Spring Tips And Tricks For Year 1

In the beginning of the game the player won't have much.

You'll quickly get access to a few tools, but you'll have a long way to go to get properly started.

For starters the player will want to do this as soon as possible in Spring:

Complete level 5 in the dungeon/mines/caves and level up mining to unlock the Furnace and Anvil

Get some crops growing (I heavily reccomend getting some regrowable grows planted early in each season to have a steady income supply across the season)

Upgrade the backpack at the General store

Acquire the fishing rod from the local fisherwoman south of town.

The player will find that it is easy to sell monster parts gathered by killing enemies, but it will be very hard to survive many enemies until the player gets some armor made and equipped.

Recipes to forge armor can be bought from the Blacksmith's store. The recipes to forge armor will appear on the anvil. The anvil can be crafted from copper bars and some stone. Coppers bar can be made from a furnace. A furnace can be made with copper ore and some stone.

This is why completing level 5 is a high priority and one should not dilly dally too much on it.

You should have an easy time from floor 1-20 once you have a complete set of Copper Armor, and the forest near Town will no longer be dangerous in any form from the monsters until Summer starts, since the enemies can barely hurt you in your armor.

The player should be saving these goals for much later on in the year:

Getting a barn/coop made to raise animals.

Upgrading the house.

Traveling into the Unwritten Lands

Yup, just ignore these things for awhile, you have more important issues at hand.

You'll also notice one of the quests you get early on will require you to make a Healing Potion. This is a magic item that is made at a Cauldron that you can only learn how to make by leveling up your magic skill by using magic spells and brewing it with a Bayleef. You'll also get a quest that requires to you grow Catnip. These two Herbs can only be grown outdoors in the Spring, and the seeds can be bought by Katya specifically in the Spring. Bayleef takes a very long time to grow, so you'll want to buy Bayleef seeds ASAP, and if you don't get them soon enough to plant in the season, you'll want to plant the seeds in a Flower Pot indoors so you can harvest the Bayleef for the Healing Potion. If you miss out on getting Bayleaf seeds and growing Bayleef for the Healing Potion you'll be limited in progress on your first year, because multiple quests and puzzles require you to complete the healing potion quest first, and your reward is necessary to progress in the game in many ways.

Summer Year 1

By now the player has a good start.

The player should focus on getting all their tools upgraded to at least Copper.

Copper tools require 5 copper bars and 500 gold.

No real worries though, cause grinding your way in the Dungeons/Mines will be a breeze in your Copper Armor.

You might even have reached your Way down to Floor 21 by now, and have access to Iron ore for Iron bars.

In the Summer though, you'll experience new threats from enemies in the forest called Werewolves, and enemies spawning in the forest will include stronger enemies. These enemies will be able to do quite a bit of damage to the player even with their Copper Armor set equipped. Luckily, Werewolves only spawn on Full Moons. The player will rarely see them, and will not see too many of the strong enemies, so it's good to get that Iron Armor as soon as possible. Luckily, you'll get a free Silver Wand weapon when you receive a quest to hunt Werewolves, so luckily you will have a powerful weapon for adventuring.

You may also want to try getting some things done for this season, getting money for Fruit trees (I reccomend buying Apple trees cause Fall is coming up), Tappers for regular trees on your farm, and getting down as far as you can in the Dungeons.

By now you must also want to make food, especially since you've probably really wanted to adventure in the unwritten for quite some time, and that requires making Rations with your cooked food. Well, campfires are perfect for cooking on. You can cook a handful of food items with a campfire, and it will be an easy way to turn things you find into Cooked food for Rations.

With this in mind, you'll also notice that in Summer tons more foragables are appearing, there is all sorts of things to gather from the Crossroads near the Forest, and there is foragables appearing in the Forest more often. Plus the bushes will be thriving with Elderberries during the Summer, ripe for the picking. Pick them, cause they are handy and helpful.

Tips For Any Time

Always use all the Stamina and Mana you have

Do you have energy?

Well, cast spells to level up your Magic skills. Even if there is nothing around, casting them just works.

Dig with your shovel on your farm, it will level up your Farming skill, you might even dig up Clay which is extremely useful and helpful.

Do you have time left over or are just waiting for your crafting machines to make stuff?

Go fishing! Yup, if you got your fishing rod, fish. Fish on your farm, fish in town, fish at the crossroads just go fish nearby and use up time.

Lastly, if you ever run low on Health AND/OR Stamina in the middle of the day and need to increase it really badly, just take a shower in your house. Taking a shower refills a bit of Health and Stamina. It will only cost like, 10 seconds out of your day to take a small break, and the refills is incredibly helpful. Very important and useful.

Next, be sure to give gifts townsfolk like everyday you can. Most townsfolk like the Gems from the Dungeons/Mines. Some townsfolk like some Gems more than others. They make great gifts. Other gifts that the majority of townsfolk like are fruit. Fruit from trees, fruit from crops, fruit is a great gift. Some fruits are loved more than others with specific townsfolk.

Another helpful tip is to NOT DIE. Dying cause you to have significantly less health, magicka, and stamina in the next day. As a result you'll be stuck going to bed early and ending your day early just to recover from your injury.

If you are ever low on health, take a shower, and if you already took a shower that day, don't do anything dangerous for the rest of the day.

If you have cooked food AND/OR artisan goods, that heals health or health potions, great, use those instead, however those are best saved for emergencies when traveling to dangerous areas and carried on person. If your going back home, its better to take a shower or go to bed instead.
