Initial Spawning
So you have just chosen a server and created a character, what now? Well, choose one of the three spawn points:
- Raincourt
- Healthclyffe
- Eastreach
I personally would spawn at Raincourt due to it having the most coastal area, however choose the spawn that suits you most. After loading into the game and into a spawnpoint you will find yourself in a safezone, with access to a courtyard that contains a mana pool (refills your mana), and a health pool (regens health). You will also note glowing stones which will have useful tips if you go up to them. To begin your journey into Citadel you must however pass out of the safezone, to do this simply pass out of the bubble surrounding the area.
First Few Levels
As soon as you leave the safezone head to the beach, and look for items you're able to pick up, ie wood, flowers, mushrooms, crystals. This will easily get you to level 2 before you arrive on the beach. As you get to the beach, look at the glowing icons on the bottom right of the screen, these notify you on what you can upgrade and what you have unlocked. Pressing 'K' should bring up a skill tree, move to the 'structures' tab and immediately unlock the first 3 tiers of wooden buildings.
Move along the beach picking up wood until you have 8, build a single floor (build menu is 'b'). Adding walls, and a door should get you a basic base, as well as giving you sufficient XP for level 3. Now press 'K' again and goto the 'items' tab, unlock the level 1 staff then move to the 'spell' tab and unlock the fire ball spell for the staff. The staff does the most damage than the wand or the glove.
To craft the staff you must use 1 rune crystal, and 6 wood, which is very easy and you should already have. Once this is made right click the staff, then goto the spell menu (P) and right click the fireball spell. Your staff now should beable to shoot a fireball via left click at the cost of 10 mana. To increase mana press 'c' and use upgrade points to increase your health, mana, weight, etc.
Mana And How It Works
Mana management maybe confusing for beginning players, however once you get to level 4 it is a breeze. There are 3 ways (AFAIK) to refill your mana bar:
- Refill at the safezone mana pool (or in later game your own mana pool).
- Eat consumables (potions, some flowers, etc).
- Level up, every time you level up your mana and health are completely refilled (also on death).
Potions are the most reliable way however. To make a mana potion you must first unlock it in the 'K' menu. A mana potion costs 1 rune crystal, and 2 death orchids to make, and revives "100" mana, although often times it regens anywhere from 99 to 103 mana.
Health potions are similar except they cost 1 rune crystal, 3 crowberry and 1 mushroom. If you only want to use up 1 potion slot however you could use a vitality potion, which regens 60 hp and 60 mana.
Level 10
After grinding, you find yourself at level 10. This is the first big stage in the game, mostly because you have unlocked the second tier of staffs! (2nd tier of spells being at lvl 15), or more importantly, the first flying broomstick. This broom stick costs mana to fly so be sure to carry large amounts of mana pots or potent mana pots (also unlocked at lvl 10).
Dungeons
Now that we are level 10, and have a broomstick, we should be able to begin exploring the map in depth. You should notice 4 things right off the bat:
- Chests
- Caves
- Monoliths
- Towers
- Chests
- Caves
- Monoliths
- Towers
Taming
Taming is unlocked with a spell (Pacify) at level 10. A tamed creature will last for 2 hours, however this may be extended by scrolls, which add time in increments up to 2 weeks (Scroll effects will stack, so perma taming is kinda possible).
You may ride some creatures, including Dragons, however you require a saddle for it, which is unlocked at level 15.
