"What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 1

First of all, Covenants in Dark Souls 2 are meant to expand the experience of this game and put you into factions within it. There are three categories of covenants in this game:

Cooperative Covenants: Their goal is to help other players in need or be helped yourself within the areas of the game. There are two Coop covenants: Heirs of the Sun and Way of the Blue

Player VS Player Covenants: Their goal is to kill other players in combat. There are two Summoned PVP covenants: Rat King Covenant and Dragon Remnants Covenant; and three Invading PVP covenants: Brotherhood of Blood Covenant, Blue Sentinels Covenant and Bell Keepers Covenant.

Player VS Enviroment Covenants: Their goal is to make the game itself more entertaining. There are two PVE covenants: Pilgrims of the Dark Covenant and Company of Champions Covenant.

"Does it fit me?": If you want to help others in need, this is for you. If you want all the achievements, this is for you. "What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 37

Place to join: Grave of Saints/Doors of Pharros

How to get there: From Majula's Pit, drop yourself from plank to plank until you find a hole in one of the walls, the first one leads leads to Grave of Saints, enter, run like hell to the stairs, turn right, use the ladder and keep running right until you find a bonfire. You can also join it in Doors of Pharros coming from the Gyrm Respite bonfire after defeating Najka, crossing the flooded area full of Mastodon Warriors and rat hyenas until you find the Ordeal's End bonfire. After it you will have to killSif's puking reincarnation The Royal Rat Authority boss. When he is dead you can talk to the Rat King in order to join in.

Description:

The honorable rats who protect their turf focus on protecting their own world area from tresspasers.

In order to do it, they must wear the mighty Crest of the Rat, given to thy by His Highness, which also increases the poison build up of the weapons of those few with the glorious task of protecting "their turf". Being in this covenant will also render the rats and their servants passive against you, but aggressive against those filthy humans. Those who serve His Highness can be even more honorable by giving Him the tails of your fallen comrades.

Rewards:10 Rat Tails - 10 Small smooth and silky stones: Trade them with the crows for items.

20 Rat Tails - 10 Smooth and silky stones: Trade them with the crows for items.

Gaining rank 3 will reward you with a ring perfectly suited to avoid fighting with enemies that don't see you, because they won't hear you either.

Killing people in your turf gives you a Pharros' lockstone,a Rat Tail and a Smooth and Silky Stone, which means this covenant is good for farming those stones.

You can morph your surroundings to fit your playstyle using the lockstones in one of the many contraptions scattered throughout both areas.Cons:Making your way to the Rat King the first time can be painful, especially because you are an invader of someone's turf the first time you enter.

You MUST kill one of the two bosses that guard the path to the Rat King if you want to join, and you must face him ALONE, no player summon signs, no NPCs.

You are forced to use one of your ring slots in order to have someone summoned into your area"Does it fit me?:" Do you like ganking? Then in this covenant you will be in heaven. Do you want to use a pure Dexterity build with some weapon with innate poison build-up in it? Then this covenant will help for sure. Do you want to farm lockstones? OH BOY, THIS IS INSANELY GOOD FOR YOU. If none of the questions before is answered as "Yeah!", then move on, filthy human.

"What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 54

From the beginning of the shrine, go upstairs, avoid or kill the two drakekeepers, and when you get to the wooden door, look closely to your right. There are boxes which indicate a path to a chest, a Mimic, and another drakekeeper. When you start going upwards after killing him, defeat the invading NPC. Behind him is the petrified egg. Give it to Lanafir to join in.

Description:

Can be combined with Dragon Head Stone to breathe fire. It cannot be removed until you die.

30 Dragon Scales - Black Dragon Greatsword: A greatsword with high Strength and Dexterity requirement with no scalings.Pros:The only covenant which is focused entirely on dueling other players.

Grants the Black Dragon Set, which has fairly good physical defense, high elemental defense and

very low weight. It looks amazing too.

Good way to test your skills in PVP fights.

If you want a copy of Quelaag's Furysword, try getting to rank 3 and applying charcoal pine resin or flame weapon on it. Thank me later.

Some bosses, likeOrnstein the Old Dragonslayer, can be staggered with your roar.Cons:This covenant only offers 1v1 duels, nothing else.

The armor and the helmet cannot be removed until you die, and it cannot be upgraded.

People tend to gank some members of this covenant."Does it fit me?": If you love dueling, testing your skill and have honorable combatmost of the time ;this covenant is perfect for you. If you have dreamt of being a dragon, this covenant will fulfill your needs. And finally, if you want the cool-looking Quelaag's furysword; just have fun dueling and when you get the Black Dragon Longsword, apply flame weapon on it. If what you want is just killing people and be sunk in their blood, read on...hehehe...

Brotherhood Of Blood (Invading PVP)

"What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 71

Leader: Titchy Gren

Place to join: Undead Purgatory

How to get there:When you get to the second bonfire of the Huntsman's Copse, keep going forward until you find two ways on your right. The upper one leads to another bonfire in a hut, and the lower one will lead you to a path full of executioners. Kill them, cross the bridge afterwards bewaring of the holes in it, and you will encounter a fog gate. R*pe the Executioner's Chariot ass. After it there is a bonfire and Titchy Gren. Do not forget to have a token of spite within you when you talk to him.

Description:

Aw, blood and it's human nasty smell. In this covenant you will focus on spilling and bathing yourself in as much blood as possible with two methods. First, presenting a token of spite to one of the statues near Gren will lead you to an arena where you can spill the blood of your comrades. Beware though, because if your blood is the one decorating the floor you will lose points to rank up. In order to get higher in this covenant you will have to win arena matches. If you win a duel will count as +1 and losing as -1. Second, you can also gain points by killing those fool blue sentinels who come to aid Way of the Blue members, which is a good way to spill even more blood. Upon joining the covenant you will receive the Crest of Blood, which will make bleed damage on weapons with it go up 50 points, which suits incredibly well to rip apart your foes and dye your armor in red even more.

Rewards:50 points - Curved Twinblade: A twinblade with good durabilty, not high Strength and Dexterity requirements, good scaling and bleed damage within it,and a glowing aura to make your enemies shake in your presence .

150 points - Crescent Sickle: A reaper with innate magic damage, low Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence requirement, bad scaling and fairly low base damage, but now your aura will make your foes start to sh*t bricks .

500 points - Great Chaos Fireball(Pyromancy): The best of all throwing orb pyromancies, which uses 2 attunment slots and leaves a pool of damaging lava upon impact.Pros:Very good way to farm souls, especially in the arena duels.

Grants access to weapons and spells only available in NG++ and beyond by ranking up.

Perfect way to test your might in PVP if you do not mind ranking up.

You can buy infinite amount of Cracked Red Eye Orbs from Gren, and you also gain one with every successful victory inside the arena.

Each killed Blue Sentinel in an invasion will count as +2, which is good if you want a safer way to rank up.

In order to duel, you only need to possess one token of spite in your inventory, and it will NOT be consumed either you win or lose.

Achieving the highest rank and talking to Gren will make him gift you with his armor and scythe.Cons:Each defeat in the arena counts as -1, which can make ranking tedious and/or boring.

Some people tend to gank players who invade their world, so killing them can be pretty hard, although is a good excuse to put their organs inside out, isn't it?!

You can only buy Cracked Red Eye Orbs from NG+ and beyond.

All rewards can be obtained in NG++, which for most people is easier than winning 500 matches without losing.

When you defeat a host during an invasion will count as +1 in your sin counter. With 10 sins, you will become a sinner, and Blue Sentinels will start hunting for your blood.

You MUST defeat the Executioner's Chariot each playthrough if you want to join the covenant.

You cannot join if you don't carry a token of spite with youalthough there is one in a chest in your way to The Gutter "Does it fit me?": If you want dueling and killing for fun, this is for you. If you want an infinite supply of Cracked Red Eye orbs and invade until you become a wretch this will suit you well indeed. But if you feel bad for those poor souls killed, and you feel bad for killing those people; and you want to bring justice and hope this will not be your covenant. But if you join us...

Blue Sentinels (Invading PVP)

"What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 93

Leader: Blue Sentinel Targray

Place to join: Cathedral of Blue

How to get there: From Majula, take the route towards the stairs next to the Pit. Continue onwards until you arrive at Heide's Tower of Flame. When you get to the area with 3 Old Knights, kill them and turn left. When you have killed the last Old Knight a lever will show up. Use it lower the bridge and gain pass towards the Cathedral of Blue. Through the fog gate you will encountera reminder of Dark Souls, Ornstein, the Old Dragonslayer. After him you can talk to Targray and join in.

Description: In this covenant you will focus on bringing justice and hope to our dangerous world. In order to pursue a higher plane, you must use your tokens of spite in one of the three statues inside our glorious Cathedral to duel with your comrades and gain favours for the Gods. We can also hunt those assassins' which goal is nothing else than spilling blood of innocent people, whose lust for blood have driven their sights upon poor Way of the Blue members. Your work is to protect them. And if you cannot bear your famine of justice, use Cracked Blue Eyed orbs to bring the weight of justice to those who have sinned, and gain even more of the Gods' favours.

Rewards:50 points - Spirit Tree Shield: A shield that will not fully protect you from physical damage but can deflect spells by parrying, and a deep blue aura of hope .

150 points - Wrath of the Gods(Miracle:30FTH): A long-casting time miracle that does a explosion-like bubble around you that deals high lightning damage, but with low cast uses;and a brilliant aura to give justice and hope to those in need .

500 points - Boontiful Sunlight(Miracle:38FTH): A massive Area of Effect healing spell that will restore you and your allies 7 HP per second.Pros:Wrecking bosses by cooperating with other players, killing sinners and dueling is a very good way to farm souls.

Killing Red Phantoms that invade Way of the Blue members, succesfully invading with a Cracked Blue Eye orb and winning a duel will count as +1; so you can choose which way you want to rank up.

If you fail invading, the host dies or you lose a duel will NOT count downwards. So you can be safe while you advance through this covenant.

Achieving ranks will give you miracles and a shield not obtainable out of this covenant until you reach NG++.

In order to help Way of the Blue members you can put on the Guardian's Seal or leave your summon sign.

With Cracked Blue Eyed orbs you can invade those sinners who may not be in your area.

You do NOT need to have one token of fidelity in order to join.

If you get to rank 3 and talk to Targray, he will reward you with his armor set and his halberd.Cons:Each time you duel, the game WILL CONSUME one of your tokens of fidelity, it doesn't matter if you win or lose.

You can only invade SINNERS and WRETCHES with Cracked Blue Eyed orbs, so often you see yourself with no worlds to invade.

People tend to gank some members of this covenant by using summons and/or members of other covenants to help them, which only delays the time when the hammer of justice will reduce those sinners into a soft pulp .

You can only buy Cracked Blue Eyed orbs from NG+ and beyond

You MUST defeat the Old Dragonslayer each time if you want to join this covenant

You can only invade as a blue phantom if you are in this covenant.

Tokens of fidelity are consume each time you duel, so you will need to coop with other people to farm them.

Also, killing a sinner will not grant you more Cracked Blue Eyed orbs or tokens of fidelity."Does it fit me?": Well, if you are a good guy who founds joy on helping others and killing bad guys this covenant is good for you. In the same manner, if you like helping others and having good duels with other people, this is a very good choice. And also, if you like having some miracles early on, this might help you. if not there are other covenants that will fulfill your needs better...jejejeje...JAJAJA!

Bell Keepers (Invading PVP)

"What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 116

Leader:Belfry Dwarf

Place to join: Belfry Luna/Belfry Sol

How to get there:From the bonfire after the Ruin Sentinel boss fight you will encounter a bonfire. Climb down the ladder next to it, kill the doggy and use a Pharros' Lockstone in the wall. It will reveal a hidden passage to Belfry Luna. Talk to the dwarf next to the door to join in.

In the same way, after you have defeated the Smelter Demon, you will find a bonfire. Open the door next to it, cross the steel bridge on your right and on your left you will see another door. Open it and use a Pharros' Lockstone in the wall. It will open a path to a hidden ladder with a bonfire and Belfry Sol next to it. Talk to the dwarf to join in.

Description: Jejejeje...you want to guard the bells too? Yes, you can do it, and we will reward you with goods if you do. The only thing we ask you is to kill all trespasser you encounter. Simple, right. When you wear our ring, it will take you to the Belfry shamed by the feet of other humans. Turn lots of them to shreds and the Prince and the Princess will be very pride of you, as well as having new things in your pocket. JAJAJAJAJA! Here, take these coins for joining us.

Rewards:Defeat 10 trespassers - Titanite Slab: Item to upgrade a weapon or a piece of armor to +10.

Defeat 30 trespassers - Hidden Weapon(Sorcery:14INT): A sorcery which makes your weapon invisible for 90 seconds. Counts as a buff, so it will wear off prematurely if you switch your weapon.

Defeat 100 trespassers - Belfry Dwarf Set: A set which resembles the ones used by the dwarf in the belfries.Pros:Each kill will grant you one Titanite Chunk, Titanite Slab, Twinkling Titanite or Petrified Dragon Bone in a random way, so this covenant is good if you want to upgrade a lot of weapons.

Killing the host and his/her allies each time can make your soul count grow stupidly fast sometimes.

The common spawns inside the belfries most of the time will put you in a vantage point.

You can use the mobs of the belfries as your allies in order to kill the host and/or draw his/her attention from you.

Sometimes a second bell keeper will be summoned, which is always an advantage.Cons:You MUST join this covenant in order to get all achievements.

You MUST use one ring slot in order to be summoned.

You will often encounter host with summons to kill you easily for souls and fun.

Some members of the Brotherhood of Blood and Blue Sentinels team up with the host to kill members of this covenant more often than you would think.

Some people tend to wait members of this covenant by hiding themselves using Chameleon to make cheap backstab kills."Does it fit me?": Do you want all achievements? Then this covenant is a must. Do you want to upgrade lots and lots of weapons? This covenant will give you souls and 1 Titanite Chunk with each mark of host blood in your blade/staff/chime, so it will sure help you. Do you like testing weapons and spells? This covenant will suit you well. If not, maybe it's your time to embrace the Dark...

"What Covenant suits me best?" Guide image 137

Leader: Dardiver Grandahl

Place to join: Black Gulch/Shaded Woods/Drangleic Castle

How to get there: You need to find Darkdiver Grandahl in 3 locations.

In Black Gulch, near the edge and the hidden second bonfire, drop down and you will see a door. Below the door there is a big cave with two dual-wielding giants and a metal chest. Kill them, retrieve their Forgotten Key, homeward back and open the door. You will find Grandahl there.

In Shaded Woods, at the entrance of the path leading to Najka there is a small wooden plank covered by grass. If you walk te plank, it will break and lead you to Grandahl and the sorcery Homing Soul Mass.

In Drangleic Castle, you need to open the soul-door at the far left, inside the room with two torch-wielding golems. Inside that door there is a ruin sentinel. Kill it, and then enter the small room. The floor will break, leading you to a bonfire, the Faraam Set and Grandahl.

Description: The Dark. We fear it, but we find comfort within it. Those who bound their lives to the Dark can traverse the fragment of what once was the Chasm of the Abyss. You must fight your way through the 3 mazes, and light the sconces that lie inside them. Do it, and you will be one step closer to the edge of your own true Dark. When you have done it, the One who lurks within the Dark Chasm of Old will face you in combat. Conquering him will make your own Dark shine your way.

Rewards:Clear one of the three Dark Chasms of Old - Resonant Soul(Hex:10INT18FTH): Emits a dark mass at the cost of 100 souls. It can be casted without souls, but his damage output will be greatly reduced.

Clear all Dark Chasms of Old and light all their sconces - Great Resonant Soul(Hex:13INT26FTH): Emits a large dark mass at the cost of 500 souls. It can be casted without souls, but his damage output will be near to nothing.

Defeat the Darklurker - Clímax(Hex:30INT47FTH): Highest damage output hex in the whole game, at the cost of all your souls. It's peak performance is capped at 5000 souls, it will not gain more power, but will still consume all of your souls. A good trick to use this hex is to have in your inventory lots of Souls of a Brave Warrior, which give you 5000 souls each.

Pros:Reaching rank 3 in this covenant is so easy, that it's a good way to get the achievement "Selfless Giver".

Talking to Grandahl after reaching rank 3 will give you the best chime for miracles and the Xanthous Set.

This covenant gives for free some of the best chime-based hexes, and allows you to purchase some others at the cost of souls.

Darkdiver Grandahl sells Bonfire Ascetics for 7500 souls each. You can also farm the mobs inside the Chasm, as they drop Bonfire Ascetics, making this covenant the best way to farm them.

Grandahl sells Profound Still, an hex that makes your enemies unable to cast any kind of magic.

After reaching rank 3, you can enter the Chasm without offering Humanity, i mean, Human Effigies.

You can put your Red Sign Soapstone to invade other players inside the Chasm, much like with the boss battle with the Looking Glass Knight.

The Abyss Seal drains your health by 30Hp each time you use an Hex type sorcery, and it boost their damage in 7.5%. It also works with Dark Weapon and Resonant weapon.Cons:You MUST complete this covenant in order to get all the achievements.

You CAN be invaded during your journeys across the Abyss.

No summon signs can be placed inside the Chasm, you must walk through it alone.

The Dark Chasm is filled with powerful enemies that will ambush you, be prepared for it properly, although killing them grants you one Human Effigy and one Bonfire Ascetic.

In order to enter this covenant you must talk to Grandahl in 3 different locations throughout the game, so joining it's tedious.

Does it fit me?:If you want all the achievements, this is a MUST. Or if you like throwing hexes at your enemies, this will supply your needs. Going through the abyss is fun too, and invading there is something noone expects. Finally, if you want super-charged Lightning Miracles, get to rank 3 and infuse the chime Grandahl gives to Lightning; thank me later. If not, maybe is time you take a real challenge...

Pros:Punching Everything.

Can be joined since the very beginning of the game.

Offers one magic buff and one useful ring very early in the game.

Enemies will NOT despawn if you are a member of this covenant.

>><<

Enemies will inflict more damage to the playeryes, it is a good thing indeed.

The Seal can be used to equip yourself with no weapons and/or shield, significantly reducing your equipment burden.

The Seal makes your bare hands more like wandering hand cannons if you are a strength build.

Cons:Farming Awestones is very difficult.

All enemies have increased health and power.

You cannot summon or be summoned by anyone to your or their world, not even NPCs.

Phantoms can invade you easier than with other covenants.

Does it fit me?: If you need a challenge, this is the perfect covenant for you. If you want to kill every boss by yourself, this covenant will allow it. And finally, if you want to PUNCH FATE IN THE F*CKING FACE JOIN THIS MOTHERF*CKING COVENANT RIGHT NOW!!!
