Factorio Addiction: How to recover

Intro

Hello!

If you're reading this, I can only assume you want to somehow stop playing this game. I'm a former Factorio addict myself.

Overcoming The Addiction

There is an extremely simple revelation I came to one day when playing this game. Many of you will deny it. Many will stop reading and go back to the funny factory game to create intermediate products with medium-to-low-end socioeconomic outcomes for your highly valued employees. Bt I urge you to stop and think about this statement.

Here goes....

The factory does not NEED to grow.

I know, I know. This simple fact contradicts everything you thought you knew. But think about it. When has sustained, high growth remained that way in the real world? Take America. They went through a period of high growth in the 1920's. Then it all went horribly wrong. This carries over into Factorio. You may think, "Well the Great Depression was caused by a complex series of socioeconomic and political factors, this can't happen in Factorio!" But you're wrong.

Maybe you've expanded without mapping out the territory properly. Maybe a biter nest is within your new borders and you don't realise. Then, when you go to make your minute noodles (more efficient) that biter nest could start a raid on your undefended green circuit facility. By the time you get back, your entire factory lies in ruins. This proves that sustained high economic growth eventually leads to a cataclysmic downfall.

I may be exaggerating, but you get the point. Constant growth leads to eventual catastrophe.

"What Can I Do With My Free Time Now That I Play Factorio For A Reasonable Amount Of Time?"

1. Have a shower.

2. Cook some spaghetti bolognese.

3. Talk to your parents.

4. Go outside (this could be dangerous, be careful and take it slow!)

5. Play some Minecraft with your friends (if you have no friends, refer to step 6)

6. Talk to real people and make some (potentially more) friends.

7. Be satisfied.

Conclusion

I hope this guide helped you on your journey to recovery. Good luck out there, and remember; the factory does not NEED to grow and not everything NEEDS to be made more efficient.
