and speed. Although this is lessened by the (Shiny) Knight's greater aerial mobility and bullet speed.
Although he does have less efficiency against blocking and, if you land a long-range headshot, you cant easily finish off your opponent.
Also, he can block, unlike the normal knight.
BISHOP
Some may say he's OP, but I disagree with that notion.
He has little to no reliable methods to get horizontal momentum, and is basically a sitting duck if you kamikaze spam.
It's probably best to use kamikaze as a worse (but more balanced) glide.
I'd say he's better for DPS and, and maybe even is what the normal bishop SHOULD be (as in, glide having a cooldown)
If you have trouble against him, here's some advice: Stay far away or just dodge the shots.
ROOK
Hard to deal with if you have improper mobility, but id say balanced.
The burst-fire rifle is meh, and the cannon sends the opponent flying into the other side of the board.
He also doesn't have much mobility, and the Minecraft ability is unreliable to say the least.
If you think he's OP because the cannon can 2-shot, just try blocking.
QUEEN
I used to think she was OP, but then i realized something.
She's just a DPS check.
She has one of, if not the lowest DPS in the game, with the tradeoff being projectiles that are easy to aim. Plus, her mobility is kinda... mediocre?
Although she can block, so there could be issues there.
To play against her, just get in close and deal as much damage as you can. She won't stand a chance.
KING
His primary fire is a ranged projectile that is... eh? It's easy to block and deals alright damage.
His immortality can be annoying, but also just doesn't work against most projectiles.
The helicopter ability makes you easy to hit and can be hard to get kills with. I'm sure there's a strategy, but, as with the normal king, it's hard to get practice in when you loose the whole game when you loose the fight.
Guide Updates
If the game get's updated, or something I said has been deemed inaccurate, the changelogs will be here (along with contributors if applicable).
Rook Bug got patched. He's balanced now.
