Alfheim Portals
Alfheim portals are timed challenges that are scattered throughout various chapters and verses. Completing the portals the first time grants the player either a Broken Witch Heart or a Broken Moon Pearl.
There are 21 Alfheim portals. These portals are often hidden and require backtracking or the completion of a certain task. This guide will show where all the alfheim portals are located.
If the player is interested in unlocking the lost chapter, it is necessary to complete the portals as well as finish the chapter.
The bonus chapter will not unlock if the player completes the challenge, but quits the chapter.
Fun sidenote:
Alfheim is the romanised form of the Old Norse word Alfheimr which means "Elf land" or "Land of the Elves."
The language that the angels use in Bayonetta is Enochian (it is a real language that was created/recorded by John Dee and Edward Kelley).
Chapter I
Alfheim Portal #1Verse: 2
Reward: Broken Moon Pearl
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! Enemies can only be defeated only during Witch Time!"
After destroying the magical wall, an elevator will form. Go back to where the key was obtained. The very first portal will be in front of the chest.
Chapter II
Alfheim Portal #2Verse: 5
Reward: Broken Moon Pearl
Challenge: "Defeat all of the angels before time expires using the limited number of punches and kicks allotted!"
After defeating the Echants(the wheel enemies) go back up the street to where the trolley came from. The metal fence that blocked the way has been destroyed allowing the player to access this alfheim portal.

Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires!"
At the spot where the Enchants spawned(see the picture above), there is an archway with a balcony above it. Double jump then wall jump off either the wall or the edge of the balcony to reach it.
Alfheim Portal #4Verse: 8
Reward: Broken Moon Portal
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires while executing the required number of Tortue Attacks!"
After defeating the enemies in the square, go back to the destructible door(the one that the player passed through with Witch Time).
Chapter III
Alfheim #5Verse: 2
Reward: Broken Moon Pearl
Challenge: "Stay in the air for a set period of time!"
After defeating the enemies on fire, jump onto the top of the stairs and find the trash can. In order to make this portal appear, knock over the trash can. (This portal was a pain in the ass to find.)
Alfheim #6Verse: 5
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires using only Angel Arms!"
In the area with the two statutes and the lava that burst the door, go down the stairs where the makeshift bridge from the last chapter was. There will be another arch with a balcony on top. Double jump and wall jump onto the balcony.
Alfheim #7Verse: 10
Reward: Broken Moon Pearl
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! However, Witch Time has been disabled!"
After entering the portal to Paradiso, there will be a pathway that is submerged under water. Follow the path to an islet. The portal will be in the center of the small island.
Alfheim #8Verse: 11
Reward: Broken Heart Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! Enemies can be defeated using only Wicked Weave Attacks!"
Continuing off from Alfheim #7, repair the bridge with the hourglass, but before crossing the repaired bridge, go back to where the Gates of Hell portal is. The eighth portal is inside the caves and across from Gates of Hell portal.
Chapter V
Alfheim Portal #9Verse: 3
Reward: Broken Moon Pearl
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! Enemies can be defeated only during Witch Time!"
Defeat Grace and Glory then go all the back to the beginning of the chapater.
Alfheim Portal #10Verse: 8
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Stay in the air for a set period of time!"
Right after the score pop up screen for Verse 7, look down at the bottom of the tower and the tenth portal will have appeared.
Alfheim Portal #11Verse: 10
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires using the limited number of punches and kicks allotted!"
Outside of the tower and on the spiral path, turn to the right and go all the way down.
By this point, the following achievement should have unlocked:
Angel May CryComplete half of all Alfheim portals.
Chapter VI
Alfheim Portal #12Verse: 4
Reward: Broken Moon Pearl
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires while executing the requires number of Torture Attacks!"
Clear out the enemies in the area with the spikes coming out of the ground then return to the area where the Inspired enemies were fought.
Chapter IX
Alfheim Portal #13Verse: 2
Reward: Broken Moon Portal
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! You must be out-of-body to defeat the enemies!"
After defeating enemies in the area and unlocking the statue, go to the stone stairs. Break the large door with the sun symbol to find the thirteenth portal.
Alfheim Portal #14Verse: 7
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires!"
Take out the kinships and jump onto the kinship's corpse on the left. Across a large gap is a floating panel with the portal on it. Crow Within is required to reach this portal.
Alfheim Portal #15
Verse: 11
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Limited Kicks & Punches! Defeat all the angels before time expires using the limited number of punches and kicks allotted!"
Defeat the Golem by the training grounds area then return to the floating island where the Joy enemies were fought.
Chapter X
Alfheim #16Verse: 3
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! Enemies can be defeated using Wicked Weave attacks!"
Spin the lever to move the floating island to the left. The larger island will connect to a white, small platform with a treasure chest and the sixteenth portal.
Alfheim Portal #17Verse: 10
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires using only Angel Arms!"
After reaching the Gates of Hell portal, go back past the tencles to the beginning of this area.
Chapter XII
Alfheim Portal #18Verse: 4
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! You must be out-of-body to defeat the enemies!"
After Witch Time event dodging the cargo and eliminating the enemies in that area, return to the beginning of the stage. More enemies will spawn; defeat them to make the portal appear.
Alfheim #19Verse: 5
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! Enemies can be defeated only during Witch Time!"
After breaking down the door and landing on the spinning ring outside, look for the opening of a turbine. The nineteenth portal will be at the end of the turbine. To reach it, either dodge the turbine's blades with Witch Time (using either the Bange of Time accessory or triggering Witch Time with the enemies inside the turbine) or destroy the turbines with Lt. Col. Kilgore (the RPG weapon).
Chapter XV
Alfheim #20Verse: 9
Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! However, Witch Time has been disabled!"
Battle and defeat Temperantia then return to the beginning of the stage. There is a platform on the right side of the map. Leap over the gap onto that platform. There will be a chest in the middle of this platform as well.
Epilogue
Alfheim Portal #21Reward: Broken Witch Heart
Challenge: "Defeat all the angels before time expires! Enemies can be defeated only using Wicked Weave attacks!"
Reach the statue's neck(see the image above). Caution: going too high may trigger the next scene and the player will have to restart the level. After reaching the neck area, return to the statue's base.
At this point, the following achievement should have unlocked:
The Path To The HeavensDiscover all Alfheim portals.
After completing the last Alfheim Portal, this achievement should unlock:
Angel SlayerComplete all Alfheim portals.
Lost Chapter: Angel Slayer
If the Alfheim portals were completed and the player ensured to finish the chapter as well, the Lost Chapter: Angel Slayer will unlock.
Angel Slayer is a bonus chapter that has a total of 51 battles spread over 5 verses. Once the player reaches the final verse's last stage, the player will battle an unexpected boss. It's Bayonetta.
After finishing the lost chapter, the player will unlock a playable character, demon King Zero. King Zero is the king of the little devils that are summoned with the Infernal Communicator accessory.
