The Problem
Zombies dressed as elves can be a confusing and immersion-breaking element in a post-apocalyptic zombie video game. In a world where the undead have taken over and civilization has collapsed, it is unlikely that elves – a fantasy creature typically associated with Christmas and magic – would be present. Seeing zombies dressed in elf costumes can be jarring and distract players from the overall atmosphere and theme of the game.
The Solution
Changing the local date on your PC can prevent Dying Light 2 from loading the elf zombies because the Christmas event is tied to specific dates. To change the local date on a Windows PC, follow the steps here[support.microsoft.com] . I believe that this trick works as long as you select a manual date prior to December 23rd or so. Just be sure to set it back to the correct date when you are finished playing the game.
Considerations Any in-game network features will not work while you are using this method.
There are likely other solutions, such as blocking the game from accessing the internet.
Setting the date back to normal while in-game will cause the Winter Tales event to eventually load.
Fair warning that manually overriding the local date may have unexpected results with other applications.
