Early/Mid-game Defense
Once you have a healthy amount of minerals and isotopes coming in, rush a level 3 turret to protect your entire base from all rebel attacks till it expands outside of it's radius. Level 3 turrets are amazing and will shred all ships with ease.
Influence + Growth
The best way to expand quickly? Always scavenging buildings, they're loaded with resources and will fuel your economy till you hit rocks. I recommend putting up 2-3 monuments once you finish the level 3 turret to allow for a thriving and protected economy.
(Spamming command centres is recommended, don't bother with upgrading them as minerals are easy to come by while isotopes are not, plus once you're done with all the ruins in it's radius best to deconstruct it and move to new lands.)
Pollution
Pollution, is it a bad thing or a blessing in disguise?
Build smoke stacks and mines around your residential areas so you can keep bringing in resources from other planets, don't let the living space cap block you from your growth potential. Sure the cost is citizens will die each day, but constantly bringing in minerals and isotopes is quite epic.
(Not like there's any penalties to citizens dying)
Ships
Long lasers are based and incredibly strong they will outclass all early rebel ships, I recommend using them purely until short and medium lasers are buffed.
If you have a healthy turret network you could always use your ships more as speedy decoys to bring rebel ships into turret range instead of doing ship to ship combat.
Taking Out The Rebels
The best way to defeat rebel bases is by taking over the turrets with influence by building command centres next to the rebel bases. This allows your ships to easily destroy the camp without issue. (Or just take over the HQ and they no longer attack you, just watch out for the turrets.)
Don't have enough influence? Drop a level 3 turret outside the base and it will destroy all ships they produce.
