Rask's Guide to Themselves - Survivor's Notes.

Start Here

Note to reader: Sometimes I refer to myself as you in notes to myself, it helps me anchor my -clearly- broken grasp on reality. The world seems to be made of large cubes, so I have no idea what's going on. I'm writing this for me, because later mes might not know all this stuff. I sure don't! I'll try to keep this updated and clean it up when I can.

Okay, basics. Don't panic. It'll be okay. Everything'll be okay. Square breathing. Inhale, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four. Exhale, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four. Inhale, two, three, four.

You are in control of a human or human-like entity. You might guess later as to why I'm not entirely certain. You have hands so that's a start.

It appears you have previously suffered an extremely grievous head injury as your skills and memories have been lost.

This is bad news, but stay calm. Your skills recover at a rapid rate, if you work on them. I'm not sure on memory yet.

You're in bad shape, so keep a low profile. Sneak around, avoid confrontations, stick to shadows, don't make noise. You can't afford the costs right now.

What's Going On??

Try not to die (again?). It -really- hurts. If you die, you reawaken somewhere else from where you died, or you wake up where you last slept.

This implies your body is able to function even when you are unconscious and is able to defend itself and navigate. (but I come back?)

If you're short on food, try to take it easy and not run everywhere. Restoring stamina makes you hungrier.

Beware of wild animals, especially when you are weak and tired. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pig kicked my ass.

There are other human-like entities in the world, but the vast majority are hostile.

-DON'T LET THEM HIT YOU-

They... kinda look like you, but in terrible states of disrepair and have only basic cognitive functions. They don't seem to be aware of their state. They groan when struck. Do they feel pain?

It is uncertain how they continue to function as their physical form should degrade and rot beyond that. Is there something keeping them intact?

Is it the same thing that keeps me intact?

I feel stronger when I damage them enough to make them stop moving. Am I regaining lost skills? Did I know this stuff before? Does my body remember even when my mind does not?

Does it even count as killing them? If it does, am I doing them a favor?

Infection

If you get infected

Don't give up

Try not to get hit if you can, use ranged weapons. Hits progress infection, and hurt.

Antibiotics are extremely rare.

Is this why everyone is dead? Even people in bunkers? An infection with an untreated fatality rate of 100%?

I get the feeling traders have even odds to have antibiotics. Then you gotta afford them.

How did traders survive this whole mess? Are they like me? Or more like... them?

Can find honey in stumps - explore woods - current best source of infection fighting material.

Further Notes

Heads popping off after a head-neck shot is satisfying to a disturbing degree.

Shelter is vital, exposure kills and fast. Get a feel for what sort of structure blocks rain and what doesn't. Rain splashes a lot more than you'd think so make sure the roof covers you at least a couple meters in all directions.

To help manage your inventory, use two chests, one for stuff that stacks easily, and stuff that doesn't stack or rarely. Grow from there. Medicine chest, food chest, tool chest, armor chest, clothing chest, do what works for you.

Choose your inventory and belt carefully. Your tools can literally mean life and death. Consider duplicate weapons, switching is always faster than reloading.

-always- keep stone, plant fiber, and wood in your backpack.

I... I know how to make functional firearms out of trash. My memories get fuzzy when I try to recall how I put it together. This looks ridiculous. But it works, and I still have my hands.

Do traders have memory problems? Doctor Jen has introduced herself to me at least three times now. Worrying.

How THE ♥♥♥♥ does moonlight turn red every seven days?? Am I seeing things? I need to find a mirror, my eyes feel kinda itchy when it happens, see if they're bloodshot or something.

I don't remember writing this, what does it mean? "Warrior difficulty - satisfying bullet sponges"

If you're looking for some dyes, check out clothes stores. Lots of dyed stuff. Alternatively, if you have lots of dyes and need to clear some storage, apply it to objects you're keeping in storage. Two for one!
